I first…read moreentered the building, which I thought was the main building and started wondering around trying to find the ticketing area, but there was none. I found myself in a gallery until a security guard told me that this is a ticketed area and told me to get a ticket from the gift shop. I went to the gift shop and bought my ticket and then they directed to a separate building where the museum actually was. While I walked there, I passed by an aquarium and walked in and it turned out that you need a separate ticket for it! I left the aquarium and continued my quest to find the museum. I passed by a garden with various statues, pretty cool and the museum and right behind that. Went into the museum building and walked in to what I thought was part of the exhibit and it turned out to be the back part of it and I was directed to go to the other end. Yes! I finally found it! They took my ticket and I entered the museum exhibit area. It's a gallery of the history of Mexico from ancient times to almost current day. I love that for most of the articles, there's an English translation below it as well. Definitely recommend checking out this museum. Don't get lost!

The museum is very well thought out, interesting and well designed. It gives a history focusing on the Baja California region of Mexico. It was very informative and helped to learn a lot about the area, its indigenous people and how it came to be the Baja we know today. I enjoyed it immensely though do wish there was more emphasis on the indigenous communities and their contributions to the culture and not so heavy on the impact of the Spanish especially the priests and monks. They do history a disservice by not mentioning the atrocities that transpired against the native people by the conquerers both religious and otherwise in the name of religion and "gentrification". We need to be honest, so that these crimes against humanity are not soon repeated.

We entered through the courtyard where several small vendors sold souvenirs. It was convenient for me to pick up a few gifts for friends in a low-key setting compared to the crowded shopping spots around Ensenada. Walking around the building, there is a mural highlighting missions along the coast, various rooms with historic artwork and preserved architecture. I especially liked this circular room that had art on the ceiling. We made our way to the bar where they gave samples of margaritas and Mexican coke. This exits to the outdoor area where many people relaxed on the lawn. Cool spot! We spent roughly an hour here. I would come back for another margarita. Maybe get the mango next time :)

The locals refer to it as Ex-hotel Riviera. It is now used by the Mexican government to manage different types of municipal business. I drove from Sacramento to Ensenada as part of the dual citizenship campaign that happens once a year. I've been working diligently to get dual citizenship for my children as I am dual citizen, myself of Mexico and the USA. They could not have chosen a better location to perform such a ceremony. There is a restaurant on site, but I did not get an opportunity to try the food. If you appreciate history of Mexico, this might be a neat site to walk-through.

A historical & cultural landmark that's not to be missed…read more Brief history of the park, its 7 acres of the most Chicano murals in the world. In the 60's the neighborhood was demolished and split in two for the freeway with a promise of a park as a compromise, which was later rescinded. In 1971 after protests against the withdrawal of the promise the park was signed into law and the murals came soon after. It's an emotional experience looking at the murals and words, given the history of it. Because of the efforts of many we can now enjoy the park , kids can play, families can gather, and those of us who visit can learn and admire the artwork.

In the graffiti, poems scribbled on the walls, dancers performing on the streets, local bands playing every chance they get... it's great! It's just a shame that the city lacks a cultural center that can hold and give home to this. It's because of that reason that I am a fan of every museum in Tijuana. This is obviously not an exception. You can easily identify the structure of this building miles away. It's huge! The good thing is that there is always a new exhibit on display. They really try to cover all grounds from photography to classical painting. Amazing lecturers as well, the curators do an amazing job at finding just the right talent to bring along. Just as a bonus tip, they do offer some art courses. For more information don't hesitate to contact them since the times/courses are always changing. I'm confident that they are all good though. The professors in here are knowledgeable and patient.

Their offerings are extensive and I tried to cover the entire museum in 2 hours. I will say though, that if you're short on time, do not skip this just because of that. El propósito de este centro es promover el arte entre adultos, jóvenes y niños, para lograr esto el centro cuenta con algunas exposiciones permanente al igual que exposiciones que cambian con temporadas. Algo que descubrí cuando vine aquí y que me gusto mucho es que ofrecen cursos dedicados para la educación del arte. El programa tiene tres niveles. El primero es introducción a las artes. Este programa cuenta con diferentes actividades progresivas que van mas dirigidas hacia jóvenes y niños. El segundo es un taller de creaciones, dirigido hacia jóvenes. El tercero es un curso de profesionalización. Este curso es el mas intensivo y va dirigido a estudiantes que les interese convertirse en docentes. Vale la pena venir aquí, las exposiciones son de lo mejor y el estacionamiento es amplio y gratis.

Regardless, the free entry automatically made the visit a great value. This is a small museum (and even smaller now due to unfortunate damage caused by landslides in recent years) with a gorgeous interior, a vibrant garden, and regal ocean views. The interior includes many collected works of fine art that betray quite good taste, something to be attributed to the provenance of the home. I liked that because it was during the winter holiday season, the house was decorated accordingly; I wonder what the house looks like during other times of year! I am not sure how involved the museum docents are meant to be, but they appeared happy to show us around and give further explanation on some details of the house. Important note: public restrooms are available, and also there are even functional in-situ bathrooms. Using one made me feel like I was a proper guest to the home. This will probably be a good time for the whole family, if art and culture is something yours values. I'm bringing my mother on my next visit, hopefully on another free day.

Also don't trust the valet my car ended up having issues after the fact.
