I have been putting off going to the dentist for a little over a year due to the fact that I am…read morepetrified of Dentists and unnecessary procedure, unnecessary pain, long wait times, only to be told "you need this and this and 14 more procedures." I went in this morning with my anxiety through the roof. I was called right back. I was shaking while they took xrays. After the hygienist left the room I seriously considered bolting. Before I could this very YOUNG woman walks in and starts talking to me like weve been friends for 10 years. I even had to ask if she was the Doctor. Being in the medical field I know how confusing some physicians can be with the way they speak to their patients. Sometimes they forget the average person has no idea the verbiage they are using. Dr Drew was not this way at all. She sat down so that we could have a conversation face to face and didnt stand over me to intimidate me. She explained what was absolutely critical to address immediately and then gave me the option of a few other ''problem areas''.............SHE GAVE ME OPTIONS. By no means did she TELL me what I had to do. She respected patient rights and made me feel like a real person that didnt want to be there anyway. After all that I sat down with the financial advisor (who was just as great) and we scheduled a follow up. I will never go in search of a different dentist again. I will follow her (one step away from stalking) to any practice she decides to go. She and her entire staff were amazing and I have an all new perspective on Dentistry. Im no longer waiting for anything. I appreciate all she did and cant wait to get all this stuff taken care of. Thank you very much "anything"

So think about it before you use Aspen dental.

Update: Aspen customer service advised me that charging patients more than the insurance approved…read morepre-estimate is not company policy. I am sharing this in hopes of saving others time, stress, and money. I will admit that I did not behave appropriately during my final interaction with the office. I left upset and called Lacy a vulgar name in front of other patients. That was wrong, and I take responsibility for it. My opinion of how I was treated by her, however, has not changed. My concern is with the billing practices in this office. I previously worked in medical billing in a supervisory role, so I understand insurance contracts, allowable amounts, bundled charges, pre-estimates, and patient responsibility calculations. Several things about this situation raised serious concerns for me. I was told I needed to pay half of a $5,600 treatment plan up front for crown replacement work. That part was not the issue. The issue was that the office was not charging the insurance approved amount. Half down should have been approximately $1,309, yet I was asked to pay more than double that amount before treatment. When I contacted my insurance company, they advised me that billing above contracted allowable amounts may violate provider agreements. They also advised me they would be reviewing their relationship with this office. My insurance company attempted a three way call with the office to clarify the billing, but the office declined because they stated they were no longer willing to treat me. I simply wanted an explanation as to why the office was attempting to charge amounts that did not align with the insurance approved pre-estimate. Contracted insurance rates are not subjective. The office repeatedly stated they had called my insurance company with all procedure codes to provide accurate pricing. However, the insurance representative I spoke with stated there were no notes showing that such a call occurred. They did confirm that on 5/6/2026 coverage was verified, and the pre-estimate from Aspen was received that same day. According to my insurance company, the written pre-estimate overrides verbal benefit quotes. The pre-estimate reflected a patient responsibility of approximately $873 per crown including buildup. The office attempted to charge approximately $1,903 per tooth. The office also collected $236 for items I was later told were "no charge" items and that, to my knowledge, were not used during treatment. Communication with the office manager, Lacy, was extremely difficult. I was repeatedly interrupted and could not get a direct answer as to why the office was not honoring the insurance approved pre-estimate. At one point she also stated they had not yet received the pre-estimate from insurance, despite insurance later confirming otherwise. She repeatedly stated that "this is Aspen's policy," which Aspen customer service later told me was not true. By the end of the interaction, Lacy seemed oddly proud to lose a patient. As I walked out, she had a very smug expression, almost like she had handled this conversation many times before. I was surprised by the lack of professionalism during the financial portion of my experience. I encourage patients to carefully review treatment plans, pre-estimates, EOBs, and itemized charges before agreeing to large upfront payments at this office This says it all https://fox4kc.com/news/problem-solvers/more-patients-come-forward-after-fox4-investigation-into-chain-of-dental-practices/?fbclid=IwZnRzaAR7KSxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEez9cS4eBlhO8FfvQlob-jmio-7IgcT56kbLtEo7QZpoviOfiCdaTRIeUg5kw_aem_w3E6CsAAPrq4sIRze_BEhQ

I then called later and explained I can not afford a crown and it needs either pulled or filling. They did not say they can do either they just kept trying to convince me to come in and talk to them. I refused. Why can't they just tell me the price of what I wanted and not of everything wrong with my teeth. This is crazy. Do not go here!!!!

She wanted dentures after getting all of her teeth pulled years ago behind a health concern. This was our first time going to this office. It was a wonderful experience. I loved how they treated my mama. I love how they seem like a small town office. Every visit we've done since then, they've not only known her but also known me. I love little details like that.

In case you don't get to the bottom of my experience explanation, Aspen charged me for my cleaning…read more(of course that's fine), and then gave me "FREE" x-rays by cutting my gum open, not thinking it was an immediate issue, and causing me to go elsewhere due to the severity of the cut. That cost me $1,102 to have a good, respectable dentist do some invasive stuff. Ever have bone come through a tear in your gum that you have to get shaved and filed down? I can't remember the last time I had tooth pain. It had to be middle school or earlier. Yet a few days after I had my first appointment here, I developed pain in my tooth that they put a filling in after one had apparently fallen out. Assuming it would go away, I didn't give it much thought. As it continued to get worse, I called in to have it looked at, explaining my pain was increasingly worse and I couldn't eat. The receptionist was not friendly and did not seem to take my pain seriously, saying they couldn't get me in for over a week. I have an appointment with Village West Dentistry tomorrow, so I will add to this review once they tell me what Aspen has possibly caused. Should it be unrelated, I will delete the majority of this negative review. However, the part about not taking my pain seriously will stay within the review. Update: Called next day around 11:00 to request copies of x-rays. It was during business hours, but it went to voicemail. I left my name, number and reason for calling. Guess what? I never got a call back. This office is getting on my last nerve. Update: Again. Called next day to ask that x-rays be sent to new dentist. I would have to fill out a consent form (perfectly fine), they would then send that to corporate (why?), and then it would be 7-14 days before they send them. I asked my new dentist about it, and he said he has never heard of a company that couldn't just get consent and then email them all in the same day. Thanks again for the ridiculousness, Aspen. Update: New dentist was able to immediately send X-rays and visit details to a periodontist of my choosing. Aspen can't do that. Update: $667 at a periodontist because the tear from how Aspen took x-rays with the always uncomfortable tabs you have to bite on. They had to use stitches and file bone that was now showing. Update: $1,102 dollars out of pocket because Aspen created a lot of damage from the "FREE" X-rays. If you don't want an unexpected payment plan, probably go somewhere else.

I wasn't a huge fan of my hygienist but I figure it just wasn't a fit for us (my husband and I). She did a good job on the teeth. Dr. Silverstein is surely competent but he is kind of pushy when it comes to doing what I would call "extras". I feel like we both walked away from our appointments having spent more money (upwards of $1,500 on mineralization, hardening treatments, root protectants, 2 partial fillings on my husband, and sealants. However, I really didn't like when they said that "dental insurance is more of a discount than actual insurance". I disagree, it may be less comprehensive than medical insurance but everything kind of felt like excuses. "We don't know if it'll be covered"... I've heard most of the dental practices in the area are kind of pushy so maybe this is the norm.
