I love good Chinese and Thai food so were hoping Asian Star would be the place to find it. We weren't impressed. We loved the little girl that seated us. She was so professional and cute. I asked about chow mein but our server didn't seem to know the difference between that and lo mein. My husband ended up ordering the broccoli beef combo. It was good. I ordered pad thai because that's also one of my favorites. It was quite different than any I had ever had. There wasn't much flavor. Our server brought our check. First time here. Parking is ample and shared with other businesses. Asian Star is located on the inside of the 'big Curve. Ya never know how well a new place for one of your favorite cuisines will turn out but we were hopeful! Seated immediately and given both Luncheon and Dinner menus (we were there on a Sunday at 2:00 pm and the restaurant was less than 1/4 full) . Lots to consider including Sushi, Sashimi and a variety of Bento Box meals. The sort of eggroll served here is the type We are accustomed to and we both noticed they had depth of flavor beyond most we've been served here locally so yeah!!!! Soups served didn't quite measure as hot As one would expect but were tasty. Both ordered identically Kung Pao Chicken and the chicken was tender but would have liked to have seen the waitperson to ask for chop sticks. She was a no show until she delivered the bill. The sauce flavorful carrots and celery but no bell pepper. Usually the crunchiest thing in Kung Pao is the peanuts on top but in this case the raw celery beat out the peanuts by a long shot! Our meal included crab Rangoon, Sushi and the Dragon and Phoenix Special from the Main menu. Portions are adequate. Prices are reasonable--they noted that they raised some higher to accommodate for inflation. Our favorites were the Sushi and the Phoenix/Dragon dishes. Both were delicious. Only drawback: There appeared to be more breading on the General Tso's chicken than there seemed to be meat. Service was friendly and attentive. Clean restaurant. I recently enjoyed the Singapore noodles here. I also like anything with the lo mein noodles.

Went to dine in and the food was really good, my favorite being the kimchi fried rice. The regular fried rice is also good! I tried the tiger roll and I enjoyed the roll with the sauce but was not really a fan of the red stuff(spicy tuna?) on top of it (I still ate the whole roll). Would probably not order that roll again but I'd be open to try the other sushi rolls. The orange chicken was good as well, I prefer it over Panda Express orange chicken. The service was also really good. The atmosphere was good too and it felt really clean inside. I forgot to take pictures of the food but I ordered food to-go and provided pictures of those. Wonton soup is good but it has mushrooms so if you don't like mushrooms try a different soup! I would definitely come again. 5 stars because I enjoyed the food a lot. read more

So, I got a flier from Asian Star in the mail last week. I looked it over very carefully comparing the prices to Sprouts and Fry's. I went in today for a late lunch. I was amazed with the decor. It is beautifully done. Very modern and minimalist. Then I was immediately sat at a table and given a menu. After a brief gander at it (I knew what I wanted), I gave the waitress my order for 3 sushi rolls for $13.99. and soup or salad. It came out promptly! I dug in with those chop sticks like Owen Wilson in Shanghai Noon! Delicious! So, you have to ask yourself, do you want expensive gas station sushi or authentic sushi reasonably priced in a wonderful environment? Go to Asian Star. It's grrrreeeeaaat! read more

Asian Star is a fusion restaurant you wouldn't expect to find in Yuma. Located in the Big Curve shopping area, they are still closed for indoor dining. However, they provide an easy and convenient online ordering system, or you can call in as well. Their delivery service is also super-efficient (for those lazy afternoons when you don't feel like making the 10-minute drive). Having tried most of their Chinese cuisine, I think I speak on behalf of the fiancée and myself when I say their eggplant chicken is top-notch. The chicken is wonderfully tender, and they do not skimp on the eggplant slices and sauce. We also like ordering any of their dumplings (the shumai is always a good call). Finally, for more carbs, we get either the chicken or vegetable chow fun. Like all their other dishes, they pack this one to the brim with an even distribution of ingredients. Add your complimentary rice and fortune cookies, and you have a couple of solid dinners. Be warned: If your spice tolerance is low, General Tso's Tofu will take you to war. Back when we were sick over the holidays, we ordered like two per week to sweat it out. Finally, a special thanks to whoever keeps giving us complimentary soup. I don't know who you are, but goddamn it, we appreciate you. As if we don't have enough food already! Sometimes we'll unbox our delivery to find a full-sized hot and sour soup. Other times, it's egg drop (a personal favorite). Might I recommend going easier on the starch, my friends. These soups are thick! There you have it. I'm not even sure why I continue to do this to myself when I visit Yuma for work. I really don't. This place is one of the few that will deliver and I'm just about the laziest person in earth so delivery it had to be! Food turned up quickly and hot. But the dishes lacked any depth of flavor and were for the most part edible but nothing I would crave or get excited about. I'm not sure what it is, but so far I've been sad with the Asian food here in Yuma. I guess now that I have burned through all the Asian restaurants that deliver, it's finally time for me to actually pick up my own food. Maybe then I'll find a winner? I ordered food for pick up. Drove 8 miles, 15 minutes into town. Grabbed my order and left. Three items. Pork Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Pork, and Broccoli Beef. I drive back home and unpack. Oh, they threw in a FREE Egg Flower Soup. How nice. We have everything else we ordered EXCEPT the Sweet & Sour sauce. I call, speak to the "manager" she says, "How about next time we make that for free." Well what am I supposed to with the food we picked up for our dinner tonight?!? I tell her I drove out there and back, and asked if they can meet me half way for delivery. She says their radius is five miles. I ask her, considering I drove out there, if they can't make the exception this time. Her response, "They only have one delivery driver." I hung up. Well, it's a Thursday night, it's about 6:30, I walked in and there's one Door Dash or Grub Hub driver waiting on an order, and two people walk in for a table in a empty restaurant. There is no one else there besides restaurant staff there. So, I can't see how driving out to meet me half way and make my order right is going to inconvenience them. As I said, I hung up. I use Instacart so I created a $10 order to meet the minimum and included Sweet & Sour sauce. My sauce is delivered but our food is lukewarm. The sauce doesn't taste as good as Asian Stars but at least it gives us Sweet & Sour Pork. I get a text message and it's the manager, Holly, apologizing again and offers to credit me next time. I reply and ask her to issue a credit this time. She replies that she will but she needs my card number. I called back and she issued the credit. My review would have been 1 Star based on the initial service alone, but I gave it 4 Stars because even with lukewarm food, bland Broccoli Beef and okay Sweet & Sour Pork (cause it wasn't their sauce), the Pork Fried Rice was as good as ever.
