I called and scheduled a new patient cleaning after confirming they do take my insurance. I was not told that they don't do the cleaning the first appointment. My previous experience (Indiana dentist) led me to believe I was getting my teeth cleaned, as when they asked what the appointment was for I said to get my teeth cleaned and checked. I filled out paperwork before arriving, and also provided my insurance card upon check in. I got my X-rays, and then waited for the doc for about 20 minutes, after he looked me over I sat, 2 hours I wait for them to do a check for gingivitis that took 4 minutes and then send me up to the office manager, who THEN tells me they can't verify my insurance or tell me what the cost of the visit is. Two and a half hours after I checked in. Then wanted me to schedule with them not knowing if they take my insurance or cost of services. That is illegal since the no surprises act was passed. If my insurance couldn't be verified, I should have been presented with cost PRIOR to services being administered. I'm canceling my families appointments for next week. Now I will have to pay out of pocket at the next dentist bc they used my one a year that was covered. As someone who works in Medical Insurance billing I'm embarrassed at how the billing staff handled everything start to finish. read more

I have no clue how this location has such a high rating. I've had several issues at this place ranging from the computers being down, losing my appointment, having to reschedule, and making my filling worse to where I had to go in for a replacement. It'd be one thing if I've been a long time patient and this is just a few instances over years but I've only had a few cleanings with them and this is a reoccurring issue. My husband just left them due to them not having his appointment on record even though they sent a reminder text. They're time wasters. The staff is nice but it's still not enough to outweigh the negative. I'm leaving them now as well since they cancelled an appointment I made many months in advance for March. They called to let me know that they were going to have to reschedule me and they'd get back to me. They never did and now the soonest they can get me on the books is for the end of June. Avoid this place like the plague! These people are literally the Jiffy Lube of dentistry. I went in for a simple broken tooth extraction because they were the only dentist office I could get an appointment with on an emergency basis (my regular dentist is booked solid until mid-March). Right off the bat, they start trying to upsell me procedures I didn't ask for, and telling me I needed to pre-pay for everything. "Oh you need new fillings and caps on several teeth. You have stage 2 gum disease, we need to order you a water pick and schedule you for a root planing.' When I told them all I wanted was to have the broken tooth pulled, then they tell me 'Oh, we're not going to have time to do that today.' So, they write me a script for antibiotics and I wait a whole damn week longer with a busted tooth. When I go back to get it pulled I get 'Oh, we can't pull it unless we get a medical waiver from your doctor. Your blood pressure's too high...' Then I get the bum's rush from them on trying to get something faxed over from my doctor's office that same day so I can get the tooth pulled and be done with it. My doctor faxes over a letter basically telling them 'If his blood pressure's high, it's because he's hurting that bad. Pull the tooth!' They eventually reschedule me for the following Friday. I told them to put me on the cancellation list because I wasn't going to wait another damn week with a busted tooth. Another day goes by before I get a call telling me that they can get me in the next day to pull the damn tooth. Long story short, I went over a week and a half with a busted, infected tooth because these jerkwads give me the run around and try to upsell me for stuff I didn't ask to have done. read more

Stay away! If I could give a zero I would. Inexperienced staff with all things HIPAA and dental insurance related. Said they do not accept X-rays from other providers MUST take all new X-rays themselves (which is not a standard of care practice to practice). Also said they would not charge me because they had a coupon, but would charge my insurance which is dental fraud because they are in network with my insurance company and cannot provide me with a discount without providing the dental insurance one too which when I mentioned this they looked at me like I had two heads. I am in the dental field and am aware of the laws and practices but did not tell them this at the appointment time because I wanted to see how truthful they were. First thing I noticed, before beginning this review, is that your overall rating is only 2 stars. That speaks volumes. My situation was a badly broken tooth with a filling on the verge of falling out ( I was very nervous that it would and I was likely to be in a good deal of pain as a result). I called the Jackson Mi office on Monday, July 14th, and explained the details to the receptionist. I informed Kaitlyn (not sure on spelling) that this would be an extraction as the tooth was badly "damaged". She acknowledged that she understood. There was an old balance my insurance didn't cover from a previous visit at another location. There was indeed a wisp of condescending demeanor in the receptionist's tone regarding the matter. We discussed a possible insurance error but I decided to pay the amount with my credit card so I could be seen. I could deal with the insurance company at a later time and recover any monies due. I completed the "past due" balance within minutes. I called back to setup the appointment. I spoke with Heather and explained the circumstances in detail again to her. She also acknowledged the details as I explained them, that while not an emergency, I felt it was urgent. The appointment was made for Wednesday, July 16th. Yes, its 48 hours later, and I experienced pain throughout, but I felt it was better than nothing. I arrived early, identified myself and that the purpose of my visit was an extraction. She looked me up and said I was only scheduled for an x-ray and an assessment. I kept my composure and asked why I wasn't setup for the extraction. She asked for assistance from another lady who informed me "our policy is to review and assess and send you out for the extraction ( I assumed elsewhere), probably not today". I was upset, and articulated my dismay, with courtesy, and she kept replying, "that's our policy". I remained cordial and replied that I would need to make a few phone calls from my truck. I located another dentist who got me in as an emergency. I went back in and cancelled my appointment. Her reply - "ok" and continued her work. No explanation or attempt at an apology. Unbelievably disappointing and unprofessional. I would be remiss not to point out that the front door said "walk-ins and emergencies welcome". I would hope there were cameras to review this account and some type of training and continuous improvement is implemented. "Word of mouth" is a powerful advertising tool and you'll not receive positive comment from this individual. read more

