I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time...I mean, a looooong time. The staff were kind and helpful, the dental hygienist was also nice and professional, and the dentist was very informative and helpful. He took the time to truly explain various elements of my oral health so that I could understand. The woman who helped explain the various costs of the procedures I will need was also very straight forward and helpful (which I appreciated as I am currently without dental insurance). I would definitely recommend Aspen Dental to my friends (and already have). Also, they currently have a deal going on right now that gives you a free check-up AND dental x-rays if you don't have insurance. Now you have no excuse not to go in to get checked out. read more

They are easily the most expensive place you can go for a dentist in the area and the care is not great. They WILL say you NEED very expensive care and you probably don't need it. People need to be warned about this place and please get a second opinion if they tell you that you need that really expensive gum deep clean that costs almost $2000 with really decent dental insurance (decent for dental insurance). As far as I can tell, they tell everyone they absolutely need that treatment. Not one person I know who went there has been told they don't need it. Those that go elsewhere are always told they don't need it by another dentist. When I went to a new dentist they said, "Yeah, you've got a lot of plaque, but we can fix this with more regular cleanings." And those cleanings are NOT nearly $2000 a pop. I also found that every service there is SO much more expensive than a non-chain, non-corporate dentist. You will pay easily twice as much for everything. They will sit with you and go over how much it is going to cost and they will be really nice and understanding about it. But those prices are insane and not normal for other dentists in the area- please know that going in. Please shop around. When I switched to Horizon down the street, my bills for some really extensive dental work went WAY WAY down. And the services aren't great at ASPEN either, and the people are really fake. I went there because I had a dental emergency and really needed a rather large filling. The dentist was polite at first, but she was really kind of rude when I was in the chair and I could tell she was just frustrated most of the time. I got a crown. The crown fell out twice, once when I was eating a caramel, but the second time, I was eating tuna salad. There are other things, like the Brattleboro location doesn't have a hygienist (they probably don't pay enough, I'm guessing their dentists are way underpaid as well.) They sent me to Keene to get that done, my appointment was for 1:00 and everyone there did not show up back from their lunch break when they close the entire office until 1:15. Absolutely terrible experience. X-rays by assistant and examination by dentist. Dentist was patronizing, arrogant and dismissive. Dentist said they have no hygienist and don't expect to hire one for some time. When presented after a lengthy wait with an over $8,000 total bill with no itemized listing of the proposed work to be done with respective itemized costs, by an equally arrogant "office manager", the only itemized work was scaling to the tune of over $1200.00, I realized why they will not be hiring a hygienist anytime soon. They also charged my insurance for services they advertise as free. Obviously, not free. I have dentures through Aspen Dental. Between getting what was left of my teeth removed and the dentures themselves, it was an $11,000 investment. Lo and behold, a tooth snapped off the other day, which is the 2nd time this has happened on the same exact tooth. I called to get an immediate appointment, I was told they were leaving the office for the day and would have to wait until Monday, which was fine, but the person on the phone had the audacity to tell me "It's not a big deal." How incredibly unprofessional. Sure, it's not a big deal to the person on the phone who has all their teeth. It's a pretty big deal to me when I'm missing one of my front teeth for the weekend. If I didn't have dentures with a 7 year warranty through Aspen, I don't think I would have anything to do with them. read more

I was seen because of an abscess. It had Ben over a year since I had a cleaning. Full exam, X-rays and gum assessment and rating. My gum rating was really poor. The recommendations were, scaling, pull the infected tooth or have a root canal. The estimated cost was over $2000. Went to Mondovi Dental in Keene for 2nd opinion. My gum assessment was so much better with only 3 teeth requiring deep scaling. Dr. Yudin was outstanding. He recommended trying to save the tooth by flushing out fluid around tooth root. My cleaning, scaling and incidental filling totaled $725. My 2nd opinion saved me $1,100!!! Don't fall for the Aspen Dental hype. They pad their bills and are less than professional. read more

I don't recommend any one to go to the Aspen Dental in Keene NH. The reason is because the people that work there are rude. And they pretend to act nice. A man was getting his mouth worked on in the next room over from me and he started drooling and the young lady that was working on him was laughing and the man was all upset about it. When my appointment was done and I was walking out to my car the lady's that were working was just standing there at the counter giving me a mean stare while I was walking by. If you don't have insurance be aware. They offer free xrays and dental assessment. The result will inevitably be that the patient has periodontal issues which will require a series of "deep cleaning" appts - antibiotics - and scaling. The estimated bill will be $1300+. And then the patient, if they stay with Aspen, requires lifetime periodontics maintenance at double the fee for a standard teeth cleaning (prophylaxis), despite the condition of their gums or teeth. If the patient doesn't want to accept this course of treatment then the suggestion to go to another dentist is made. For Aspen it's our way or the highway. Recommendation. Get the free xrays and dental assessment. When they come up with the "treatment plan" of $1000+ they'll expect you will make an appt to start the plan. Make the appt - seek a second opinion and cancel the Aspen appt. Make sure you don't sign anything that requires you to be treated by Aspen. read more

