The option to dine in has returned here at Asian Cuisine! It's actually been back a while now... I was just very happy to see it when it happened! The plexiglass wall that closed off the open kitchen during Covid has been removed. I've been here a couple of times since dine in reopened, but had still done take out anyway as my girlfriend lived not far away there in Grimes. She recently moved... We missed the food...and seeing Lily and Ken! So we decided to drive over and grab a table. When we walked in we were greeted right away. It had been a minute since we'd last been in. I was happy to see Lily working at the counter and Ken busy in the kitchen along with the rest of their staff! Seating is all low top tables and chairs. Mostly tables for four and two. Now instead of table service (like it was pre-Covid) it's more order and pay at the counter. Take a seat. The food is brought to you on disposable plates with plastic silverware. Drinks are cans or bottles. There are no napkins or condiments at the tables. Condiments like soy sauce and spicy mustard are served in packets. Sweet and sour still comes in a cup. Bus your own table into the trash receptacle when you are done. The food was as good as it ever was! We ordered an order of the crab rangoon. These seemed a little lighter on the filling than I remember them being in the past... They were served hot and fresh out of the fryer! I got the Yu Shang shrimp. Probably my favorite entree here and my go to. It was fantastic as always! I struggled eating it a little with my plastic fork... The tines kept bending on the firmer components of the dish. Heather ordered chicken fried rice and added shrimp (extra spicy). Another awesome dish! And I benefited from some leftovers she brought home... Lol I'll say that overall the food here is still top notch... Lily and Ken are two of my favorite owners in the metro! Couldn't ask for two better hosts... Take out business is still booming! While we dined in the stream of people picking up their orders, or coming in to place take out orders, was constant. But... The overall dine in experience has changed... We adapt to survive and we lost a lot of businesses during Covid... Some businesses that had been open for decades... Asian Cuisine adapted to a take out only model and made it through. Can I blame them for continuing to evolve while bringing the dine in option back? No I can't. In fact I want them to do WHATEVER it takes to keep their doors open...! I can even bring my own silverware... Lol I'm really not that picky and can grab something to eat anywhere. I see closure notices come through my feed almost weekly. Some are kind of a bummer, but they really don't impact me much even when it's a place I go to often. No real personal connection... It's different for me here. I'd probably cry like a little kid who just had one of their childhood beliefs shattered... I'm also not going to lie and say I don't miss things the way they were... I think as a rule a lot of us could say the same about many things today. read more

Service was excellent. Wife and I decided to try it out today. We usually hit hi vee for their asian grille... not today though,today felt different. Wife ordered the general tso entrée amd I had the sesame chicken entrée. Portion sizes were great. Presentation was inviting and on point we couldn't wait to dig in. Flavor was amazing both.. entrée s...Crispy where it needs to be and tender on. The inside. Every bite was an experience.. as far as ambiance.. its a simple set up. Good Chinese food. This was our second time stopping here. My husband had Mongolian beef and I had cashew chicken. Both were tasty. My only complaint is they won't even give you a glass of water. You have to buy your drinks. That seems crazy to me. When we had my grandkids in here before I bought one bottle of water for them to share. Tried a new place tonight in Grimes, after some furniture shopping, but a power outage in the Boone area meant we weren't sure we could dine around there. So, we headed back towards home and decided to try out Asian Cuisine in Grimes. This is definitely a 99% carry out business establishment. I'm guessing they don't have too many dine in customers, but we very much enjoyed our meals. We'll enjoy it even more next time as a carry out. Black pepper chicken - a little sweet for our taste, but flavor was still plentiful. If we ever got this again, we would order it with no sugar. Right amount of spice and sass. No jalapeños though, as advertised, but the spice was still great. Seafood combination was also very tasty. We ordered it spicy and the spice level did not disappoint. Didn't burn our faces off, but had some nice heat. All entrées come with one vegetable eggroll, one crabmeat rangoon. CR's were a little sweet for our taste, but the eggrolls were good. Chicken wing appetizer had great flavor, but were incredibly overcooked. We still tried them, and we both agree these would have been amazing if fried a minute less. If you ask for some on the side, they have an extra spicy chili oil, which has a great flavor and provides plenty of extra heat! Dine-in green tea is not worth it, IMO. Everything dine-in is served on paper plates with super cheap plasticware (I broke my fork stabbing broccoli), hence why I think it's mostly a carry out joint. Water came as one regular 8oz bottle of water with two small paper cups (like the little cups at the dentist office for mouthwash). Like I said, in 30 minutes