A walk in clinic could and did provide better dental care, went in with critical pain and they told me less than what the PA at the clinic could, told me to find a different dentist and told me they couldn't even refer me to one, couldn't even tell me what type of dentist to look for. Basically just shrugged their shoulders and told me to figure it out myself. Not their problem. They just didn't know. Waste of time, unethical levels of incompetence. Avoid at all costs, better to ignore your problems than to come here at all, they won't even diagnose you properly let alone set you on a path for treatment. read more

The first visit went well. After that each appointment got worse. I have been laughed at. They talk condescendingly to all of their patients. I felt uncomfortable ever since i paid them. First i told them i didnt want any metal in my mouth so i wanted a flipper. Also more affordable. They charged me for a full partial with metal and all. When i told them i didnt want that, they said they could cut it into a flipper. I already paid for the whole thing.... The super expensive comylite partial teeth i bought are ugly! Big and badly colored. I specifically told them i didnt want my natural teeth look. I was getting new teeth so id have more confidence. They do not fit. The guy who put em in knew they didn't fit. He just looked at me and said we can send them back. Almost like they could make them worse if i asked. They hurt my real teeth. Constanly rocking. The staff is rude and judgmental. Terrible dentist, I'm on my 3rd "permanent crown in 2 years and this newest one is the worst yet, it didn't fit at all so she started grinding down my top teeth to make it fit. It still does not fit. Instead of admiting the mistake and making a new one they just glued it down any way. Has my wisdom teeth taken out here. Terrible service!! I scheduled mine and my husbands appt on the same day one at 2:00 and one at 3:00. I made it for Sept 8th and we both took the afternoon off of work. The day of appt they informed us my appt was for today and my husbands was the next day grrrrr. Drove to my appt and arrived 15 min early as was told. A woman asked for my name. She came back 15 min later and asked for my name again. After 25 min of waiting I walked up and told receptionist i had been waiting 25 min and was told i wasnt checked in. I told her to cancel my appt. She offered no apology, just an ok. I watched 4 people in the office standing around waiting for something to do. Very sad if i could give a 0 rating i would! read more

I have had nothing but an AMAZING experience here! The bad reviews blow my mind! I've only been a couple of times but they've been very sweet and understanding. I came to them with a toothache (filling fell out) no insurance, and they welcomed me with open arms/no question. I paid, believe it or not, not a lot. I'm only 32 and starting a new office job. Now insurance is effective so I'm having my root canal done at the Jackson office. BTW, I live in Lansing. It's worth the drive for me. Even in my few visits there, I've felt good. I went to Aspen Dental in Escanaba, Michigan. I asked to have my top teeth to be pulled and a denture made. They talked me into fixing some teeth and a partial. I wax billed 3,000 on a credit card. Did not realize they billed while amount. They did a bait and switch and charged me an additional 675 for upgrade on partial. It is now over a year later and still can't get partial to fit. They sat on $400 of my money and then turned me over to collections because I refuse to pay for partial that doesn't fit. Now the teeth that they repaired are breaking off. Going to turn over to Attorney General. Lot's of unhappy people from what I hear read more

My experience at Aspen Dental was a nightmare. I went recently to them for a toothache and was told that I needed a repeat root canal and that it would be free. I have a breathing problem and they ended up pulling my tooth. Saw a dentist to have teeth extracted for dentures and have not seen one sense. They are unable to fit bottom denture, it literally falls out of my mouth. I have been back multi times, they refined and readjusted probably 6 or 7 x. Finally I told them I wanted to see the dentist and have them remade. Showed up for the appointment, and the assistant only was there " wanted to try one more thing" BAH! Left there agin with same problem . This should have been made right. Have insurance for 7 years soooo back I go and this time I better see a dentist who can make a decision if this can be fixed or remade. Would not recommend. Do not be a victim. This place has nothing but untrained, rude, so called tech's. The office staff lie about prices and do not care about service. The dentist that owns this place and one other Aspen dental was like a Nazi when he pulled my teeth out. No compassion, used tools that were laying out, talked to the tech that was helping him like she was a slave. This whole place is corrupt and should be locked up till investigated. I went to Aspen Dental for a checkup, and they told me I had a ton of caveties and would also have to have my wisdom teeth taken out because they were decayed, and it would cost me thousands of dollars. Well, I later went to a different dentist, and they revealed my teeth are in great shape and I have just one tiny cavity. So Aspen Dental either lied or doesn't know what they're doing. But they gave a lot of fear and anxiety to someone who has dental anxiety. They were also cold and judgmental. read more

