I have been going to Gentle Dental for maybe 20 years. Dr. Brewer was great and after his retirement, Dr. Seaman became my dentist. I have always had great experiences here. I can tell that Dr. Seaman keeps up on the latest technology and methods. He has a very calm personality, which is great if you have any anxiety about going to the dentist. Talking about her bf problems in the front of the office. Your bf is cheating on you sweetheart, stop crying and talking about it first thing on a Monday morning. So unprofessional. Be careful with Gentle Dental. They have a practice of up charging patients for services that are covered by insurance they don't submit to insurance. They have agreed they owe me $87 because of such charges. I've been waiting 3 months for payment. The say they can only email corporate which i find hard to believe. read more

Now I got a call back...saying the credit was a mistake and I OWE money to them but because of the error they won't charge me. Avoid this place at all cost. *************** I was contacted 1/9 for a refund due to an overpayment they charged me. I provide them with my info and they still haven't refunded me. I've called several times to just be told I would get a call back and no such call back after a month. Also, when I got my wisdom teeth out, they failed to sign the prescription so my pharmacy couldn't fill it (why they didn't send it electronically to my pharmacy is beyond me). They didn't give me an after hours call back number (surgery was done on Saturday and they closed for the weekend right after). So I was in pain and didn't have any antibiotics for the whole weekend. I left several voicemails to no call back until mid-Monday. I let this go but now with the refund issue, I'm about to file a complaint with the BBB and reach out to the KS Dental board. read more

I had a very bad first impression of Gentle Dental. My first hygienist was not friendly and was just quick to get through my appointment. Seemed to have no interest in me. I also wasn't informed my first appointment wasn't going to be a cleaning, it was just to see what teeth were like. I had to come back later that week for my cleaning. My second visit however was the opposite! Kara was so personable and definitely took time to have conversation with me. After my 3rd visit today I am still satisfied. The front desk is friendly and they even have a monthly raffle. The only thing is I'd wish the dentist would introduce himself and that my hygienist said goodbye! read more

If you like to be worked on in an assembly line of hygienists and treat like wise go there. The main work is done by hygienist assistance the hygienist shows up to do the last things like polishing. They always try to up sale things and stuff like sealant and other stuff. read more

We've gone here for years over time and we see Dr. Seaman, he is wonderful and good at what he does. He is considerate, but also efficient with his time. (We all want someone to sit and listen to us until we're that next person in line waiting!) I have random questions at times, and he's always happy to listen and respond thoughtfully. I went yesterday expecting a general cleaning and they didn't do it..so disappointed. Then I realized, when I went to them for the first time the same thing happened. They take xrays, then come back telling you how much it's going to cost for a deep cleaning without even cleaning your teeth for the free one included in my plan. I pay over $600 a year for 2 free cleanings a year. I have NEVER received them at this office. The same thing to my son couple weeks ago. It never dawned on me that they were going for the bigger bucks until yesterday. I think it's time for me to find a new dental OFFICE. read more

The people that work here have been super nice. I go to Dr. Brown and she has been wonderful. I hate going to the dentist but she knows how to take care of her patients. Ever since I started coming here I don't dread it nearly as much. If they take your insurance they do a pretty good job of making sure you maximize your benefits. I love that they have night and Saturday appointments as well. I only have two small negitives. The first is the very first time I went there it took a while, but I think the main reason was because the assistant I had was new and honestly didnt seem like she understood any kind of technology. (but I dont know if she still works there, haven't seen her since.) The other thing is they didn't accept my boyfriends insurance and they didn't do a very good job of trying to communicate that to him before he attempted to go to his appointment. October of 2022 I paid Gentle Dental $4300 for two root canals and two crowns. 3 months later (January) my first crown came off with my tooth broken inside of it down to my gum line. I saw a different dentist than the one who did my work and he explained to me how a post was not put into the tooth therefore it could not withstand the weight of the crown. He said there is a 20% chance it cannot be fixed but that I would need to see the original dentist or I would have to pay him as well. The original dentist told me the tooth could not be saved and offered me a new treatment plan with a refund. The dentist said In hindsight the tooth should have been pulled. I was already missing the third tooth so there would have been no reason to have me pay for a root canal and crown on EITHER tooth. He agreed that was fair and last Friday Brittany the office manager told me I was approved a refund of $1783. Today Whitney from corporate called and said it's been a wash and they owe me nothing. I only agreed to let the dentist fix his mistake bc I was getting a significant portion of my money back. Instead he PULLED the tooth I paid over $2000 to fix only 3 months prior and now refuses to give me my refund I was promised. I now have incomplete dental work and am out $4300. read more

