My previous dentist retired, so I was stuck trying to find a replacement. I got a list of in-network providers from my insurance company. I chose Aspen Dental because they seemed big enough to get me in right away to replace the crown that had fallen off. Best choice ever. I was impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. I was impressed by the clean, modern offices and their latest tools and technology. And I was impressed by the caring attitude expressed by each member I met - receptionist, X-Ray technician, hygienist, dentist, and care planner. I can't say if this team is the cheapest, or the best technically. I didn't shop around asking for specific pricing for specific procedures. I'm not a trained dental examiner, able to assess technique and knowledge. But as a consumer, I am very happy because the prices seem to be in line with what I'm used to, and the skill and confidence of the Aspen team was impressive to me. I called to simply get a teeth cleaning and they refused to do that. They require that I get a periodontic exam before they'll clean my teeth. When I don't need a periodontic exam. The services they provide or a scam because they're requiring you to do unnecessary procedure and examinations, so they can make additional money off of you. This dental service is terrible.. I have been forced to use a temporary partial plate that after 4 different dentist/techs is does not fit well. I can't wear it more than several hours and it always gets food trapped under it. When I tried to get an appointment to fit a permanent one they refused to schedule it when I wanted unless I paid $300.00 more and even the was told they would not even start a replacement. will book you for a consult but once you arrive they ask you to wait 20 minutes because "we are short staffed" or whatever excuse they have that day and when you try to reschedule they now have to book you for a perio exam...why wasnt this advised when booking the appointment? Your guess is as good as the excuse they give, because "the doc gave a message" then it turned into "we looked deeper into your account"...she should of just said "someone had to take a shit" no legit reason, they just want to waste your time and take your money. Hygienists conned us into deep gum dental scaling that my wife and I didn't need. They did a haphazard gum depth check and charged us $1000. The rest covered by insurance. Returned for periodic check to find nothing was covered by insurance and we owed $450 more. This borders on criminal behavior!!! One star because there is no zero star. read more

Great staff; super helpful was Ms. Ashley who helped me be seen when my appointment was not coming up in the computer! The lady who took my x-rays was very kind and compassionate during a somewhat uncomfortable experience and made into a pleasant time! The doctor I believe was Dr Jebediah was extremely professionally, knowledgeable and made my tooth extraction a breeze. I've had 4 teeth pulled before and never was it such a smooth and successful procedure. I don't know of any other dentist offices that help you find lenders to fund your dental work as well as Aspen! This place has ample parking space, booking the appointment was a little much because they don't have the hygienist there on Fridays! They are not open for weekends. They have early hours starting from 7am so you can certainly go there before heading to work or so. First-time/new patient appointments could take about 2 hours just an FYI they don't tell you but it does take longer. The staff was all friendly and informative. They took X-rays, examined My experience was great however it was a little weird they charged my husband for like extra "treatments" and toothpaste that he didn't really want. I had a new patient appointment over two months ago, and things seemed to go well. The hygienist staff and doctor who saw me were all friendly and informative. They took X-rays, examined and diagnosed my level of periodontal decay, and recorded measurements for everything as well as wrote up a treatment plan. When I met with their financial representative though, the price I was quoted both with and without my SCBCBS Dental Plus plan as astronomical. I asked if there could be some mistake and they insisted there wasn't. I was offered financing options, but they said this would be their price with insurance. Once I had recovered from the sticker shock from a cleaning and Arestin treatment, I called my dental insurance and read them the codes for the treatment plan. They assured me that much of what was on the treatment plan was covered, and they couldn't understand why I had been quoted that price. The insurance company told me I needed to call Aspen back to have them send in a pre-determination so that they could give me an accurate total in about 7-10 business days. This is where everything began to go downhill very quickly. I called their office every other day using the existing patient line. I was never able to speak to a person in the office, but was forced to leave voicemail after voicemail. I never received a call back. I must have left at least 10 voicemails over the course of a month, but never received a call back. I decided to call the new patient number instead and got a member of the office staff right away. I asked to speak to the financial office, and finally spoke with the representative I had spoken with over a month prior. They agreed to submit a predetermination request, but told me it could take up to a month to receive it and that I would receive notice by mail from my insurance company. About two weeks later I received my pre-determination, as my insurance company had told me. I then proceeded to leave more and more voicemails with no callbacks. I called the new customer line again, was told the office was unavailable and to leave a voicemail. Finally, this week I was able to get in touch with someone in their office by calling the new customer line again and transferred on 10/5. I was told to fax the predetermination to them, and once they received it they could book an appointment. I called again using the new customer line on Wednesday, October 6 to confirm that my fax was received. The person on the phone informed me the fax they received was illegible, so I should bring the original pre-determination I received by mail to their office by 5 PM the following day. Once they had that, I would just need to put half down on my patient liability total and I could book an appointment for cleaning. Yesterday, 10/7, I arrived at their office at 4:30 PM after hurrying over from work to drop off my predetermination. The door was locked and no one was in the office. The signage on the door clearly said 7 AM- 5PM. This was the final straw. Today I called another dentist office and booked a new patient appointment. Their professional dentistry staff was top notch, but their office staff and patient communication were beyond abysmal. I would avoid this company and their associated branches at all costs, as they are a corporate entity and clearly do not prioritize assisting patients beyond their initial appointment if they don't pay and book their appointment immediately. I am extremely unhappy with the way I was disregarded and how I was never contacted despite leaving multiple voicemails. read more

