Went to Aspen Dental here in Cookeville today. I have never had such a bad experience. I made an appointment for a chipped tooth to be filled. I told them from the start that's all I was interested in having done. They did about 18 x-rays, then told me I had to have a check-up by a Dental Hygienist before seeing the dentist. I told them I wasn't interested but they said I had to first. So I did. After that the dentist checked my tooth and then informed me I have to have a deep cleaning before he can fix the tooth. They had the opportunity to tell me that from the start and I would have left. Then they give me an estimate of over $18,000 for all the procedures (including implants). I said no just fill the tooth, they said not until you have the deep cleaning. So I left getting nothing done to the tooth. No telling what they charged my insurance. I left feeling like I had been ripped off. I would NEVER EVER recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. read more

Look, it wasn't fun at all. All my teeth pulled and some temporary dentures my permanent teeth will be in in a couple months but the truth is it still wasn't my worst ever dental appointment. The doctor was nice and the staff was nice. I really couldn't imagine it going any better.. read more

I got dentures in November 2024, the care I received was beyond wonderful. The dentist was upfront and extremely honest and very professional. The financial representatives was very helpful and honest she went out of her way to explain evey aspect and what to expect. The girl at the front desk is wonderful. I have been paying on my teeth every since I got them. I was trying to pay them off before the early payoff date. Today I went to make my next to the last payment and I had no remaining balance so of course I checked into it and Aspen reduced my balance and as of today my teeth are completely paid off. Do not use Aspen Dental they made new dentures for my husband which after going back many times the bottom plate never fit right. Also after paying them through Care Credit we received a bill from Aspen Dental for the full amount . I would strongly suggest not to use Aspen Dental read more

It took 5+ months to resolve an issue through this office and the office couldn't even figure out how to resolve it I had to be escalated to Julie at the corporate office who was much more polite and professional than the billing/back office staff. There would have never been an issue if they had checked my family members insurance ahead of time, instead of telling them they owed 100% of the out of pocket costs up front and then they would be refunded after the insurance pays. That is NOT how insurance works Aspen Dental. You have a due diligence to your patients to do your job correctly and accurately. After my family member paid in full the dental claim never made it to the insurance, until I asked for a copy and sent it myself. I imagine that because they were paid at 100% they could care less if my family member was reimbursed. I would never send a family member or loved one back to an Aspen Dental because of the lack of follow through and honesty leading to a lack of quality. read more

I have never been so disappointed with Aspen. I had a hard reline on my bottom denture last Thursday 9/16, I need to have them adjusted before I return back to work on 9/23, I called yesterday and they can't see me until 9/28, I can't believe they are going to let me be in pain for over week. In the past they have always worked me in. I ask if I could just come as a walk in and was told I could but would not guarantee I would be seen. I have had my denture for two years and believe it has been worst two years of my life, I was told before I had my teeth pulled "you will feel so must better" "you will be able to eat anything" neither of these statements were true. An update to my last review. I have to say they have gone above and beyond to help me resolve my problem. Please if you have had problems at this aspen you really should schedule an appointment with the office manager. They have new Drs and it is their goal to turn the negative reviews into positive ones. Please don't be like me and think there's no reason to try again to resolve the problem. I was greated respectfully, professionally yet not as if they are better than anyone. It was a pleasure to be there and see how they were and are determined to be the dental office to serve all that are in need with respect, and professionalism. My husband had years of dental damage, along with damage from a. Car wreck! Aspens staff was caring and never treated him less than a person. They insure that the work was done as painless as possible. Financing helped make this a possibility as he needed a lot of work done with no insurance. Cookeville, Tn location Don't walk....run away. Was told 9 teeth had to be pulled. I had only 7 teeth. Price was 3500.00 with dentures. They get you in and are pleasant but I really felt ambushed. I am from Florida and had my dentures made at Aspen and all my teeth removed there.I have tried to get into Aspen dental in Cookville and Knoxville. I need a reline on my dentures but can't get an appointment. I would not ever recommend Aspen dental. I had my teeth out 4 months ago and I am on my 3rd upper and 4th lower denture and still can't keep them in. I got my current set on 24th of July and left on vacation the next day. Experience was awful and their statement that they treat everyone like it's their own family is just pathetic. If that treatment is true, I wouldn't want to be a part of it. They are extremely poor communicators, not at all knowledgeable about their own practice, and make promises and statements that they don't mean or follow through with. I had to call for my son at closing time the night before his oral surgery appointment to get some info (they never bothered to call me), only to find out his surgery wasn't going to happen. If I hadn't called, we would have shown up to a closed office on Saturday. In addition, no one let us know about pricing until 5 minutes before the procedure. I liken it to being ambushed and you feel trapped because you've sat there an hour or so and have already made arrangements to be there. There were multiple other infarctions that continued to make my experience miserable with them but I will leave it at this....... this practice is run by young unprofessional people with a lack of integrity and complete disregard for the people they are servicing. Have not been to dentist in two decades. moved to Tennessee from Chicago recently. Chihuahua got a hold of lower denture and chewed it. Dog ok. Denture destroyed. So I called Aspen, Appointment was easy to make. Very friendly on phone. Then I read reviews and almost cancelled. Decided to form my own opinion. Must be all new people cause it was a GRAND experience. From reception to finance treated with all due respect. My insurance plan change so I had to go to Aspen dental I had to wait an hour and a half to be seen all I wanted was to have my teeth cleaned they said I needed x-rays so I had to go through and have all the x-rays and then at the end of the service they said I had Paradont told disease which I have never had before and that it was out of pocket was going to be $1500 and I would have to come back every three months OK I have perfect teeth and 69 have only had two cavities my whole life I do not like this office at all they said they were not clean my teeth until I had to Paradont told him they said they would not do a crown until I had a parrot on till done I will never come back to this dentist again read more

