I came here with a few friends to try some Surinamese food in Amsterdam, as I heard it is one of the most well integrated cuisines in the Netherlands. Having never had it before, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many different parts of Asia seemed to influence this cuisine, especially given that Suriname is a South American country! There is satay, nasi goreng, goat curry, etc - stuff inspired from all over Asia but slightly different than you would get in their original countries. I ordered the chicken Longtong which is an Indonesian dish and a specialty of this place. It was OUTSTANDING and really filled me up too. I did not expect that especially given how nice and cheap it was - I had even ordered an extra side of Satay skewers which I then had to share. Service is nice and quick especially since you mostly just interact at the back stand to order, and then sit down. It was a bit crowded inside but the vibe is nice and we were able to get a table without waiting too much. One minor note is that our cards were not accepted here (visa, Mastercard), so make sure you bring cash! They did a good job of communicating this before we ordered so we did not have to waste too much time, and luckily we had just enough cash anyway. Overall, very solid recommendation for Amsterdam! We kwamen aan bij een gezellig eettentje, de geur van kruiden hing in de lucht. Zodra de bestelling gemaakt werd, wisten we dat we goed zaten. Finding good Surinamese food can be hard. What did I get I got zoutvlees (salted meat) stewed in beans and rice and also a saoto soup and bakabana. The soup was great, there was a generous amount of meat with a great serving of rice. I did not like the bakabana, the banana wasn't as ripe, and the batter was eh. The bean and rice was a very big serving! Personally I thought it was lacking something... Environment This was a pretty small restaurant. I didn't like the bathroom that was close to on of the tables, and the door doesn't close automatically. If it is busy it can be crowded very quick. Niceness of the staff Very nice staff. Very attentive. They were able to assist with my order. They also spoke English no issues. Dollar It was reasonable for me. This place serves some really delicious food, I really like the Barra with chicken and the Frieta! The menu is very big and they prepare everything pretty quick. I like this place for take-away but it is comfortable enough for eating in as well; enough space, chairs etc, but totally lacking in atmosphere, especially since everyone is walking in and out. There are also quite a lot of exotic drinks to choose from. Prices are decent and food is delicious so I definitely recommend this place. read more

They don't have an English menu, so we just asked the sweet guy behind the counter to pick what he thinks is best. We ended up with: Chicken satay with peanut sauce Beef curry with roti Stir fried noodles Lumpia And some fried bananas with a sweet peanut sauce It was all amazing! Favorites were the lumpia and satay. The noodles were a bit boring but we dressed them up with leftover peanut sauce and sriracha the next day and they were great. We ate ourselves silly and didn't want to stop, it was so good. Highly recommend! read more

Warung mini is not only known by locals, but also by police and staff that work ambulances. And they are known for a good reason: good price quality surinam take away food. After more than a year refurbushment they open their doors again. Just picked up my favourite: roti with chicken filet. read more

Came here for lunch today and got roti with chicken filet -- was so good! Beware the yellow sauce is super hot! I liked it a lot. I think it's great. For my lunch I paid a bit under €10. I left full and satisfied. Maybe next time I will pick up a dinner from here. I am sure my boyfriend will love it. It's fast and tasty, give it a try. read more

Wow! After so many friends telling me about this place I finally stopped in and had a fantastic dinner. There are plenty of vegetarian options and I could easily order the same vegetarian roti... special with tempeh over and over again but other people's plates looked so delicious that I'm wanting to work my way through the menu. Oh, my! Vegetarians - rejoice! This small restaurant creates some dang tasty food! The vegetarian options are super lekker and the portions are huge. I repeat: HUGE. It's a great spot for takeaway night. It's cheap. And, again...so dang tasty. The tempeh tastes really fresh, the noodles and nasi are not too oily and just perfect in flavor. After a very nice groupdiner i thought i found a new geeat place for food. Next time i got a few vegetarian dishes. To my surprise at home i found a chicken bone with some meat stil on it. Looked like used chicken!!! A month later i wanted to try again and tell the story what happened. An older guy said it was not possible. In general he said i was lying. They recently reopened after a year of remodeling and it's LIT. I didn't take photos of the place, but trust me, it looks nice and modern. I'm especially hooked on their broodjes, but their roti and rice meals are good too. After eating here, my stomach and wallet are both satisfied since the prices are great. When I lived in ADam I use to frequent this place. I believe they used to be on the Albert Cuypstraat. The roti met kip is hands down the best thing on the menu. I highly suggest it. read more

Best gado gado in town. Like my grandmother made it. This place is cheap and good. A soup and loempia for EUR4,- is a meal. Only thing is the sate: quality always differ, so I stopped ordering this dish. Good that they have so much more on the menu! Quite some vegetarian dishes too. read more
