Horrific!!! Had to look for a new dentist due to a change in insurance and decided to try this facility. Took a ton of X-rays and the "hygienist " busted in and without even looking at my teeth herself stated I needed two bottom front teeth removed as well as a back molar. Additionally I would need a deep cleaning as I had pockets. Then the dentist came in. I thought I was being sold a crappy used car. A hard sell was being pushed with any question. I was then handed a $5,300.00 estimate for work to be done. On my way out I requested a copy of my X-rays which were never provided. I went back to my former dentist who reviewed everything. There are no loose teeth, no need for a deep cleaning. Paying my original dentist out of pocket saved my teeth as well as thousands. read more

I was a client since they opened. Haven't been there since 2017 as I had no issues with my teeth. I bit into something last week on a friday night and by Sunday night the side of my mouth was hurting bad. Went there Monday morning and they flat out told me they would do nothing as I hadn't been in since 2017 and to go find another dentist. My tooth had cracked in half and I had a infection as another dentist office found. Really nice of them to turn me away. read more

I would avoid this dental office at all cost. They have a scam they are running where they talk very kindly to you at first and they get you excited about how your insurance is going to cover the majority of the dental work and the prices seem very reasonable. When you're having teeth pain this is exactly the news you want to hear. However, they do not give you a good faith estimation quote. The actual amount you will end up paying is twice or triple the amount that is estimated. It is designed this way so you go ahead and get the work done then you are left with surprise billing and then when you go back to them and you explain how you were not aware of the out of pocket expenses they will act very aggressive and rude to you and gaslight you saying that you weren't misled. Do not let them manipulate you with their kindness and get the work done. Make them send it through insurance first so you are not misled because if I knew the actual price I would have never had them do any work. They are trying to make fast profits not keep long term patients. It was actually scary how quickly they can go from very kind and then to super rude aggressive and they will raise their voice at you as well and try to escalate the situation instead of trying to help you or how to remedy the situation. read more

Dr. Frank and his team are INCREDIBLE! Extremely welcoming and personable/approachable staff, on top of an incredible doctor who really knows what he's talking about! Dr. Frank did an outstanding job at talking me through my oral surgery procedure (something I was VERY nervous about being awake for), and kept me calm throughout. Post OP was and continues to be more of a pleasure rather than a pain with this team of professionals. Really, while all dental work is expensive and inevitably pricy for those of us without insurance, this particular location makes it worth every dollar spent. read more

I had a cleaning appt back in March 2022. Aspen Dental cancelled my appt and it was difficult to reschedule as no one answered the phone. Since then I've had to reschedule two more times because of staffing issues(apparently). I totally get that however, this past Saturday August 22, I had a 1:00 appt for that cleaning. Traveling on 95 north especially on a Saturday in the summer is a traffic nightmare. Before I left, I checked my emails and texts, lookingfor a cancellation. I didn't have one, so I left an hour early citing traffic issues. It took me most of that hour to arrive on time (the drive usually takes 20 mins w/o traffic). I walked up to the door and the office was closed due to staffing issues. No email, phone call or text informing me I needed to reschedule. Needless too say I was very very ticked off. I felt disrespected, very ticked off and had many choice words to say. If I had a brickin my car, Inwold have thrown it threw the window. The traffic heading south on 95 was again a nightmare. So, tomorrow I will most likely spend time on the phone trying to reschedule. Hope they pick up the phone or return my voicemails. I am truly unhappy and am considering switching my dental practice. If youre going to close the office formthe day, be a bit more professional and give your patients a heads up. Sarah H read more

I had a root canal at noon on February 18 at the Waterford CT office. I was told that a prescription for an antibiotic would be sent to my pharmacy. When I was in the office, the staff was lovely and I felt that they indeed cared about my well-being. When CVS never received the script, I called and spoke with the office twice that afternoon, each time assured by staff that the prescription would be sent in shortly. When I called a third time during business hours, I was again assured that a prescription would be called in. At 4:30 and again at 4:50, my call went to an answering service where I was given an emergency number to contact. I was assured that my call would be returned within 20 minutes. Six calls later, I have not heard from the covering dentist nor has CVS received a prescription for the antibiotics the oral surgeon told me to be sure to take after my root canal. I called my attorney. Am I now supposed to believe that the staff and dentists care about my well-being? read more

