I just had to write an update to my review. 1. Because I liked the service provided on my second appointment. 2. Because they actually care about their customers. After leaving a horrible review, someone from customer care called up and explained why I was made to wait for so long at my previous visit. I appreciate the effort taken to make sure that I knew why I wasn't taken in on time. I am also glad that the lady did not ask me to change their yelp rating. My second appointment was with the hygienist. She is really sweet. She explained everything that was going on with my teeth , which I liked because I want to know what's going on my own teeth. She did a thorough cleaning and my mouth feels amazing ever since. I have super sensitive teeth and so I flinched every time she tried to clean. But she was patient and understanding and applied a numbing gel multiple times and ensured that I was not in too much pain. read more

I was here in June for a composite placement, I was charged even though it's a bandaid and if given the choice, I would have refused. Now Im back in the chair and the Dentist is pretty much admitting it was pointless and that although it's not guaranteed to stay in place, it's what she calls a "Gesture!" I'm not going to have to come out of pocket again for this Gesture, but now I'm waiting and hour to have something done that may or may not be effective. WTF read more

I hate this place treated me as a non-emergency and just gave me a schedule that seems to muddle me. I walk in the office and told the representative that my toothache made me sleepless all over the night. Does he think toothache a non-sickness but a maintanance service which can be schedule to wait a long time? If I weren't in an emergency, why should I walked in directly and told the representative I need a dentist? I was sure that the dentist could cure my toothache. But Aspen Dental set up a standard operation procedure to schedule the patients who need a pain relief immediately to wait until death. read more

Worst place ever to go. I bought the top of the line dentures 7 years ago and since I had lost a lot of weight they didn't fix. So called Aspen they said come in and we will see what we can do. After finding out my dentures were still covered then they refused to do the work after paying thousands of dollars for them. The staff is very unfriendly to say the least. DO NOT GO HERE!! I went in as a new patient and my appointment was cancelled as I didn't confirm the appointment. No one warned me that this was the case when I booked it the first time. I have never had an appointment cancelled on me like this. So I got a second appointment which I made I confirmed so I didn't waste another afternoon out of work. I waited for 40 plus minutes as they surgeon was in that day which made them "extra" busy. Then received 20 ex-rays!!! They won't do a cleaning on your first visit so you need to go back a second time. I had a conflict with my cleaning appointment which was two days after my 1st appointment as they had a cancellation which I should have kept, not knowing they are booking out 11 months!! Called to reschedule and they said that they couldn't reschedule as they didn't know what they had available until Friday (this was Monday). Called back twice, no one answered, left 2 messages (one might have been to another location but confirmed that the second message was to the right location). Didn't hear back from them at all so I called after 3 business days. I left a message which granted I was upset as I called 5 times trying to get a live person at different times and no one ever answered. Then they said that they never got my message and that they can book my cleaning next August!!! I laughed at said well this is the worse place ever, especially as they have my 20 ex-rays already and doubt that insurance will allow me to get a second set somewhere else. They managed to squeeze me in the middle of December as "my teeth are healthy and all the people with gum disease get priority over me". Seriously, I can't make this stuff up. Do yourself a favor and find any other dentist. read more

Went to Dewitt aspen dental on 11/08/2023. In 4 separate phone calls prior to apt., i made it clear i needed a tooth put back in an existing denture, and i would then discuss the details and cost of getting new dentures. When i was taken in back for apt. the technician immediately wanted to take a complete set of x-rays. i questioned what would be the reason for x-rays when i needed a repair on a removable denture. Technician responded 'that's our procedure'. i tried to explain that an x-ray would have no bearing on a denture repair but tecnician insisted i needed an x-ray first. i explained that i was unwilling to pay for an x-ray that had nothing to do with a denture repair and was told that they refused to help me unless i followed their rules. An obvious SCAM to get money in case you didn't go through with their treatment plan. And don't bother with Aspen Customer service. All they wanted to do was recommend another Aspen office. read more

Aspen Dental McKinley Mall, Blasdell NY. I went for my 6 month cleaning yesterday. Because I would not pay 92.00 for a deep cleaning they would not see me. They did not even scan my teeth before attempting to charge me. The hygienist Kayla would not come out to speak to me. She send the receptionist out and attempted to drop the fee to $47.00. I understand this is a business but when Aspen Dental is trying to make additional money off of clients with good insurance this is terrible! They got me and my daughter in the past financing dental work that probably wasn't needed. After Covid they tried it again and I refused' Now they won't clean my teeth because I'm not willing to pay more money. Was this explained to me at my last visit? NO! read more

