I think this is our only option for pho in our area and thank goodness, it's GREAT! We tried the chicken satay for the first time tonight and it was fabulous. My boyfriend loved the peanut sauce and I loved the cucumber vinegar salad that was served along with it. Pho comes with all your typical fixings- beans sprouts, jalapeño, limes, hoisin, and siracha. I have since moved away from Waterloo/CFs, but I do come back because I have family in the area. For anyone and everyone who is looking for some authentic, reasonably SE Asian/Thai food, this IS a good place to go. I base this on two criteria. 1. Waterloo/Cedar Falls ain't exactly a large, metropolitan area, thus the diversity in cuisine and the public which they serve is not diverse. So it takes courage for the meat-and-potatoes American to venture from their bubble and try something new. 2. As far as *real* authentic cuisine goes, this is not bad! It is truly a gem that some authenticity has come out to the hick-ville, cornfields of Iowa. I applaud the owners/chefs to prepare such new foods and bring this city into a new realm of culinary consciousness. I gave a review earlier on the service, dining spaces, bathrooms, and food, this place has not lost its touch. I encourage everybody to try the food. Even the most novice of Thai-lovers can attempt pad-thai and reasonably be satisfied. I have three kids, two boys who are PICKY with their foods, picky enough that I'd smack them on their heads to venture away from chicken nuggets. But fortunately they BOTH ask me for pad thai on Friday nights (from our local thai restaurant), Asian Fusion did play a significant role in enlightening my boys' palate (thanks!). read more

People definitely sleep on Asian Fusion. I don't think I've had one item I didn't like. the chicken satay is definitely a favorite of mine. And their curry is AMAZING. Sakura is good and all but Asian Fusion is really where it's at. read more

A nice surprise. Fresh veggies. Great flavors. Pleasant atmosphere. Not sure why others are ragging on the place, I have yet to have a bad experience, bad dish (have had 6 different meals there so far), or anything else negative to say. Kids love the Pad Thai. Wife likes the fact that you can increase the heat from 1 to 5. I love the fact that it doesn't break the bank to take a family of 4 out to dinner unlike some of the other national pre-processed salt induced coma chain restaurants that dot University Ave. I mean, it's not mind blowing food. Let's face it, we live in Cedar Falls, IA. There is not much around here that is mind blowing. What it is however is a good selection of fresh Asian cuisine in a family friendly atmosphere. I honestly do not think you can go wrong at least trying this place out. *****UPDATE 04/05/18***** Well, I am not going to take any stars away (yet), I am still leaning in the "Yay! I'm a fan" rating, but have been losing faith over the past 6 months. I usually get the Pad Kee Mao, and it has recently been hit or miss, almost as if whichever cook is there that day cooks it slightly different. Sometimes chock-full of flavor, other times, not so much. So yeah, not sure whats happening there. Other dishes are good. Veggies remain fresh. Service is good. But I have been trying other places lately and have found myself not returning as often. Much needed place around the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. This is the only pho place in the area to my knowledge, glad they are around. Pho is good enough to keep the people coming back in. Now this is good Thai!! I had ordered from Ginger house earlier today and was very disappointed with both the pad tai and the Thom yum. Not the case here. The Thom yum is spicy and rich as it should be with lots of mushrooms, tomatoes and meat. The pad see ew is great too. The noodles are thick, the chicken isn't just little cubes. Also ordered firecracker shrimp. Very good and had fresh vegetable slices. Good stuff all of it! If/when I come back, I'll likely try some of their pho. I'll start by saying I give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe I went at the wrong time of night (7 on a Friday). We waited nearly an hour for our food (some pork egg rolls, red curry, and vermicelli). There were tables near us who were seated when we walked in, and they only got their food about 10-15 minutes before us. After waiting for my Jackfruit smoothie to be prepared, it was quite an enjoyable taste, somewhere between a banana and mango. I desperately missed the traditional tapioca balls or jelly though... it could have used it. The shredded pork egg rolls where very tasty too! They come with a rice paper wrapping and the same sweet/sour sauce they serve with the vermicelli. After having these two items, we grew increasingly hungry for our entrees. My vermicelli with slices pork and egg roll was pretty tasty, but I've had better down the road at Viet Noodle (where I can add in a red chili paste and hoisin sauce to my tasting). The red curry was a COMPLETE disappointment. It was like water