While on vacation in VT my front tooth/post came out. Website stated AspenDental has walk-ins/emergency treatment. Called the Brattleboro VT number (which turned out to be Aspen's call center) and told to make an appointment so I'm in the system and then go to Brattleboro as a walk-in. Drove 40 minutes to find that they are closed Wednesdays; rechecked the web which stated they are open. Re-called the Brattleboro number -this person said she can't see office hours, but noted that there are no appointments listed today in Brattleboro so they must be closed. I asked her to check Keene, NH. She could see appointments there so said I should go as a walk in. After a 30-minute drive, the Keene staff said there was only 1 dentist and my chance of being seen was basically zero. Also Brattleboro was short staffed and only open a few days due to lack of dentists. I am extremely disappointed that the AspenDental website, building signs, and call center state they take walk-ins/emergencies when they have so few dentists employed. The call center also needs to know the days open for their offices. After spending 4 hours on website, speaking with call center, and driving to 2 offices, my dental issue was not resolved by AspenDental. read more

My appointment itself (well before Covid) was great - I was actually surprisingly pleased, and my only concern about the appointment itself was that I wasn't told that I was getting an elective service not covered by my insurance prior to actually getting it. Long story short, they told me I would have to have a root canal and a crown. They also told me I needed a raft of other work done and wanted to sign me up for a $3,000 credit card loan then and there before they would do anything to fix the broken tooth. Needless to say, I declined. I went to Bowman Dental in Walpole. They fixed my tooth, I did not need a root canal or a crown. I decided to try Aspen Dental since I just moved to town and have no dental insurance. They seemed to be running a number of specials, including a free exam and x-rays. I was skeptical right away but decided to try it. I found that all the people working in the office were very attentive and caring. The hygienist was especially thorough in explaining what my x-rays and exam was showing. What I did not like about Aspen Dental was the "business" vibe I got from their employees. They lure you in with "free exam and x-rays then recoup their costs by holding your dental cleanings hostage to yearly bite wing x-rays, twice as frequent as reputable dental practices suggest. Full mouth x-rays are also required with more frequency than is standard. I suppose this is how they recoup their loss on the free initial exam and x-rays but at what price to the patient who is unnecessarily exposed to radiation that could compromise one's health down the road? I needed dental work and went for a first visit. I checked out Aspen because they were in-network for my insurance, but I had already been seen by my own dentist who would take my insurance but was not in-network, so I should've been able to save some money with an in-network dentist by going to Aspen. After being seen I was led to a desk where they began to tell me I needed thousands of dollars of work, and they laid out a payment plan. I felt like I was talking to snake-oil salesmen. I knew the amount they were quoting me was massively inflated, because I had just been seen by my own current dentist and quoted a far lower cost. I knew something was very wrong. I told them what they were doing isn't honest and I got up and left. They followed me out, saying it was a huge savings and continued to lie to me, saying I wouldn't find a better savings. But I told them I already had a far better quote that didn't begin to come close to the highway robbery they were trying to rob me with, and I just kept on walking. This is a dishonest business of swindlers and predators! They attempt to Iprey on unsuspecting people so if you don't want to get massively ripped off - stay away! read more

I had an appointment for a cleaning and x rays. The hygienist spent the first half hour to 40 minutes trying to sell me first invisalign which at 62 years old I neither need not want, then an electric toothbrush. When it came time to clean my teeth she said she would be right back and left me to start an appointment with someone else. I could hear the entire conversation. Meanwhile, she left me sitting there waiting. I got my belongings and went to the receptionist where I complained about being left in the middle of my appointment. The receptionist said it was policy to take care of new patients and that they only have one hygienist. After being there over an hour I never got a cleaning. If you value your time, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Everyone was very nice and everything seemed to be going well until the oral surgeon pulled the wrong tooth. When asked about the error the office staff showed us the consent form that was signed by my husband after several minutes of administering nitrous oxide. The office staff said it was definitely a misunderstanding on my husbands part because they would NEVER remove the tooth he was asking to have removed as they believed that tooth could be repaired but then 5 minutes after making that statement they called him (obviously with no additional examination of this tooth) and tried to rush him in to scheduling a time later this week for an extraction the tooth they said they would NEVER remove. read more

