We ordered the raspberry house lemonade but accidentally received the original. The server was kind enough to replace our drinks, even after we said we'd keep what we had. The pastas were filling, flavorful, and delicious. The calamari was a bit salty but had nice overall flavoring. ASK Italian is a great summation of the English dining experience--everything was moderately, completely, totally, absolutely average. The prosecco was tasty but not served nearly cold enough for sparkling wine. The pizza was OK. The rigatoni pasta dish I got wasn't bad, but it wasn't topped with nearly enough cheese. The meat in that dish was prepared just right, but then again, it was a small series of meatballs...that's par for the course, right? The desserts were a hit with my kids, but my experience with The Lemon was that it was a great effort but a dish with average flavors. I was later told by two locals that ASK is a chain that does the job but no one ever raves about the experience. That checks out. We needed a place to eat because the PizzaExpress across the street closed their dining room on the night we were meeting with friends, so we bailed and went to this ASK location instead. My fiancé & I are visiting some friends & family in Cambridge. We scheduled a few days to explore London and found this cute little place nestled between Gloucester Rd station and a local grocery store. We both ordered the margherita pizza. It was delicious! I didn't plan on stopping here, but it was getting late in the afternoon and I was hangry. Relying only on WiFi while I was traveling, I didn't have the chance to check Yelp before I visited, my mistake. I knew what I wanted to order and waited and waited to do so. They weren't super busy, maybe they were just short staffed, but service was lacking. I got a simple margarita pizza, which did come out very quickly, and was appreciated. Other than that, I was not impressed. The crust was thin and tasteless as was the sauce and cheese. Nothing tasted fresh or flavorful. I ate three slices (that I cut myself), only because I was starving. I've had much better pizza before. They do have free WiFi, which was a perk for me. I would have ordered another drink (since my first one was pretty short, check out the picture), but nobody came by. The main was supposed to be chicken breast Milanese style that turned out to be another frozen item thrown in the oven with too much oil sprayed on it and looking like a reconstituted chicken flesh. Staying across From this restaurant in Kensington. Thought I'd pop over and order take out to eat at my hotel room. Got there was given a menu then the person never came back! Stood there for about 10 mins and not a single waiter/waitress asked if I've been helped! Looked around and they must be very slow as three quarter of the tables occupied didn't have any food on their table. I ended walking out! Obviously customer service is an F! Will not recommend them to anybody. If I could give a zero instead of 1 star I would but it wouldn't let me. read more

If the photo looks a little odd - it's of the adjacent Waitrose - that's because this branch of the ubiquitous pizza and pasta chain is a little odd; it's part of the small shopping mall above Gloucester Road underground station, next to the supermarket. Although modern, it has high ceilings and large picture windows which look out one way to the busy Cromwell Road, and the other across the mall to Waitrose (which is only about 25 ft away). This can provide a slightly odd feeling if you're eating in the evening, watching people collect their groceries after work (as they watch you as they're queuing). The food is standard ASK fare, and therefore decent if unremarkable, but good value - you can have two courses, plus wine and coffee for about £25 a head. The service on my last visit was very friendly, if a little slow, as we arrived with a few other groups, so there was a 25 minute gap between the starter and main course (although they did apologise - unbidden - very nicely after about 20 minutes). So, it's OK if you're looking for a straightforward bite to eat, especially if you've been visiting one of the nearby museums, and it seems popular with families and tourists. Absolutely not for a romantic dinner though - unless you're trying to make a point read more

We visited this place on a family trip a few days ago, and the entire staff was so friendly and positive it made for such a welcoming experience. Some of the best Italian food I've had in a while, with a beautiful and cozy ambience (we were there around the holidays, but I expect nothing less year-round). Our waiter was kind, patient, and attentive. We ordered the garlic bread with mozarella which was so delicious and cheesy, along with two pasta dishes. I'm surprised that it's overall rating is only 3 stars. My husband and I were very happy with everything. He got the fresh peas, prosciutto and risotto and it was great. It is food, nothing special. Service was really really slow. My son had plain pasta, it was the best meal of the 4 of us. Wife had chicken which had no flavor. Calzone was ok but very small. Although the food is decent, the service was terrible. We waited over 45 minutes for our food from the time of ordering. The waitress knew we were waiting long and told us the food was on its way, but showed little remorse. It wasn't until 40 minutes later did the waitress check up on us and get the cooks to complete our meal quickly. Another waitress was kind enough to offer us additional drinks but our waitress did little to apologize. She cut us off constantly as if she didn't want to deal with the issue. Eventually, curiosity and laziness got the best of me and, one night, I ordered a pie for take away. Even though it only cost £3, I still felt as if I'd been ripped off. Cardboard and ketchup would have been better. Oh well. After that fateful night, I could never understand why the dining area of this restaurant always seemed packed. First night in town after flying from the west coast of canada and staggering around Kensington palace trying to shake the jet lag. Ask was a lucky find for our family of 5. Walked in and got the last free table at 7:30 on a Friday night. Lucky! We had pizza, pasta and salad that came quick and everyone tucked in with thumbs up reports to my query of how the first bites were. this has been my best italian food since coming to london. i had the fettuccini bolognese with spaghetti, and it was definitely shareable. it is also good to point out that the garlic bread is on a delicious pizza crust! the location is a bit wonky but that is made up for with the atmosphere. the wine glasses are more like goblets and he perfect size! overall amazing experience with incredible food. read more