flavored with spices. There was little to no coconut flavoring (which there should be in curry) and it was hard to finish. The only upside to the curry was the addition of eggplant. I didn't know there could be such a horrible curry in the Cedar Valley... Total, our bill was $32 for our appetizer ($4), two entrees($10 for vermicelli and $12 for the curry), and a smoothie ($4). I had the pad kee Mao at 3 peppers spicy and it was tasteless. The spice was a bit too much but that could have been my fault. Still the whole dish had no flavor and was just so dry. The only thing that was good was the tofu which is really hard to fuck up anyways. The appetizer was the shredded pork rolls which were ok but also extremely dry. I'm the end I drank more water than ate food and I wouldn't recommend either the food to anyone. I absolutely loved the Pad Thai with chicken. Delicate flavor and pleasing presentation. My food arrived fairly quickly. The server was friendly and attentive. He offered to refill my drink 3 times. And because I was rather thirsty, I accepted each time. The establishment was clean, beautifully designed and spaciously arranged. We chose to sit in a booth. Normally, I prefer tables. But these booths provided such an abundance of elbow room that I actually felt quite comfortable. We've been to this thai-vietnamese restaurant twice. It's descent quality vietnamese food, fresh and well prepared, without dazzling. We've had the bahn xeo, crisp savory vietnamese crepes, which where really good. Chewy and crispy and full of fresh veggies. We tried a vietnamese rice dish too, with a somewhat bland meat loaf, and vermicelli with something that might be tribes or beef tendons. It was salty and yummy, and chewy to perfection. Pickled pieces of sweet cabbage and some rather dull meat. The first time we went here with our two kids, the server was down right rude, impatient and inattentive. The second time it was a lot better. I had the three flavor drink, which was also good, even though it was obviously from cans. The interior is minimalistic and clean. Alright I am officially in love. This place has a very misleading name. If you look at the name, it appears as a "fusion" type of restaurant. So regardless of the time we went by, we often time purely ignore this little treasure. Finally we pulled trigger and went, let's give it a try. The interior of the restaurant was very neat and modern, and the price certainly reflected that (still reasonable). The menu wasn't extraordinary lengthy, unlike most of uber authentic restaurants which tend to make you ended up feeling lost in translation and have to order "#Z108". To my surprise, 80% of listed item was very traditionally Vietnamese, with the weird 20% Thai stuff. We ordered an appetizer, Viet crepe. I went for my classic choice of Pho, and bf got something house special, which included a amazingly seasoned T-bone steak, fresh vege, rice noodle with meat, and egg-pork meatloaf. The crepe itself was wonderful, crunchy and perfectly done with shrimps (could be a little more generous) and fresh bean sprouts. The only complaint I would give is it was a little too greasy. The Pho was what I expected except the broth came up luke warm and little under salted. The house special was so good, I was jealous at him with the food. One bite gave so many different flavor, and it was a meal that would make you feel so full, yet still healthy. Drink wise, bf got young coconut water (with truly "young" coconut pieces lol). Very refreshing. I again went for the Viet coffee and, sigh, another fail. You better really LOVE espresso to drink that 5 shots size of coffee. Waiter was very nice and kept on checking on us to make sure we wasn't confused with what we want. My gut feeling is this place should truly be called a Viet restaurant, with that weird 20% Thai cuisine. I wasn't overly impressed by this place. They did have really good service. But the food was sub-par. When trying out new Asian restaurants, I typically get the pad Thai to compare. If I can taste the fish sauce, it's not good Thai, and I could taste the fish sauce. I don't like seafood, and I could hardly eat it because it was so fishy. I also feel like it was too "chainy" for my taste. Asian restaurants should all be divey with the best food around. My sisters love the place. My fiancé and I were super bummed to find out Viet Noodle, a local Vietnamese restaurant, had closed. We were on our way to get some Japanese and out of nowhere we saw Asian Fusion! Tucked back in the corner of a strip mall parking lot. It is now our new official date spot! We started with the delicious spring rolls served raw, none of that fried crap! This was an excellent surprise! My wife & I went here last night. I lived in Thailand for three years and my wife has gone there to Thailand with me several times, and we love Thai food. I had the sortam and Pad See Oo. Tasted great! The somtam had just the right amount of spice, and the Pad See Oo was loaded with shrimp. My wife was very happy with her Pad Thai.