Okay usually I would not do this but the more I think about it the more annoyed I am. Where I realize I am not a patient of Aspen dental my sister is and after today's treatment of my sister I will make a point of never using nor recommending them to anyone! They refused to fix an appliance that is less than a year old, told my sister it needed to be replaced, tried to over charge her for the appointment then refused to give her a refund for services not fulfilled because oh yeah they can't fix their shoddy work. What kind of care is that ? I don't suggest anyone go to Aspen dental as it is clear to me they are only out for themselves and the money they can milk from their patients. read more

If I could zero st Stars I would my daughter had an appointment today today at 5:15 they called me this morning and said they needed her to come in at 4 instead. She had to take off 2 hours early from work in order to make the appointment we get there they take our insurance information. We wait there for an hour and then they say oops we double booked double booked so we can't see her today. I even showed them the confirmation email saying that we had an appointment.My daughter was in terrible pain and practically in tears .And they refused to see her today. Very unprofessional awful heartless heartless. This was the brand new Summerville office. read more

The staff were all friendly and the dentist was fast and knowledgeable HOWEVER, the entire organization is designed around selling you more and more products and gimicks. Everything they do is followed by an offer for another billable service, and is incredible impersonal. Nothing done seemed like it was in my interest alone, and they are only after your money. After the exam they bring you to a "green room" where they display oral cancer pamphlets next to their convenient credit service information (also found all over their office). If I wanted hard sells and scare tactics I would have gone to a used car dealership, in fact Id rather put myself through that than go back to Aspen again. Based on other reveiws, I am not the first person who feels this way. Summerville has plenty of local clinics. Do your wallet and mental health a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

There is no place for a negative five stars. Had tooth cleaning yesterday. Today dev fever n chills. Called emergency number three times between 5:37pm and 7 something. Left three messages. At this hour 9:25 pm still no calll back. Had to go to urgent care needing antibiotics. First call waited 25 mins for operator to pu. Second call the operator states that the fever is not related to the cleaning. I asked her if she a license to dictate diagnosis? Of course not. I hung up on her bc her English was awful. Third call I was told that my three calls were documented. Got home called emergency number again. Asking to speak to a supervisor. I called three times transferred to another line and the 3 calls were disconnected. So I ask you how can you trust a dentist and Aspen Dental when there isn't any accountability and responsibility in caring fir a patient full circle? Plus the price tag did my hubby's n I was almost 3k. Let's not even discuss the unbelievable costs. I will never return there. The only one good thing at Aspen is the hygienist. End result started antibiotics and Tylenol. Thank you urgent care. read more

I actually posted a review with Aspen Dental of Summerville SC on the website and not surprised cause it was a negative review they never posted it. I went to the Aspen Dental on Rivers Ave in North Charleston and got the most expensive set of dentures with a 7 year warranty with the knowledge that no matter where I lived or traveled I could go to a Aspen Dental and have whatever issues fixed without hassle within that time of 7 years. Couple of my teeth on my top denture came out so since I was near the Aspen Dental of Summerville I decided to call and see when there next availability was so I could get my top denture fixed. I was put on hold while the receptionist pulled up my info and went to talk to the Dentist or Lab Tech and to my surprise I was told I had to go back to the Original place I got my teeth done which was the Aspen Dental on Rivers in North Charleston. I got transferred to the North Charleston location where I talked with them and they said I should be able to go anywhere like I thought without any trouble or hassle. So either the Dentist and/or Lab Tech at Aspen Dental in Summerville didn't want to trouble themselves with fixing a denture they personally didn't make? Or It was too much trouble for them to work on a patient that is already in the system from another Aspen Dental? Why go to a place where your not made to feel welcome. read more
