The first time we grabbed takeout a few years ago and loved it, but every time we tried to come back they were either renovating or temporarily closed. So glad we finally made it happen! We ordered the Pho Saigon Corner Special (minus the tripe), and it totally lived up to the hype. The broth was rich and deeply flavorful -- super clean, but full-bodied with that cozy ginger-star anise depth you dream of in a good pho. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and high quality, and the portion was generous enough to leave us very full. Service was efficient and the lady was nice. We also got the spring rolls, which were fresh and tasty, though they did fall apart a little more than expected. Still a great appetizer. Yes, it's on the pricier side for Iowa -- but as someone from the West Coast who grew up eating a lot of Vietnamese food, I can honestly say the quality is worth it. What a surprise to find Saigon's Corner! It's located in the downtown area and parking can be a bit difficult but there's several covered lots within a block away. My husband and I were promptly seated and had our order taken quickly. We started with the shrimp and pork spring rolls which were excellent. We both ordered P3: Pho Saigon Corner special. It was loaded with rare beef, flank, tendon, tripe, and meatballs. The broth was savory with hints of ginger and star anise flavor. I'd put this in my top five bowls of pho I've had and I've tried quite a bit. The owner/cook came out and told us he makes the hot oil himself and asked us if we needed more broth. We could barely finish the bowls we had. With so much flavors going on I tend to keep my pho basic and just add the usual garnishments (sprouts, basil leaves, jalapeños, lime) but the hot oil was a nice touch and added an extra layer of spice. While not cheap at $17.95 a bowl it was a generous portion and some of the most delicious pho I've had so it certainly merits the price. I can see why Saigon's Corner gets so many 5 star reviews. Let me start by saying... Iowa City got a gem right here! I have tasted a lot of Vietnamese food especially pho and their broth is to die for! The restaurant is located in a nice area, place has a modern feel and the owners along with other staff are all courteous and generous. It feels like eating with families. They are very accommodating to the customer's needs. I believe the owner's name is Tyler who was willing to introduce us to different way of trying pho. You can tell he puts his heart into every dish he makes and you can taste it. Coralville location closed down so now this is the only Saigon Corner location. Since I Love Pho closed, this is also now the only spot on campus to get Vietnamese food. That being said, it is a great location (in the UCC, so take advantage of the 1 hour free parking) and super convenient if you're looking for a meal after classes as well. I have eaten here a few times. Pho and BBH have both been pretty inconsistent and "eh" in comparison to other Vietnamese restaurants in the IC/CR area. A few times I've had it the broth for the pho was really salty and dark (like it has been boiled too long/is old) but lacked any of the other flavor I was expecting from the broth. The tendon and other meats always seem to be cooked nicely and of decent quality though. I would personally recommend the cold noodles instead, I've had pretty consistently good luck with that. If you're from literally anywhere else besides Iowa City, paying more than $8-$9 for pho seems expensive, but $10-$13 is the norm here and Saigon's Corner is no different. I'm not sure if this also has to do with it but the portions at Saigon's Corner are also WAY too large for many of the dishes. I would rather pay $9 for a bowl of pho that I can actually finish vs $13 for a bowl (which is honestly enough to feed 2 people but if you're eating alone then oh well) that I won't. Service here is fine and the food comes out fairly quickly. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Overall it gets the job done if you're craving Vietnamese food and the location is perfect if you're a student or work downtown. read more

Went there for lunch with a buddy of mine, and man this place never ceases to amaze me. I'd been in before for Pho with my sister in the winter time, but this time around I wanted to try something new and boy was I in for a treat. We were seated fast, and our server George, was excellent. Typically waiters in Iowa City have this "I don't want to be here I hate my life" tone, but George was very chill and seemed genuinely interested in helping us out. I didn't go for the Pho this time, I tried the Special Saigon fried rice and I was not at all disappointed. The rice had like five different types of meat in it, and an excellent meat to rice ratio. The is the on-campus location of the beloved Saigon's Corner in Coralville. I have been dining at Saigon's Corner frequently since the owner of Zeika Pho (near Hy-Vee 2015) finally re-opened. I am even more thrilled to found that they opened on campus a few months ago. This place has been a go-to lunch spot for many of my friends as well. The food is always fresh and delicious. My favorite is P6, which is the round steak&beef meat ball Pho noodle soup. Nothing beats a bowl of hearty beef pho on a rainy day. I also like their pork&shrimp crispy egg rolls. They have pretty good portion size. Some of the rice entrees such as the fried rice and pork chop are huge. Wonderful takeout! Stopped on a roadtrip on a Monday night in Iowa City. Ordered bun bo hue and beef lemongrass to take back to hotel. I noticed that pho flavor didn't hit me immediately; it took a moment, and I believe it's because of their broth is not just salty stock simmering in back. I could tell they were just fried from the wok, but the presentation wasn't great. - Thai ice tea with pearls was creamy and yummy. I wish they would serve it in a glass instead of a styrofoam cup. I had a great time at Saigon's Corner last week! I went with a group for a friend's birthday (can you tell from other reviews who I went with??). But to reiterate what they have said, the space is casual and large and attached to a grocery store, which is convenient. The staff were very kind and accommodating since we had a larger group and wanted to surprise the birthday girl! They even brought us out a plate of egg rolls on the house! Holy cow, the portions are HUGE! I don't think a single person in our group finished their entire pho bowl. Their prices are very reasonable for how much food they are giving you. I got the veggie pho, and I really liked the noodles and LOVED all the mushrooms in it, so juicy - yum! I went with a group to celebrate my friends birthday and they were very accommodating and helpful, letting us push the tables together and even bringing out free egg rolls to everyone - so nice! I ordered the sliced beef pho which was delicious. Huge portions- I felt like I ate a ton and still had enough leftovers for 2 more meals! I definitely recommend adding the extra goodies they provide, like the chili sauce, bean sprouts and mint.