Gosh, has it been 10 years since I first started coming here? Honestly, for the first few years the doctor turnover rate was a bit high. But it seems like it's stabilized a lot more lately. Dr. Brewer is sort of the rock/mainstay of this practice and he's an extremely affable guy. He took care of an implant for me that's been flawless. Makes me a little less apprehensive about if I might get any teeth knocked out in the future. ;-) The front staff is always peppy but straight forward and will get down to brass tacks when the situation calls for it. As with every medically related place I've gone to, it pays to do your due diligence on making sure estimates are correct (because, let's face it, they're called treatment plan estimates for a reason.) The new location is smaller than the previous one, but the space is much better utilized, and all of the equipment has been upgraded. read more

I have been a patient at Gentle Dental since 2007-2008, I even recommend co-workers to the practice. I continued to be a patient even after they moved offices. Dr. Brewer and his hygienist were fantastic and I only have positive things to say. Dr. Brown was fantastic as well. She worked on my implants and we struggled but I always looked forward to my appointments with her. Now to why the low review... After Dr. Brown left the practice I had an appointment for my implant that was loose. The two dentists in front of me were bashing Dr. Brown. I found this to be extremely unprofessional. But I never said anything. Several months later I had to get a root canal and a crown my first and last I hope. I paid for this in advance which was several hundred dollars. When I went in to get the permanent crown on, (mind you they cancelled my appointment more than once) I was ushered into a room to talk about an outstanding bill. This outstanding bill was from several years ago and it was due to the fact the turnover at the front desk was unreal that year. My employer changed insurance companies and the incompetent front desk kept submitting it to the old insurance even though I told them over and over what group number was active. I stopped hearing about it and never received a bill or statement so I assumed they finally billed the correct company. So years go by, I get my cleanings annually, I get two implants, I get a root canal and crown, and nothing is ever said. So when I start to talk this new staff member she tells me about this outstanding bill and I cannot get my paid for crown until I pay this bill. I go over the story with her and again I have to pay this or I can't get my already paid for crown. So I paid it. I am not arguing the fact I owed the bill. I will always paid my bills, the problem I have is that I have a very good insurance plan and always had the last 11 years with three separate employers and I shouldn't of had to pay this. But because this was from several years ago I was not at that employer anymore. I will not be going back and my friends that I recommend to go those 10-11 years ago, they are no longer going either. This actually makes me sad because I do like some of the people a lot there. But please save your frustration and find a new place. read more

Nothing but frustration and disappointment here. I was in the unfortunate situation of needing to make a same day dental appt on a Friday after I had a chipped tooth needing repair. My regular dentist is closed on Fridays and Dr. Brown had same day availability so I scheduled for that afternoon. Unfortunately I would soon find out why she had availability. Long story short, my right front tooth was chipped and needed repair. I have had this repair done multiple times as the original chip occurred in fifth grade. Dr. Brown surmised that the "only option" was to make the chipped tooth noticeably shorter than the other front tooth. This was upsetting because I rather liked my smile and had spent considerable money on braces to make it this way. I voiced my concern but was again told that was "the best we can do" so I believed that was the case trusting a "professional." I left frustrated and overcharged. I was told to pay $135 and did so at that time July 31. I have since gone to my regular dental office for a previously scheduled cleaning/checkup, upon going and seeing my dentist she was puzzled as to why the job was done in that manner. I explained the situation how I was informed that was the best option and she immediately disagreed. She asked where I went for the procedure and she wanted to book an appointment to fix it properly and has since done so and it is back to being perfect! While trying to get this sorted out I have spoken with my insurance company and was informed that they took care of all but $27 of the repair initially meaning I was overcharged by $108! Not only was I given substandard care, but overcharged to do it! I called Dr. Brown explaining the circumstances and that I wanted a FULL refund and chargeback to the insurance since her substandard work had to be redone properly at a different office. She agreed to send me back the amount that was overcharged since I called to check on it, otherwise who knows how long they were planning on holding onto it, nearly three months so far! Unfortunately for the rest of the billing, she explained that she is "standing behind her work." There would be no refund and she was satisfied with the work she performed. This either means that she is not able to perform the procedure any better or just simply does not care about the aesthetics of her patients. In either case I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Brown to friends or anyone for that matter. There are plenty of better dentists out there, and I would be glad to recommend some great ones if you would like to contact me. read more