UPDATE: Two years later, I am having major issues with the crown and root canal installed at Aspen dental. It constantly has food stuck in it, regularly bleeds while flossing, and is extremely sensitive to temperature. No dentist before Aspen indicated I would need a root canal there, and I strongly suspect it was completely unnecessary. Now I will have to go through the labor of finding a competent dentist who can replace it without the original tooth. I cannot emphasize enough how poor my experience with this practice was -- I was lied to and given low-quality care that I didn't need. I have also had to report one fake positive review on this Yelp page, which was removed. Aspen Dental seems to be telling people to leave positive reviews to drown out all of those pointing out their abusive and unprofessional practices. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Stay away. Aspen Dental's business practices are expensive and deceptive. Aspen will give you a free initial exam. If you are like me, they may tell you at that exam that you need three root canals effective immediately. And while a manager was insisting on scheduling my first root canal a month out (despite throbbing pain), the dentist walked over to the desk with a prescription for antibiotics to make the next few weeks more bearable. After protesting that I'd rather not wait through a month of oral infection and/or nausea just so they could book me at another Aspen dental location, I was scheduled at a different endodontist several days out. That endodontist, at Central New England Endodontics and Implantology, will gave me a much more honest and constructive assessment of my oral health over the course of a much busier, end-of-the-day appointment. What bothers me is the way Aspen is run as a business, and has treated me as a spendy client rather than a patient. Whenever I attempted to schedule a cleaning or exam, they were booked solid for weeks; when it was a filling, they weren't. Between appointments I got emails, text messages, and prerecorded phone calls literally on a daily basis. You can't reply to any of these communications, they're effectively advertisements. Much of the dental advice I received in the office was self-contradicting. Once a hygienist told I could treat an early cavity with a mouthwash containing a stronger fluoride ion, only for the dentist to tell me that mouthwash wasn't enough, and that I'd need root canal. Another time, I asked if they sold prescription-strength fluoride mouthwash, and Dr. Saleem (who seems to be one of the primary dentists there) recommended a mouthwash that was antibiotic and contained no fluoride. What is his obsession with antibiotics in dentistry, exactly? It's well-known that the over-prescription of antibiotics is a medical/societal concern. Let me end by saying, I am not writing this review to smear this business and the people that work there, but rather because I have felt swindled and deprioritized by Aspen repeatedly during my year of treatment with them. The office staff is very friendly and the dentist is a kind man. You may see some bad reviews but I think when their teeth are in bad shape they have to blame someone instead of themselves so they give them a bad review. If you have no dental insurance, the free first visit (which is a real thing!) is only for x-rays and a consultation- but they will then sit you down and tell you that if you want to come in for a cleaning, it will cost you over $500. I have an actual phobia of needles. I can't see one without having physical symptoms of anxiety. I went in and the nurses were very patient with me and I ended up not being able to handle it that day. They prescribed my a bit of anti-anxiety medication and I was able to go through the numbing process easily. The procedure I went through was a record time, barely 5 minutes long. Is it just this office or are all the Aspen Dental Offices in the habit of telling people AFTER treatment that they can't use the Care Card (thatwe applied for at your offices) for procedures that are less than $300 because that is not enough money to make it worth their while to bill them? I have a real fear of dentists and from the first visit they made me feel comfortable and were very professional. With no dental insurance I received the free x-rays and check-up, the young lady that did my x-rays was the best, Joelee, the lead dental assistant was amazing!!! She was so understanding and took her time with me and explained everything. She was the first person in my 50 something years that has made me comfortable at the dentist. Scam artists, be on high alert! My boyfriend needed to get a tooth pulled, he was in excruciating pain that OTC pain killers wouldn't touch. We settled for Aspen Dental because of the emergency status of getting this taken care of, I would've avoided it like the plague otherwise, seeing as how they're all about making money, not helping the patient. We scheduled the first available appointment which was the next morning at 830 am. We both work nights and I have a sleep disorder, so getting in that early was a struggle for us, but we needed to get it done. He made it very clear over the