BAD BUSINESS ALERT! Do not go to ASPEN DENTAL in Cookeville. What a racket. I only made a late appt there because I started a new job and my regular dentist closes at 4. I have had issues with one tooth for months. My regular dentist had just put a temp crown on it and told me that if I had any more issues, it would just have to come out. So, I called Aspen and told them my long history. The lady was really nice and verified my 5pm appt in about a week. Great! I wouldn't have to miss work! I specifically told her I needed an extraction and that I had insurance and could pay the difference. I wanted an appt sooner if they could get me in. She put me on hold a few times saying she was talking to the office manager about putting me on a wait list to get in sooner because I was in pain. She said I would be called if they could get me in. So, today I go in. They give me literally about 15 x-rays. I questioned that saying I really didn't need all that. COMPANY POLICY! they say. All new xrays for new patients. O.K.... Then I was taken back to the chair and a Dentist looked at the xrays. I told her the temp crown had already popped off and that I could take it off. She said yes and looked at the tooth for about 3 seconds. She then told me to put the crown back on. HUH? I asked why because they were going to pull it. She said no they weren't. I said I made this appt for that reason and she left in a hurry. The office Mgr came in and held out her hand. "Let's go up front and discuss costs and scheduling." I asked why. I am at my appt to get my tooth fixed. Oh no...this was just a new patient appt. We argued. I said if I had to come back for another appt I may as well go to my regular dentist. She said she could pull the phone conversation when I made the appt. I called her bluff and asked her to pull it up right then and let's all listen to it because I was very specific about why I was coming. She said that was a call center and they don't have anything to do with it. I said THEY? It's YOU. Your company. She said they couldn;t just schedule to pull a tooth because the person might have health issues or the root might be up in the sinuses. I asked isn't that why I filled out the health history and they took 14 x-rays? She said they weren't extracting it and that they already had someone in for an extraction. It was too late in the day. I told them they had better not send a bill for those uneeded xrays to my insurance. I left and said I would never go back. Here I am, tooth still in, in pain. ARG! I should have heeded the horrible reviews but didn't see them until today. Unless you want to be out lots of money for multiple appts to take care of ONE issue and mutiple xrays for which they can charge your insurance, and you want to be lied to and strong-armed, then AVOID ASPEN DENTAL at all costs. read more

At my appointment they stated I only had one cavity- I knew I had at least 2. Dentist was not receptive to my concerns. Only thing they were interested in was getting me signed up for very expensive gum treatment(over $2500) and not covered by my insurance. Also they advertise for 1st exam $19.99 but in small print it states only for un-insured. They charged my insurance and also I had to pay over $75 for my 1st exam. This is not fair to the insured! I chose not to return and seek a second opinion. At my exam yesterday at another dentist I found out I had 3 large cavities with one requiring a cap. The cost for this work will cost less than what Aspen Dental quoted for what they wanted to do. I would not recommend Cookville Aspen Dental to anyone! read more

