After working 4 years as a dental assistant/periodontal assistant/prophy tech in the Air Force I give this place a 2. They did not chart my probing accurately, did not address the reason I came in, then cleaned 1/2 my mouth for 166.00 after insurance. The dentist supposedly saw my X-rays, there was no exam. When I did see him he told me I looked like the Charlie perfume model after looking at my X-rays. He did not examine me. In what world is that appropriate or relevant? If he was referring to my age he was about a decade off. I gave 2 stars because the assistants and hygienist were nice, appropriate, and knowledgeable. They took an entire set of X-rays, which I will ask for to take to another office (which anyone can do, FYI). read more

I scheduled an appointment thinking I was going to get cleaning and checkup. I waited over an hour in the waiting room and the receptionist apologized stating they were short a hygienist leading me to believe that's what was taking too long and making me believe I was waiting on the hygienist to finish with someone else. Then they brought me in, did a full mouth full of X-rays, then the dentist came in to do the exam...I'm thinking this is an odd order as usually the hygienist cleans you teeth first. Then they tell me I have to meet with the office mgr to go over things. That's when I was told they could schedule me for a cleaning in July (3 months later) or I could go down to their location in escanaba and get my teeth cleaned sooner. So then I realized they screwed me in that now that they did an exam and X-rays I couldn't go to another dentist for 6 months as any new dentist would want or need to do exam and my insurance wouldn't pay for a 2nd exam in the 6 month period. Absolutely awful. Would give a 0 if I could. If you have a scheduled appointment, reserve at LEAST 2 hours. Never once had a good experience at this location. Waiting room 1+ hour wait time. Receptionist is just strange. Staff is stranger. read more

Very unprofessional. 8 months and I am still trying to get the billing done correctly, so many phone calls and it still is not corrected. They didn't bill my insurance and then sent a claim to a debt collector after only a month and never reached out for me for the insurance info again. They also said they were "swamped" and that they couldn't file an insurance claim again. False, I had to finally do a 3 way call with the insurance company to get Aspen to bill them. It's been a nightmare and I still don't have my reimbursement from them bc they sent the wrong x-rays twice! The only positive I have for Aspen is they got me in quickly and the tooth extraction went well. Oh and the office manager has taken my calls but the results are disappointing. I would stay away from ANY Aspen Dental as they are managerially incompetent. read more

Facility is dirty, not well maintained and was not hygienic. Staff, although friendly, was not professional as compared to other dental offices I have used. This includes, but not limited to: lack of introduction, did not explain benefits and procedures prior to service, lack of ppe and professional wear, service was incomplete (first time ever coming for a check-up and not getting the cleaning at the same time, now booked for a separate date that is 4 months out), etc... I will not be back and definitely do not recommend your services. read more

Informed them that I have Cigna dental insurance and was given an appointment. Showed up, got xrays and bite-wings, etc. They said I needed more work than I went in for and to top it off? They were not in the Cigna network anymore because the dentist(s) that accepted Cigna left awhile ago. The cost of what they said I needed was $3,500.00 but that "I looked like a nice person" and cut $1,000 off the proposed bill. Nothing like showing a potential customer how over-priced their services are. So, they wasted my time knowing full well they didn't accept my insurance. I called my insurance company and asked that they take Aspen Dental off their list of providers. Aspen Dental basically did a "bait-n-switch" which is illegal. To top it off? I went to the Marquette BBB site and this location of Aspen Dental isn't even registered so I cannot make a complaint. Be careful people, this location has some shady practices... read more

Dr was so kind and very good, I'm 58 and it was the best dentist experience I've ever had

My new patient appointment was filled with X-rays, a 360 scan, and 3D imaging of my mouth. The staff was friendly and gentle except for one gentleman who said while I was waiting, "you look bored." I thought that was very unprofessional. I did have to wait a while for the doctor at the end but he was worth it. I would have given 5 stars if the staff had informed me more about what they were doing and why. I had to ask a lot of questions. I felt satisfied enough to schedule a cleaning. read more

I went here when I was a teenager to get a tooth pulled. My mother had to pay out of pocket since my insurance didn't cover it and since. She didn't have a lot of money so we went for the cheaper option which was to stay awake for the procedure. The nurse was very nice about it, however, the doctor was horrible. It was very painful, which was to be expected, and he insulted me saying that I should have paid more to be knocked out. I was sixteen at the time, I'm twenty now. The nurse held my hand the entire time and was sooo nice. It was so long ago so neither me or my mom remember their names. I spoke to another dentist who thought that the amount of pain I was describing was abnormal, especially when I don't even flinch for fillings, but I do know some people react to being numbed differently so I can't say for certain if it was their fault or not. Wish I could thank the nurse, hope she's doing well. Hope that doctor chose a different career. My mom never wrote a review as she's not really an internet person, but it's something I've always intended to do. I've read other reviews that match up with the dentists rude behavior and greediness. Whatever you do, do not go here. read more