phone that he needed a tooth pulled asap, that was the entire point of the visit. They brought him in and wasted an hour of both of our time (while I was basically trying not to fall asleep in the waiting room) attempting to sell him $9,000 worth of unnecessary dental work (something they are well known for doing when other dentists will follow up and disagree). Then they quoted him $300 for the tooth pull (more than twice the price quoted on the website) and refused to set him up for a payment plan because he has a tip based income rather than pay stubs. So they rescheduled him for 11am, meaning we couldn't get this done and go home and get sleep before work. We had to go home, get $300 cash, and come back, effectively eating our entire morning when we normally sleep and prolonging the pain of the tooth for hours. The procedure itself was quick but notably rough across the board. Just hoping it heals alright and we can avoid this place in the future. They bank off poor people with no insurance who don't have the time or access to better dentists to shop around, and try to rope you into agreeing to thousands of dollars worth of debt but then refuse to let you finance $300 for what you actually came in to do. I was in agonizing pain due to an infected wisdom tooth, pain that literally made me sick to my stomach. Aspen Dental in Brattleboro VT seemed like the best place to go because they offered free xray and initial exam to new patients and I didn't have dental insurance. When I first got there I filled out the paper work and everyone was extremely polite and friendly. They immediately got me into xray and then into a chair to finish the paperwork. When the dentist came in the first words out of his mouth were "Unfortunately I think they all need to go". Excuse the Fk out of me?! I have some cavities yes but I sure don't need all my teeth pulled! Then he proceeded to tell me that all my wisdom teeth need to be extracted along with the tooth next to each one, so 8 extractions. Still no way. Because I was in so much pain because of the one tooth I just said yup whatever we'll deal with those later. The next red flag went up when I asked about fillings. I said "After this extraction can we do some fillings?" He replied that a more detailed xray was needed and they wouldn't do that until after I got all 8 extractions. For someone paying out of pocket getting 8 extractions (priced at over 3 grand) could take a while. So basically Aspen said, "We won't touch those little cavities until we get this money from you. We'd rather those teeth get worse and possibly to the point of requiring extraction." And why is a more detailed xray needed? From my understanding, the whole point of the first xray and consultation is to come up with a game plan. How can that be done if you don't have all the information? Besides, my last dentist was able to tell from the first xray so Aspen should too. I went to discuss payment options and hopefully schedule the extraction. They wouldn't discuss a personal payment plan as they only deal with CareCredit and one other. I didn't qualify and already told her I'd rather pay out of pocket and I just had to deposit some cash into my account. She sent me on my way saying I needed to come back and reapply with a cosigner and we'd go from there. I called back the next day to say I had the cash in hand and wanted to schedule an appointment for the following Monday. Because their oral surgeon is only in the office on the first Monday of the month I knew it was either now or wait another month. He told me that in order to book the appointment I had to pay in full. To make it worse, he tacked on an additional $233. So in order to just make an appointment he expected me to pay over $1,600! I DON'T THINK SO! I said no, I don't have that money in my account, I have the money in cash, in my hand and will pay it at the appointment. He told me they couldn't do that. I called back later and talked to someone else who told me 50% was required. I told her the payment policy on the site (and the policy I signed) said "payment in full is due at time of services rendered". NOWHERE did it state any money was due to make an appointment. She kept arguing that because it's an appointment with a specialist they require money down. They pulled that crap with my friend's father and he managed to get an appointment without the down payment and my friend was able to make an appointment without even being asked for money down. They don't have a policy, they have a preference and that preference is to prey on people like me who are in pain, have no primary dentist and have no insurance. I'm now going to a different surgeon to get this extraction then onto a different dentist who actually sees a person as a patient, not someone they can scare and manipulate into spending thousands of dollars on unnecessary dental work. On a plus note I did get a prescription for an antibiotic so I'm not in pain right now while waiting for the extraction of the one tooth. I should've listened to my friend when he said this place was very extraction and denture happy because they sure don't care about getting fillings done in the meantime. read more