we saw several carryouts go out the door, but we were the only diners. Good to note this might be best as carry out, so the next time we are driving nearby this would be a great place to get carry out and take home. I can already see myself with a good movie, and a massive carry out order to keep me company! Leftovers a bonus!! This small, family owned chinese restaurant has great service and generous portions. They are always busy, especially on Sunday night (though the service is always awesome)! I really like their egg rolls, general tsao chicken and fried rice. My son always gets chicken added to the fried rice and it makes for a really nice meal on it's own. The best part of eating here is the speed and quality of the food. Its affordable, and easy to find in Grimes. Speedy delivery on a Sunday evening. Tons of food for $33. We ordered orange chicken, fried rice, Kung Pao Chicken, and chicken lo mein. Our " fried rice" came as steamed rice. Not sure if this was a mistake, or if that's what their fried rice is like. The egg rolls are rather small but they are delicious. Love the to go packaging as well. I believe this location was a different Chinese restaurant the last time I was at this location. Either that or they made the food and decor better. There is a sign out front saying grand opening which again leads me to think it is a new restaurant. The interior is greatly improved over the old place but I still don't care for the plastic over the tables. The waitress was very kind. When we arrived, we were asked if we were dining in and we said yes. She asked us to find a table. In the past, you could only order at the counter and then sit (again, gotta be a different place). The soups, crab Rangoon and egg rolls were good and hot. I had the General Tso's and wow did they give me a lot. It had good flavor and just the right amount of sauce. Asian cuisine located in a shopping center right near the exit off of 141. This is a smaller restaurant. While I was there, numerous take out orders were picked up. This is our new "go to" Chinese place. There used to be a different restaurant in this location (or at least different decor/staff), and it was terrible. We got a notice of this place's "grand opening", and despite the fact that they are located right next door to a veterinary clinic, we decided to try it based on Andrea R.'s review. I'm so glad we did! I'm most vegetarian, and I had the vegetable lo mein. The veggies were crisp and fresh, and it wasn't overly greasy. My husband had the mongolian beef, and it was also delicious. Their egg rolls are nice, the rice was moist and sticky, and the crab rangoons are passable (not the best ever, but I've had many, many that were far worse). We haven't eaten in, but have carried out - the staff is very friendly, the decor is nicely updated, and the entire place is clean. This is a very friendly and fast paced restaurant. We carryout at least once a month. The owners are super nice and friendly! My kids always reliably enjoy the orange chicken! My favorite dishes are the Mongolian chicken and shrimp with vegetables. The food is always consistently good! Egg rolls come with the meal! I have been a customer of this restaurant since moving to Grimes in 2006. I order an average of once a week. The staff is friendly and treats me very kindly as a guest. I'm no stranger to eating good food, and of all the Des Moines area Chinese food restaurants I've had, this is definitely among my top three. The food is always delicious. Service: Of hundreds of orders I've had, there were two occasions when what I thought I ordered didn't match what the staff thought I said on the phone, but I can understand that! They made it right when I asked them to correct my order. This is a family owned restaurant. Some of the deliveries have had leakage of the sauce from the containers. This pace does have high quality delivery packaging so it's not been too much of an issue. I usually go for carry-out to avoid the problem and keep the price minimal. Food: The vegetables are large, fancy cut, fresh, and delicious. The eggdrop soup is only eggs and I think it could use some vegetables but at least it doesn't have onions. I cannot eat onions anymore, but when I could the sweet mongolian beef is so amazing. The egg rolls and crab rangoons are superior to many. The meat is very high quality. The sauce is quite flavorful. The scallops are real, but the crab meat is artificial. Portions sizes are large enough to feed two asian people or one of me. I estimate 1800+ calories a meal. My favorite meals is King Pao Shrimp or Hunan Beef. If you like seafood and soup, get the seafood soup! It's the best and the price is unbelievable. read more

Sketchy! Called and asked for a menu to be faxed. Was advised to see the menu online at their website...apparently the menu prices online are INCORRECT. When food was delivered the cost was twice what we were advised, when calling the restaurant we were advised the online menu doesn't have current prices!!! Always super friendly when I come in with my son. They give him an extra fortune cookie which he always looks forward to! I love that they have the low carb options so the sauce is on the side. By far the better of the two Chinese places in Grimes in my opinion! Only thing I don't like is they don't give sweet and sour sauce in the to go and I forget to ask for it to dip my egg roll and crab Rangoon. Other then that, I haven't been disappointed! read more