I have been going to Gentle Dental for about four years now, with mostly positive experiences. I see Dr. Brown and almost always have Dawn as my hygienist. Both women are very friendly and knowledgeable. They have always answered any concerns I have had with their advice and explained things very well. Dawn especially is very thorough in her cleaning and in her advice to me. I also love how this office has flexible hours (until 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and also Saturday hours). Another big bonus for me is that it is super close to work and home. My biggest complaint with Gentle Dental--and why I am not giving them five stars--is that I have had SEVERAL billing issues with them. Luckily I was raised to be conscientious about medical (and other) bills, so I review my bills carefully and always call when I find a problem or inconsistency. I think I have had to resolve an issue on three different occasions, and fortunately matters were taken care of very quickly every time--otherwise I would not have been back. So if you do go to this dentist, check your bill very carefully! So far they have been excellent at giving me the appropriate refunds for times they have overcharged me. For example, one time, they did x-rays when they should have waited until the next appointment. I should have spoken up at the time because I had thought they had just done x-rays, but then I assumed I was mistaken. Always speak up! When I got my bill, insurance hadn't covered the x-rays because I had two sets done within a year. I called and explained to the billing office what had happened, and they got it straightened it out and I didn't have to pay. (By the way, the person who decided to do the x-rays was a different tech--not the hygienist and not the dentist. I can't remember her name, and I don't know if she is still there.) Despite the billing issues--which again, I am happy to report have always been resolved--I am pretty happy with this dentist office and the treatment and care I receive here. I have had to get a couple of fillings done, and they are always done promptly (usually at the end of my regular cleaning appointment, when the cavity is discovered) and with little pain or discomfort. read more

Wish I'd read the online reviews before going here! They tell you that you need all kinds of things that you don't need. They tell you it's going to be one amount and then try to claim later that you owe more than the original agreed upon amount. You'll make an appointment for one thing and they'll tell you that you need other things and you have to come BACK another time. It's just an awful practice. read more

Front desk staff was great, very personable. The young lady that cleaned my teeth was very pleasant as well as the other young lady that cleaned my teeth. They both did a wonderful job! My problem is with the actual dentist, I laid there in the office for at least 15 minutes before I had to complain to get the Dentist to see me. She came in, offered no explanation to why she was late. My thing is if I make an appointment and pay for the service I would appreciate the Dentist to be on time, if I were over 15 minutes late my appointment would have been cancelled and I could be charged for the appointment anyway. If I am on time and respect others time I expect the same. I understand emergencies come up but to be late without one is unacceptable. read more

The front desk staff and/or policies are frustrating.First off, my secondary insurance was not put on file the first time I brought my children there. I found this out when we returned the second time. They tried calling my secondary insurance company but couldn't reach them (office closes at 3pm eastern time). I was told that I had to pay around $80 at the time of the appointment, instead of them billing my secondary insurance prior to billing me. I admit that my secondary insurance isn't a typical insurance company, but all other offices still bill them prior to billing me. I was not going to pay for something I didn't have to pay for. I already showed them the email confirmation from my healthcare coordinator, so the entire bill would have been covered. I left and plan to reschedule once they get their act together and get in touch with my insurance company. It was a very disappointing experience and a great inconvenience, however we will return. read more

I have gotten 2 separate bridges and 2 root canals, along with a cleaning. This all happened on 3 different occasions and each time has been a really good experience. My teeth were really bad and I was very self conscious about going to the dentist. Thankfully everyone treated me with kindness and it ended up being a very smooth process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that is looking for a place to get dental work done, or just needs a cleaning. This is the first time I have bothered to right a review and it's the least I can do for the service that was provided. read more

I was given a ph# through this yelp review. I thought I was going to talk with the person who responded to this review, instead what I got was the customer service line. It was nice that they would file a "complaint" through the corporate office, but it would take 30 days to receive my refund....if I receive one. It's too bad that the dental office couldn't have just worked with me. These people are old school and not in a good way. With my experience with some dentists they try to put you in the most helpless place they can monetarily and with treatment. I am thankful for Yelp and other social media that gives power to the patient/consumer. And also for the BBB and court system. The thing I am angry about the most is the name is "GENTLE Dental" and it is nowhere near that. They need to invest in new equipment and learn some new customer service protocol. read more

I Ended up with a root canal after their dental work failed. I went to a gentle dental after a recommendation from friend. They seemed nice but nice doesn't make them good. I had a crack tooth I had been waiting to fill (while it wasn't bothering me) I decided to get it fixed at Gentle Dental. I should've know it was a bad idea when they said they were going to charge me about $165 for laughing gas because it wasn't covered by insurance. Less then three months later, I started having extreme tooth pain around the area they fixed. By that time my insurance had changed, when I called Gentle Dental I found out they didn't take my new insurance and didn't seem to want to fix their damage or care I was in pain from their terrible dental work. It was a blessing because I found a great dentist down the road from Gentle Dental who got me in right away, only to find out that I now needed a Root Canal because Gentle Dentals work wasn't done correctly! My tooth is now fixed and feels great! And by the way they only charged me $35 dollars for laughing gas. I wouldn't wish the pain I went through with them on my worst enemy or recommend Gentle Dental to anyone. read more