Update: I went in for recommended treatments so I could get my cleaning done, and was given an additional treatment that I was assured was covered by insurance. (I asked before the hygienist performed the procedure. I even expressed surprise that my insurance covered it.) A couple of months later, I get slapped with a bill for that procedure. When I called to contest the bill, the billing department claimed that the procedure was never covered by insurance. Several unreturned calls later, I finally got ahold of the office manager and they reversed the charge. Overall, my experience with Aspen Dental has been aggravating and downright unprofessional. I will never go back. Old review below the line. --------------------------------------------------- I came to Aspen after switching from my old dentist. I came for a general cleaning, and when I made the appointment on the phone, the receptionist said I would be required to have X-rays. I explained that I could only have one set of x-rays per year, per my insurance. She said they would do it without charging my insurance, so I consented. When I came in, it was very busy and when I explained that I was there to have a cleaning and exam, the receptionist said that I needed to have an X-ray and exam before I could have a cleaning, which would have to be a separate appointment. The first time I came would be to establish care, which wasn't explained to me on the phone. I was annoyed by that but since I was there and I was going to need to get the cleaning done, I decided to just do it and come back for my cleaning. However, by the time I was brought back for the x-rays, they were so backed up that they sent me home to come back another time to have the actual exam potion of my visit. So I came back today for that. The hygienist was nice and thorough, but said I needed additional treatment before I could have my normal cleaning. Like, flat out refused to do a general cleaning before I did the additional treatment. I've never experienced that: what if my insurance only covered general cleanings and exams? I'd be denied preventive care because I couldn't afford an extra treatment. I will go back to have that service done, and then will have to have one more separate appointment to finally have my cleaning. Overall, they seem nice and professional, but be prepared that if you are establishing care, you'll probably have to make 2-4 appointments just to get basic care done. read more

I had an 8am appointment but did not see a dentist till 9am. Was told that Aspen double books dentists. Saw dentist for about 3 minutes. Was told exam would cost $125 when I was initially told it would be $36. I did not get a sense that the staff really cared about the patients. read more

Aspen Dental is simply awful. I tried for a year to get my son in to see an oral surgeon. First one location canceled our appointment the day before the appointment because it was the oral surgeon's last week. They admitted they had no idea why no one called me weeks earlier as the appointment was made 60 days in advance. Then I spent a couple months calling other Aspens, another location said they'd call me when they could schedule us, never called. Finally I got a consult appointment at Fairmount location. I call to confirm the day before and my appointment was canceled with no explanation! No one called and the person said there was no reason that she knew. The scheduled me again because they found a cancellation, we meet the surgeon and he agrees to do the surgery. We make an appointment a month ahead of time. I call that week to confirm and guess what? Yes-our appointment disappeared again!! No explanation! They found another cancellation and put us in, both times not allowing me to give my job proper notice. The kicker was we showed up for the appointment, filled out all the paperwork, paid the balance, and then 15 minutes after his appointment time someone tells me they can't do the surgery because they don't have nitros! The oral surgeon assumed there would be nitros there. The manager at this location is who turned my frustration to anger. She was so rude, never offered any apology, literally glared at me, I wanted a plan to reschedule, Aspen is the only provider in my network. I had to ask her to go make a call to find out when they would have more nitros! She left made a call and then said it was back ordered so she couldn't say. Offered no other plan to move forward. Has obviously had zero customer service training and has no business running a dental office. I can only imagine what kind of dentist would want to be associated with Aspen Dental, this place is terrible, they don't care about you or your time and they obviously have zero communication with each other, several receptionists have said this. Don't waste your time at Aspen, find a reputable place to take yourself or your loved ones. read more

Staff is not very bad but I wouldn't recommend coming here, they will try to get as much money out of you for no reason. Came to check a lump they told me you have to pay 52 only for consultation which I did, when I went to the surgeon he spent 15 seconds on it and said we shouldn't do anything right now... however he recommended taking my wisdom teeth out and I agreed. I went to the financial desk they told me it will be around 800-600 out of pocket! I called my insurance and gave them all the dental codes they said it's all fully covered it will just be 150 out of pocket! I told aspen that and they said we need to request pre determination from your insurance I said ok... 2 weeks later I called my insurance to check on the request and they said there was no pre determination requests in my account!! They're trying to waste time until the surgery comes and force me to pay the amount they want! I have never been to a place where they try to steal their customers this way! They already took 200 for a gum cleaning I didn't need. read more