This place is deviously setup to try and get as much money out of you as possible. I had to go here during the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic because I couldn't get into any other place. This was literally my only solution. All I wanted was a tooth pulled and i was crystal clear about that from the beginning. And all they tried to do was sell me stuff. Brought 3-4 people in to mess with my mouth just to try and persuade me to buy crap I didnt ask for. I told them I had no insurance due to the fact I got laid off. They didnt care. They just kept on trying to sell me stuff. Expensive stuff! Toward the end I wanted to rip the dentist face off and stitch it onto my ass- so everytime I took a poop, shit came out of his mouth. I was mad and I think I made it clear. I had to make two trips to this place just so they can pitch me their crap one day and come back in the second day just for them to pitch me more crap for a hour or so before they eventually pulled my tooth. First off I want to say ,all of the people that work at this office are very nice. Unfortunately, the problem comes with the work . I had to have a denture made at this office and after literally months(really!) the top denture I ended up with is horrible! When I left the office the day I got it I felt shorted and the dentist made me feel that she she didn't want to do any more for me. I told about a part of the piece that looked really bad and I was told I had no other choice it how it looked. There was a silver hook sitting down on my front tooth! I have never seen anyone with dentures have anything showing so obviously on their front teeth. I know I'm not going back to that office and I can't wear what they gave me because I now have sores in my mouth from the bad fit. Now Ihave no idea how this office is when it comes to regular dentistry but I really wouldn't recommend going here if you need teeth replaced. read more

My daughter had a bike accident and knocked out 4 teeth. Dr. Golba quoted $10K for implants. After he put in screws for implants, we went to an oral surgeon who said "I don't know why anyone who went to dental school would have done this". Even the manufacturer of the screws said it was wrong. The screws were in the wrong place, the wrong size and they were not straight. My daughter had to have his work removed and new work started. It has been 15 months and she still doesn't have her implants! And we've spent $13K to fix his work, with more to go. If you need anything major, do not go to Aspen Dental. Only reason I gave one star is because you can't post the review without at least one. read more

Should've listened to the warnings! Let me lay out a timeline of my (year - way too long of a time) being a patient at Aspen Dental. Last year I went in and they said I needed 3 crowns and some fillings. I expressed my concern to Dr Golba about the cost and he just laughed and said "I have about 500,000 in student debt, welcome to adulthood." He really instilled some fear in me that my tooth was going to crack so I went ahead and got the work done they suggested. Couple grand later I'm back for my 6 month cleaning. I received (& paid) the SAME BILL of $16.00 THREE SEPARATE TIMES for that cleaning/check up, my fault for not ensuring I had a receipt but I guess that's what I get for thinking they were a legitimate business. Now today is where I draw the line. I called yesterday and scheduled to get my permanent retainer removed which I was told the doctor would look at it and likely remove it for me (I haven't seen an ortho in over 10 years, I'm not from Marquette and I never found a new one and was told dentists are capable of doing this). Well I get to my appt today (which I had to miss 2 hrs of work for) and paid $42 for him to LOOK at and MAYBE take it off. I paid as I assumed he'd surely be taking it off cause why not, this is a business after all?? I waited for over an hour only to be brought back and told - not by the dentist mind you, but by the receptionist - that he doesn't feel comfortable doing that without a referral. This is after the hygienist told me initially he'd do it and I'd be out of there in 5 minutes, left and came back saying maybe they would do it, left again, then finally the receptionist (from yesterday) was sent to tell me she made a mistake and the dentist won't do it. The hygienist was sweet and clearly caught in the middle so nothing against her. I want to add I think I've only left one review in my life and it was for a restaurant that I love. I am not a bitter person or out to get anyone. I just literally cannot fathom how this place maintains any business. Most of the receptionists are nice and the hygienists are fine. But the place as a whole SUCKS, the doctor is an ass, and I personally will not waste another minute/dime on their services. Don't be me- find a different dentist. read more

They don't even deserve the one star. I went to Aspen dental to have a spot on my tooth checked out. After the exam I was told I need a crown on the tooth. Plus I have two other teeth which need filings. Just the crown alone would be costing me $1600. I felt like all they wanted was to drum up a major bill. I went for a second opinion. I never said anything to the new dentist about Aspen or that I had the tooth checked. I was in the chair for 5 minutes and the dental assistant removed the calcium build up. Total cost $25!!! Recently I tried to get in to see a dentist at Aspen Dentists when a crown popped off. I'm only here in the summer so I don't have a dentist here. They were able to get me in the next day, but when she called me to get more information she told me, "I have to tell you that 90% of the time we don't reuse the same crown!" The crown wasn't that old, and I had no desire to have a consultation and ex-rays (mandatory) and told her I just wanted to have it put back on because I will be going home in 2 weeks and can see my dentist then and couldn't wait for fittings and such. She apologized again and repeated I'd have to have all the above and most likely a new crown, so I cancelled and made an appointment in Negaunee where they were able to get me in the same day and cleaned the tooth and put it on being very conscientious about getting it to fit right. It seems to me that Aspen Dental tries to upsell. The one star is because the secretary was courteous at least until I said I wanted to cancel my appointment. Carolyn T. read more
