I already had X-rays done. I told them my insurance only pays for X-rays every couple years. They were provided with the information but insisted on doing their own. And now they're trying to steal my money because they insisted on doing something crooked. They even provided me with the information on where to have my other X-rays sent, before my appointment. Thieves. Plain and simple. They know they can mess up your credit if you refuse to pay their extortion. Zero stars isn't one of the options on here, unfortunately. Worst dental patient care experience i have had. The office manager was great but the central office which handles billing pads bills and in the process ate up expected refund. The clinical work was substandard. Crown fell off a day after it was put on and led to me ultimately having to have extraction done by Chen Dental. I would not recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. Strongly recommend not using Aspen Dentistry. Very disappointing experience. As a new patient, with a history of regular dental care, instead of receiving routine cleaning, X-rays, as requested I was provided a thorough assessment including imaging that was not covered by insurance that was used to demonstrate significant issues requiring an extensive treatment plan. I was convinced I had to pay the estimated out of pocket expenses for the entire treatment plan, ~1600.00 up front but they anticipated additional dental plan coverage. I should have paused and gone elsewhere to validate. They billed insurance as the services were provided. I learned from my EOB that some treatments were considered experimental and lacked sufficient evidence to be provided as the standard of care. They charged some services that were considered a part of another service that should not have been billed/payed separately. When insurance did not pay, I was charged above the very large original bill that I had paid in full. You are randomly assigned a dentist, whoever is on for the day, for billing purposes, despite not seeing the dentist on those visits, and for one visit the dentist assigned was out of network. The services were denied by insurance but when I followed up, Aspen billing shared the services weren't going to be covered anyway. My services were all provided by the hygienist, the experimental, the not covered, services, etc.. I spent less than 10 min with the dentist on my first visit only. I felt like high pressure sales and Aspen Dental focuses on providing services that are not standard of practice. I suspect they work with a pharmaceutical company for additional benefit to the company, Aspen Dental. When in the office, patients stood in line to dispute their bills, a very uncomfortable environment. It's unfortunate this is the only type of dental care offered in the area- corporate owned, no investment in the community or dentistry as a professional practice, doing what's right for patients. I started implants at Aspen in Battle Creek MI. They forgot I was in the exam chair as most of the staff went to lunch. It didn't get better from there. Having moved to Lake Placid FL, I continued the second implant at Aspen in Sebring. I had an unrelated infection and needed to see them. I left a voice message that was never returned. Two days later I got through but was placed on hold for 20 min before I hung up. I have spent Huge money at Aspen and would at least like to get a call returned. I now go to Chen Dentistry in Sebring. The service is far better and the costs are half of what I was spending at Aspen. I am totally done with Aspen Dental. read more