Humiliating, zero professionalism, terrible service and awful communication among the staff and with patients. They cancelled my first appointment and no one in the office bothered to notify me. I was annoyed when I showed up for that appointment, but didn't make a big deal about it - they're all young, probably inexperienced, and they scheduled me soon thereafter anyway. When I came back the second time, the hygienist proceeded to yell at me in front of a waiting room full of patients for being a few min late. I was baffled as she led me down the hallway and continued to tell me how she made this special appointment for me and here I am, LATE, and she may need to re-schedule my super late lateness (7 min, if that). After getting a verbal beat down, I reminded her of how badly they handled my last visit, which, to no one's surprise, she didn't know about! I was actually beside myself with frustration and shock, so I begin to cry (in hindsight, I am fully aware that I should have walked out of the building at this point, but bizarrely enough, I stayed).... As she begins to clean my teeth and wipe my tears, she starts apologizing for, and I quote "being such a bitch so early in the morning since she hasn't had her coffee yet, and calling me out the way she did without knowing the full story" - AS IF IT'S OK TO TREAT PATIENTS LIKE THIS EVEN IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE FULL STORY. Then she breaches HIPAA by telling me that the guy in the other room is getting an infected tooth out (I work in a hospital, I'm very familiar with patient confidentiality rules, and I definitely did not need to know this about the poor guy). She then throws her entire team under the bus by disclosing with me that they had failed to let her know ahead of time of this early appointment ("they don't know what they're doing"). I couldn't wait to get the F out of there. The lack of professionalism was truly astounding. I have literally seen monkey shit fights at the zoo with better communication and cohesiveness than this team of "professionals" They also proceeded to charge me 25% more than they quoted me the first visit and name immediate procedures I need to schedule (I didn't). Bottom line: I know being late is annoying - everyone hates it. But no one deserves being spoken to in that manner, doesn't matter if you haven't had your coffee yet or if your teenage son is being a douche or if being a single parent turned you into a raging octopus or if no one in the office informs you of your appointments. I don't write bad reviews, but this happened four days ago and I cannot stop thinking about what terrible service I received. Being slapped and yelled at by a dentist!!!! Never in my life has that ever happened!!! Dr. Akbar Saleem did just that today! I went in to have a tooth extracted. Now first, they confused me with another patient, and did a cleaning on my teeth even after I brought in a cap off my tooth, and explained that I wasn't sure if it could be re-inserted or an extraction of the tooth. It was put aside for the dentist to see after the cleaning. Well, turns out, they had me confused with another patient that was scheduled for the cleaning that I got! Then, they told me no time to get my tooth fixed! What??? Okay, so to make a long story short, they did agree to extract my tooth directly afterwards. He numbed me up, and told me I would feel pressure but shouldn't feel pain. Well, I "did" feel pain, and with the instuments in my mouth I mumbled "PAIN!" He kept going, and just said in response, "yes....lot's of pressure, huh." How do you hear the word pressure out of pain!!! Okay, so he isn't stopping, so what would you do as the pain was unbearable??? Yes, I pulled his hand away, and as he took over continuing to move his hand, I had my hand crunched up at my chest. He stood there a minute, then slapped my curled up hand on my chest, and said, "DON'T YOU EVER TOUCH MY HAND AGAIN!!" I was floored that he did both of these things, and scared and wondering what to do, since I also didn't know how far along my tooth was either!" I didn't say anything!! Just stared at him. The assistant, who witnessed the entire thing didn't say a word. Then he said, "just tell me when you are in pain, and I will stop, no problem!" Well, obviously that was not true! What was I to do???!!! Then he said he noticed that all around my tooth appears to be numb, but the center is not numb, which means there must be a small infection in it that is causing the pain, and that can't be numbed. So I didn't get it removed today, and got a script for amoxicillin. But what kind of a dentist would actually slap you no matter how soft. I will admit it was a soft slap, but did come fast!!!! That's nerve wracking, then to have him yell at me too! When bottom line is he, AND the assistant both ignored me when I said PAIN!!! So the receptionist schedules me for Mar. 12th at 10:00. I called the management of Aspen Dental, and she told me there isn't even an appointment made for me then!!! So maybe they made it for the other customer they mixed up with me?? Scarey thing is, I already paid for my extraction with my credit card! Is the other customer getting a free bee on me?? Who knows! I'm all set with Aspen Dental in Brattleboro! I'm going in to get my credit card credited tomorrow, and go elsewhere! Guess I don't have to cancel my March appointment, since apparently, THERE ISN'T ONE!!! read more

Aspen Dental in Brattleboro, VT are the worst medical professionals I have ever encountered in my life. They are deceptive and fraudulent. They recommended a number of unnecessary procedures (later confirmed after I visited a more reputable dentist). They performed two fillings on my that were done terribly. The fillings were not sealed or polished properly and I ended up needing a root canal on one of my teeth, probably due to their negligence. They recommended a number of tooth extractions, claiming that I had cavities in my wisdom teeth (also later confirmed to be not true via a second opinion). They also told me I had bone loss in my jaw and periodontal disease. They were alarmist and deceptive and recommended a number of unnecessary procedures. Avoid them at all costs. read more

Will defiantly be returning. They know how to make you feel like you mean something not just a dollar sign. The managers are great. The doctor is patient and the assistants are so kind. It's worth checking out. I will never go to anyone else read more

They have been very good to me and my dental needs. I do not think they fight the insurance companies hard enough. That being said. I am more than pleased with the care I have received from Aspen in Brattleboro. The people are knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Saleem has been excellent ( wish he conversed more with his patients though). He is a great dentist. read more