18 Months ago I decided it was time to get my mouth healthy, for the first time since I was a child. I went to get several estimates for dental work, which included extractions, root canals, fillings, and partial dentures. Aspen Dental in Jackson Michigan was a blessing. They gave me a free exam, built a plan of action, and we began the journey together. At every step, they were gentle and kind. I was terrified of several steps, and they always made sure I was comfortable. They worked around my crazy schedule and were very understanding. Zach and the entire admin team kept me informed about every process and cost. He worked with my insurance companies and made sure I received my full benefit. Over time, we saw a lot of each other, and they always remembered exactly who I was when I came in, and that can be rare in a busy practice. I would recommend them to anyone whose needs are big or small. They will take care of you and treat you right. read more

I went sometime last year looking for a new dentist and everybody says how wonderful they are and the people were SUPER nice. But I came in for maybe an annual cleaning (which I didn't get) and ended up being told I'd need an $800 procedure done because my gums bleed. Aspen dental is a RIP off. So my story is this. A year ago a guy I work with got full set of dentures there. They looked real nice. So I've had my old dentures for 17 yrs never had a problem. Got those from a different place. Anyway I went to Aspen. 4000.00 later I got there dentures. So the guy at work had to teeth fall out of his dentures. To late for me I already had mine and paid in full. So I was eating a donut and my bottom dentures broke right in half. I was so pissed. Went in told them I want my money back. Because they say if your not happy money back guarantee. They lie. If you have them more than 30 days they wont refund your money. They say we will fix them . So I paid 4000.00 for a pair of teeth that are glued together. I have the 7 yr warranty so it looks like I'll have to deal with this corrupt corporation for 7 yrs . I'm sure they will break again. I wish I would have read there reviews and not took the guy at work words of advice. He is now sorry he went there also. I called corporate today and got no wear. She said we will fix them. Again I shouldn't have to worry about teeth falling out or breaking in half when I've only had then for a year. Stay away from Aspen Dental there crooks there top priority is getting your money. I had a very good experience with aspen dental my son's dog got a hold of my upper denture and took out a couple of big bites . I went to aspen dental they repaired my denture the same day in about 3 hours . they were just like new. even though they didn't take my insurance it only cost me 75.00 and best of all I had my teeth again. read more

I was told the earliest I could be seen was December 16....almost 2 weeks from now...for a dental emergency. This is, in my opinion, bad medicine at its worst. Fantastic help! I went in late after work about 5pm and asked to get a tooth fixed on my dentures, the lab assistant was able to fix them and, since I had originally got this set from them over 5 years ago, they were able to repair them for free under my warranty. The staff was very personal and went out of there way to help me. Love this place and they will always have a customer in me! read more

I am going to be very descriptive and I apologize for length.This was my first visit to Aspen Dental. First I was told on the phone I would be getting my teeth cleaned in addition to X-rays & consultation for free as a new patient same day. Not the case. No cleaning. I have spent the last few years putting myself through college and living on my own so obviously money was an issue. Because of this, and no help from any parent, I hadn t been to any dentist in almost 2 years. I waited over 40 minutes to even see the dental assistant for x-rays. Once those were done I waited an additional 15 for the doc, and another 10 for hygienist. Then I waited 25 more to see the financial specialist. This was almost a 2 hour visit, and I didn't even get my teeth cleaned! Also, I was well aware, since I hadn't been to the dentist in a while, I wasn't expecting good news. Nevertheless, I was not satisfied with their professionalism. They were somewhat rude with my teeth issues, very rushed, and not very professional or kind. The finance lady was also a little rude, and had someone training with her or evaluating her; which was a little uncomfortable as we were discussing money, and I wasn't even asked if it was alright. She just assumed I could pay for all of my treatment right then and there, as I would need 3 more appointments. She also was rude when I asked to combine a cleaning, and a filling, and said no way was both of their schedules available to do both on the same day. I made her look, and naturally there was. Also, not ONCE was a door closed, there was no privacy between patients, HIPPA anyone? Although the building is very nice, and people up front are as well, I wasn't too happy with the rest of my visit. I might be looking around for another Dentist office, if they are going to be rude to a young girl paying out of pocket. Just be aware of these things. read more