Not a pleasant dental office environment (Dr. Ashley Parks-Elliot), especially the hygienist. She wanted me to get additional treatment, of which I could not pay for out of pocket on the spot. So I asked if I could get a general cleaning of which my dental insurance would have covered. They refused me service. Never in my history of getting routine cleaning has this ever happened to me as I get my teeth cleaned every 3 months. All because I would not pay $200 on the spot for additional treatment which certainly could have been held off, they turned me away. I called the office for the rest of the afternoon to get the name of the hygienist, and they would not answer my call. They are not to be trusted. Thank God there are other options. read more

I have gone back to my former dentist.. tried aspen after retiring and losing dental insurance. Went for cleaning and exam 2nd time and was told I had to pay upfront! Then after dental hygienist examined my teeth told I had gum disease and needed special cleaning costing at least 1,000.00 . They refused to do any cleaning other than this! I had a tooth filled and returned to my regular dentist had cleaning today and no evidence of gum disease! I would say the front desk and financial staff polite and obviously work hard as they spend a lot of time with irate customers! Stay with your regular dentist ! read more

Stay away from these butchers. Over three years I got fillings and cleanings here. The hygienist, Kelly, is outstanding - fun and friendly demeanor and thorough and even fierce on your teeth where they need it. The dentists are a revolving door of yahoos. At first I thought the white guy with the gray at the temples was the experienced guy teaching a stable of younger people. After 4 different dentists, I figured out the smart one was Dr. Cruz who has opened a private practice in the area and I totally recommend. Everyone else, even the older guy who looked the part, must have graduated dental school with C's. One of my teeth hurt constantly after he filled it, so Dr. Cruz revised it. I was stunned that re-drilling a tooth can make it better. A different young woman did a buccal surface filling in a bicuspid and it stood proud of the rest of the tooth, so Dr. Cruz revised that at my request. A young guy Dr. put his hands up in a "goal!" motion after he finished a filling on one of my teeth announcing how happy he was he did it without requiring a root canal. My mouth is not a video game. I went every six months or so to get all this work done and the dentists were never the same. At my last cleaning, they tried to set an appointment with the dentist du jour, whom they called Dr. V because they couldn't pronounce her eastern European last name. I had seen her stumbling from chair to chair half asleep and cursing, so I said, "No way," and the office staff whispered, "Don't worry, she'll be gone in a couple months, call after that." They won't let me see just the hygienist, so thanks, but no, thanks. I wanted them to be good because who wants to search all over for a dentist and it shouldn't be that hard to do a few routine fillings for someone who brushes and flosses a lot but their business model is horrible - all shine and no substance. They advertise free initial appointments and x-rays. That gets them inside your mouth where they try to mine dollars out of your teeth - they're motivated to find problems. read more

Called a month ago to see if they participated with my insurance, was informed by staff that they did. Also called my provider they said that location takes emblem health. Saw oral surgeon today he isn't in insurance network. So I was charged $130 to be told that $2800 would not be covered. So 1 month wasted time rotting wisdom tooth still in head. read more

I had an extraction performed at Aspen. I felt no pain even though the tooth had been badly damaged, and they put me at ease. They were very professional yet very friendly through the process, not only for the surgery but for the exam and cleaning before. I will be having an implant done and couldn't think of a better place to have it done. read more

Initially it took a couple of visits to accomplish the work. The workers were extremely pleasant each time. Dr. Parks and Jess is who I need to take the time out and praise. I chose Aspen Dental due to my health insurance (Tricare/ Delta Dental) and the convenience of location to the house. My back bottom teeth on the left side was causing discomfort. Dr. Parks and Jess had to remove the old filling which was placed almost 10 years ago. They filled the one and noticed the back tooth is very close to the nerve. This is what was causing the problem to include my grinding of my teeth from anxiety. A temporary was placed to see if it would help. But the work performed by Dr. Parks and Jess was as quick as dental work can be. My time in the service has had a lot of dentists check my teeth but Dr. Parks is ranked in the Top 2. I understand every agency does more with less. This is why it took a few visits. The service deserves the stars. read more
