Having never had it before, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many different parts of Asia seemed to influence this cuisine, especially given that Suriname is a South American country! There is satay, nasi goreng, goat curry, etc - stuff inspired from all over Asia but slightly different than you would get in their original countries. I ordered the chicken Longtong which is an Indonesian dish and a specialty of this place. It was OUTSTANDING and really filled me up too. I did not expect that especially given how nice and cheap it was - I had even ordered an extra side of Satay skewers which I then had to share. Service is nice and quick especially since you mostly just interact at the back stand to order, and then sit down. It was a bit crowded inside but the vibe is nice and we were able to get a table without waiting too much. One minor note is that our cards were not accepted here (visa, Mastercard), so make sure you bring cash! They did a good job of communicating this before we ordered so we did not have to waste too much time, and luckily we had just enough cash anyway. Overall, very solid recommendation for Amsterdam! Surinamese food is not to be missed.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is good, with ample seating and a low noise level which allowed for soft conversation. The waitress was wonderful and the service excellent. Never before have we recieved such fast service and delivery of our all-you-can-eat selections. Everything was wonderful, the sushi fresh and very well prepared, the wait-staff well trained and attentive without being overly intrusive. I brought my three kids, twin boys of 10 and my daughter of 13, and the inevitable spills, mess and high spirits were all very well handled. Geisha is a really nice restaurant - dark and swanky, it was definitely a great place to have a meal. I also really dug the bar, which was super swanky and glass. This restaurant has a fairly limited sushi menu, but what we had was very good and fresh. But the dim sum menu was really the star of the show. We got iberico pork suimai which was REALLY good. And then the shrimp dumplings were also really delicious. The beef dumplings were also good but were pretty greasy and our least favorite. In addition I ordered the miso soup, which was possibly the best miso I have ever had. It was clearly made to order and came with a pool of lovely mushrooms - two kinds. It was absolutely delicious. Our waitress, who was the manager or owner was OK. She didn't write anything down and then had to come back to our table to verify our order. I also was somewhat disappointed that they charge you for tap water here (we were charged per little bottle they brought to the table). But other than that, it was truly a very nice meal.