A crown came off and I needed it cemented back on (my estimate $200) they presented me with a "plan" for $5500! I asked the business manager to show me the breakdown, because they said I had "Perio" disease the cleaning alone would cost $3000, the crown needed to be replaced $1200, 4 future cleaning visits $1360! I had my insurance company review the bill and said NO evidence on my xrays for the need for deep scaling. I am contesting what I can on the bill with the office manager, BUYER BEWARE! they are a money hungry scam operation. Over-bill, over-diagnose! I agree with the many other patients who gave this practice a poor review. Because my former dentist (of over 11 years) did not take my insurance, I sadly had to seek out another practice. Aspen Dental was able to get me in right away, which was a nice surprise considering I am a new patient. There were more X-rays done on my initial visit than I've had done my entire life! While Dr. Reyes performed a necessary extraction, my displeasure came when I tried to schedule a follow up "routine cleaning", which I get 3 times a year from my former dentist. Tisha explained, rather quickly why I was being charged (and required to pre-pay) before an appointment could be made. She lost patience with me and asked for the hygienist to explain the charges. I was told I had an "unhealthy mouth" and part of the charges were for 4 antibiotics that were necessary in order to do a cleaning. I don't think I am unreasonable; however, I believe I was being overcharged for services I didn't ask for. The final straw for me was when Tisha spoke loudly and above me, cutting me off several times, mid-sentence. After this unpleasant experience, I called my former dentist and was able to get in for the routine cleaning. I may have to pay a bit more out of pocket and submit my own insurance claim forms, however, it is well worth the cost and minimal inconvenience to know I am being treated fairly and professionally. I have been advised to contact an attorney to be compensated for what I put out for my dentures and if I am not given a name and number of someone at a corporate level or the owner of this franchise if that's what it is... A simple understanding of client needs by managers in charge of billing would make this a top-notch dental establishment. Went for my first appointment, had more X-rays than I've ever had at a dental office. All I wanted was a tooth filled and possible crown. Their TX plan was presented to me and my cost was over $9600 for things I didn't ask for. I then ask if they could just do the filling and was told no, they had to do a deep cleaning first which was quoted to me at over $2000, my cost after insurance was over $1000. I'd give this particular office a -1 star if that was possible. When making my appointment, I asked if they treated children. I was told "yes" so, I made an appt. for me & my 12 yr old. Fast forward to appt. day - I was told the exam for kids wouldn't be free & the dentist would be only spending 10 to 15 mins with her then would write a referral for her to see a pediatric dentist. I told them to cancel her appt. Things got even worse when time for my appt. The staff is unprofessional and ghetto! I started my treatment during Aug 2020 and had gone back for follow-ups through July 2021. I stopped going once I received a phone call saying that someone working there had tested positive for COVID. Long story short, I tried explaining this to the loud ghetto asst. manager who told me my dentures had been sent back to the manufacturer and I would need to pay to start the process over. She also proceeded to tell me that it shouldn't have taken me 3 yrs to come back and that me putting my safety first wasn't a reason to not come back. I asked if there was a record of what I had payed for and was told the information was in the archives. She ended up giving me a print out of only my treatment plan from Aug 2020 which didn't include any Info on follow-up appts. I said I would be contacting my Insurance company and was very rudely told they would be saying the same thing. I then asked for a manager and was very boldly told, "I am the asst. manager". On Friday 01/29/2021 I made an appointment online for the next day Saturday 01/30/2021 at 1pm. Since this was online and my first visit I wanted to confirm my appointment so I called them a few minutes later to confirm my 1pm Saturday appointment. It was confirmed. Now it is Saturday morning 10am and I logged into my online account to switch my phone number to use my cell instead of my landline home telephone number. That is when I saw that my appointment is gone. I called their support line and they confirmed that I no longer have an appointment. And said they should have called. But they never called me to tell me that my appointment was cancelled. If I didn't go online Saturday morning I wouldn't have known it was cancelled. Do NOT go to Apen Dental. They are incompetent. It was a bad experience. Dr Reyes was good. However the staff is less than professional, rude and lacks customer relations manners. I could write a long winded review, but let me summarize by saying that they mislead on the cost of services and had HIDDEN fees in forms that are only meant (everywhere) as consent to allow treatments. To my horror, I was told that I had signed for an electric brush, that they charged me $135. When I told them I never purchased the brush from them, they said I had signed for it??? I said NO. They said I had signed for it in the "consent form". That is shady. They do not answer phone calls if you are an existing patient. However, if you push the button as "new patient" they answer instantly. So, pretended to be new patient to be able to speak with someone. I received a bill today for $105. from 6-1-2023. I gave them my insurance card and they stated it was accepted at the time of service on 6-1-2023. Now 10 months later I was told my insurance was never accepted. I find this very disappointing and can't imagine why they waited this long to send me a bill. The work is good, but they are always trying to upsell. Went in for cleaning, which is $15 copay with insurance. Check in and girl says "that's $53." I say "no, it's only $15". She replies "oh, you don't want the fluoride?" Of course I don't at that price. What's irks me is the assumption. Then when cleaning is done they keep me sit tight here for an "evaluation" which is them looking you over and telling you how great Invisalign will be, starting at $5000. I expect that from a time share, not from a dentist. I'm sure management will be thrilled with this review and reward the employees for trying to sell. My tip: Know for a fact what your copay is and what's included. State right up front you want no free evaluations or sales pitches. Then you'll get in and out quick. read more

While the dental care is good. The office staff leaves MUCH to be desired. I got double billed and they would not resolve it. Then was told I'd be charged $171 for a cleaning and to have a crown recemented. and was charged $297. I am done with them. read more

Dentist is very nice and kind. Office staff is rude. Aspen Dental promotes "dentures in days, not weeks" - however, my husband is now waiting on week 4 - We initially explained he broke his top plate when he had a stroke, they said they could not fix it. However, once we started the process to get him new ones, they miraculously repaired the one that broke when he had his stroke. The office team here is uncooperative - the office manager is absolutely rude. The receptionist tries to be helpful, but her hands are tied as to what the lab techs will do.... read more

I had a tooth broken and my insurance restricted me to Aspen. I called got an appointment. They gave me the price upfront but would not put in crown until I had a periodontal cleaning. Did the periodontal cleaning ($787.00) then set up crown and crown preparation (1240.00 after insurance on both prices). There was very little wait either time at appointments and staff was very friendly. They did the crown prep but had a little trouble fitting the back temporary crown and they did ask if I thought it seemed ok. I told her I could not tell since I was numb. That night I realized my bite was off. I could not close my mouth fully to chew because the crown was stopping my teeth meeting. Therefore, eating was difficult. Wednesday the crown fell off while at an appointment for my mother. I called immediately and was told to buy Fixadent and call Thursday because they were closed Wednesday afternoons. Tried two different cements but could not get the crown to stay on. I ate soft food and ate on other side of my mouth mostly without the crown. I called Thursday after 10:30 am and was told they could not see me until Monday 8am?? They informed me they could not fit me in because they were double booked. It seems as if there was no problem working me in initially, but now that I have issues, they don't seem to have the time or the desire, and almost complacent over a customer having to wait 5 days over an issue that restricts me to a great extent. I have had a permanent partial and crown completed by another dentist, so it is not my first experience and I had no problems in that experience. read more