The office staff were friendly. The X-ray room is lacking privacy you can see out into the front office when getting X-rays. I was told by dentist I needed gum treatment done before anything else could be done. I needed a couple crowns and a filling which I was hoping to get done. But $3500 quote after discount and insurance estimate was way more than I could afford. I might have gone back if could have gotten filling and crowns addressed first and the remaining gum treatment later on but unfortunately that was not an option. Maybe she had her reasons.. but think I should have a choice as a customer what I wanted done first even if I had to sign a disclaimer. read more

In order to have a simple extraction, they require a repeat panoramic xray even though my last one was less than two years prior. My insurance will pay for one bitewing x ray per year, which is all I really required. Nowhere in any literature I could find, did the experts indicate that panoramic x rays were reasonable or necessary more often than 36 months and certainly did not indicate that it would be needed for the simple extraction of one tooth, only for a baseline study and if full dentures or orthodontic treatment were being planned. In the past, I went in to be evaluated for a partial plate and after they told me what the insurance would not pay including items that appeared to be unneeded, I decided against the partial plate. Some folks might like them if they have comprehensive insurance that pays for items not reasonable or necessary, but for this old retired woman on a fixed income, paying for unneeded items is not something my budget will allow. read more

I went into this location for a simple X-ray and consultation. Staff was very nice but the dentist was extremely rude and insulting. As a new patient and someone who has not been to the dentist in a while, I had questions. The dentist seemed very annoyed about my questions and started to give me an attitude. I never got the chance to get her name again because I got up and walked out. I have never been so disrespected in my life. Please save your time and money and go to somewhere else. read more

False advertising about 24 hour emergency care. Could not get anywhere at the Cookeville office. Don't waste your time.

Dr. Burgess did not have a pleasant attitude and seemed aloof and uncaring. She spent approximately 5 min with me to explain my care plan and said the office manager would be in to go over the cost. After waiting 45 minutes I saw an employee and ask if anyone was going to help me. Come to find out they forgot me, After the care plan was explained it contained many things that were not explained to me and I stated that it was to expensive even though I was given a discount for the mistake. Some things were taken off but I felt it was still to expensive and I left. Immediately went to another office in town and had the same care plan explained to me plus some new fillings that were needed (not told this by Aspen) at a more affordable price. When I explained my dilemma the receptionist ask me if I had gone to Aspen. She said the office has heard many complaints about Aspen. Have already had one treatment and am very satisfied. read more

I was referred to Aspen Dental by my mom, who went to a different location. I just recently moved to town, and about a week ago broke a tooth/filling in the front. I have a dentist in town, but I felt like he was the one who weakened the tooth/filling for it to break off. As I am just tired of putting tons of money in to all of the teeth problems, I thought the best solution would be to have a consultation to see what my options were (dentures, bridge, partial, etc). I scheduled the appointment. The person I scheduled with was someone outside of the Cookeville, TN location, but she was very nice. I got there a bit early for my appointment. Another lady had arrived before me. I sat for probably about 5 minutes before someone even came to the front desk. She didn't greet anyone. She called me up and only seemed to be excited that I had already completed the paperwork and brought it with me. She took it and a copy of my insurance card. She told me someone would be with me shortly. She was sitting at the front desk, but talking (yelling) to someone who was in another office. They were chitchatting back and forth. A gentleman came in the office, whom I believe it to have been her husband or significant other. Then, another lady came in. So, four patients waiting. After patient 4 (walking in last) went first, then patient 1 was called back, I was still sitting there with patient 4, the husband. The girl at the front desk called to speak with my insurance company about coverage. During this time patient 3 had also been called back. I had already been there for 25 to 30 minutes at this point. She asked me to come up to the counter and explained to me how much my insurance would cover. While telling me this she seemed very annoyed and annoyed that I was there. She clearly wanted me to leave. The reason I say this is because she kept saying (at least 3 times), well I can cancel your appointment. And it wasn't like I was actually saying something for her to say that. I was still processing all of the information she was giving me...because she kept talking... Anyhow, I was telling her that it was an individual policy and that I had been thinking about seeing if I could get a different policy to cover more, and she proceeds to say (with a bit of an attitude) that with individuals policies they don't really pay anything at all. She was just being overly negative about everything and clearly didn't want my business. What if I had already expected to pay out of pocket? I asked her how much the consultation to be and she starts talking in circles again about my insurance and never gives me an amount, but tells me that she can cancel my appointment. At that point, I was just tired of dealing with her and decided that I would certainly take my business elsewhere. So, I would say stay clear of this place unless you have some phenomenal insurance that this girl isn't going to have a problem with... Or they should probably find another desk clerk.