In January 2018 I had my teeth cleaned and two crowns for $7868.00. ln March 2019 they would not ground one of the crown lower to relieve my mouth pain until I paid for a $300.00 (or more) maintenance tooth cleaning. I made an appointment a week an half ago for the Sebring office. I received a phone voice message to call back and to confirm my appointment, I called the same day four times and I was placed on hold, by the time I called back the office was already closed. I arrived at this office signed in and the front counter rep could not find me in her system. I replayed the message where a Johana had called to confirm the appt., the rep went back and spoke to Johana and came saying that they would not be able to do everything I needed done but one. The front desk rep tried to do everything she could but she couldn't accomplish just but one thing which it was not her fault but she tried. Then three other patients that arrived after me were taken back and were taken care of, while at all this nothing was said to me, before I left I asked another worker for a breakdown of my charges which they weren't explained to me and I believe was Victoria, even thought she was slammed with phone calls she took the time to give me the breakdown of charges that I needed. I went and sat for another 20 minutes and finally had enough and asked Johana not sure if she's the manager there to refund my money and this woman tells me if I call to make another appt that I must pay over the phone before she could confirm. I tried to make my self clear to Johana that money was not an issue. I'm not sure what is her title there but with that attitude and her unprofessional way she should not be there. I know for a fact that I will make sure that the thousands of employees that are employed with the state which my wife has contact on daily basis are fully aware of this type service in details. It is obvious that I'm visiting the dental office due to pain and this is what they have to offer. Horrible service and extremely disorganized. I'm not sure where to begin but I'll try to briefly and accurately explain my experience with Aspen Dental. I first started going to Aspen Dental because a change in my insurance plan prevented me from using my family dentist. I'm now going back to him, and just paying out of pocket. First off, the good. My hats off to the staff members who do the actual dental work, the dentists and the techs. Dr. Spiro and Dr. Walters were top-notch professionals. The techs were the same, I felt like I was in good hands with each and every one. I cannot say the same for the reception staff. Typically they are rude, flippant, and seem very lazy in general. If I owned a private company and had such employees as the 'face' of the company between me and the customer I would fire every one of them. My next complaint with Aspen Dental is with their less than honest billing practices. On my first visit I was given the standard 'care bag' which included toothpaste, toothbrush, mouth rinse, etc. Now each and every dentist I've used in my life has given a similar bag or similar items after each cleaning so I accepted the bag without a thought. Two weeks later I found that I was billed $56, $28 for the toothpaste and $28 for the mouth rinse. I did manage to get it refunded, but only after having the billing staff insist that it was my lack of understanding that was at fault. I must not have understood when they told me I'd be billed so much for the items....yeah, no, that's not it at all. I have no problem at all understanding that $28 for a tube of toothpaste and $28 for a bottle of mouth rinse is unethical at the least, and more than likely criminal. Aspen Dental's deceptive billing practices were the only 'misunderstanding' here. The next joy I experienced with Aspen Dental was on a short trip out of town. A temporary crown broke while I was out of town, and of course it was on a Friday afternoon. I didn't relish the thought of spending the weekend with the nerves of the tooth exposed. Knowing that there was an Aspen Dental office in the town in which I was visiting, I called my local office to see what they suggested, thinking that they'd arrange for me to stop at the local office for a temporary fix. The good news was that my permanent crown had arrived just that day. They asked if I could come to my local office and just have the permanent crown installed. Yes! That would certainly be worth the drive there and back. After driving an hour, in a terrible downpour most of the way, I arrived at my local Aspen Dental office. I was greeted by the very same brain-dead reception staff that I mentioned earlier. I identified myself and explained that I was there to get the crown installed. Both gals, who I'm sure are very lovely people off the job, sat there smiling like idiots and explained that their computers just went down and I would have to call next week for an appointment. I explained that the temporary crown was gone, broken in two, and the nerves of the tooth were exposed. Sorry, the computers are down, you'll have to call next week to make an appointment. I asked if I could make the appointment now, for early Monday morning. Nope, the computers are down, you'll have to call back next week to make an appointment. Fortunately for me, Dr. Victor Spiro overheard this and told them to send me back, that he didn't need the computers to install a crown. Dr. Spiro did then install the crown. I left very irritated at the gals working the reception desk, but very impressed with Dr. Spiro. That, and with a new crown covering the nerves of my tooth I was no longer in extreme pain. The straw that broke the camel's back came a few months later. By this time I had been a customer of Aspen Dental for approximately two years. A piece of dental work broke off of a tooth. Apparently nerves were exposed here too because I had a sharp pain when I inhaled. I called my local Aspen Dental office to see if I could get in to see a doctor and get the tooth repaired. The receptionist asked which tooth it was, and apparently pulled up my records. When she came back on the line she informed me that the tooth I was having problems with was not work that was previously performed by their dentists. Okay, so it was done by my former dentist, what difference does that make? Well, it seems that they would only see me if it was work that was previously done by them. I explained that I've been a patient of theirs for two years, I explained that I was experiencing some fairly decent pain, and asked if they were seriously turning me away because the work had been done by my former dentist. Yes, they held fast that, even though I was now their patient and was in pain they would not help me. They have seen the last of me and my family. We're returning to our former dentist and paying the fees out of pocket. I have never seen a more uncaring or unprofessional dental office in my life. Good luck if you choose them! read more