I received dental services from Aspen Dental in 2012. I moved to a different dentist in 2019 . They refused to transfer my medical even after several attempts by phone and email and letters. I also had a partial plate break within one year after getting it from them . Awful customer service! read more

I really REALLY wish I had looked at reviews before going there. WHY OH WHY DIDN'T I!? If you're thinking about going to Aspen Dental, you should definitely look around. There has to be somebody else. Okay, so here's my story: I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed, but before that they need you to do a check up. Okay, so I went in for that. After I got out, they said I needed fillings, teeth cleaned, and wisdom teeth removal. They didn't give me a choice. It was just already on the bill. Then they make you pay all up front even though I have insurance and then the dentist will pay me back. I thought... okay, whatever. As long as I get my money eventually. So she said, okay, with the discount insurance everything will be 500 dollars. That didn't sound so bad. She takes my credit card and then comes back and said she made a mistake on the bill, it actually should be 1500 dollars. I paid anyway and went home feeling very cheated. I had a check up several months prior about my wisdom teeth in a different state and the dentist said it would cost roughly 1k without insurance. Anyway, I had my wisdom teeth removed and went home. A few weeks later I wanted to know why I haven't gotten my refund yet. I called my insurance they said the dentist should pay me back so I called aspen dental, they said as soon as they get the money from the insurance they will refund it back to my credit card which may take up to 6 months. So I waited 3 months and decided to look into it again since I still didn't get the money. I looked at my insurance and it said it paid the dentist a week after I got my wisdom teeth removed, so I called Aspen Dental again and mentioned that. They then started their process of refunding, but oh wait, they forgot they need to get an approval first and will call me back the next day. So the next day came, they didn't call me back, turns out they are closed on the weekend, so I called them on Monday. Eventually, it all got worked out after that whole mess and I did get my money back. I'm really dreading going back there to get my teeth cleaned and filled but I have to now since I already paid for it. Summary: Pros: **They did a good job on removing my wisdom teeth. No problems from that. **The staff were very friendly which is probably the biggest reason why when I was there, I was happy, but as soon as I got home and thought about what they've done. Well, I did write my review. Cons: **They don't push you to buy stuff you don't need, they just don't give you an option to go against it. **They make you pay up front even though you have insurance. **The staff at the Waterford, ct office are clueless and don't seem to communicate with each other very well. Like, misreading a description which drastically changes a bill. Also, it was a little funny to watch the unorganization of the place. I would never recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. The dentist recommended a gingivectomy to improve the appearance of my smile. I was told that I would only have to pay around $50 with my insurance coverage and signed a statement saying the same. In reality, my insurance did not cover any part of the procedure, and months later I received a bill for over $800. If I had known I'd end up paying nearly $900, I never would have agreed to the procedure. They may seem like they actually care about your dental health, but really they're only concerned with their bottom line and pushing as many procedures on you as they think will be covered by your insurance. I recommend speaking to your insurance provider directly and confirming coverage before agreeing to any procedure. This is a good practice for any type of medical or dental procedures, but given how untrustworthy Aspen Dental has proven to be, I think it's absolutely essential for all of their patients. read more

I've had a very good experience thus far. The staff is all very nice and just like every other dentist's office, I had to pay my part, after insurance, up front. The dentists are nice, professional and ensure my comfort. I was provided pain control and antibiotics. I really couldn't ask for much more. The reason there aren't 5 stars us because I gave to wait at least 30 minutes past my appointment time before I'm called back. read more

I'm surprised to see a bad review for Aspen Dantal in Waterford. I think they're great. The staff is very professional and friendly. Before any work is done, they give you a printed work order with prices itemized. I'm retired and no longer have dental insurance, so it didn't surprise me when I was expected to pay as the work was done. They even worked with me on the payment issue. I was expected to pay a percentage on my initial visit. I didn't have that much in my checking account that day so they were very agreeable to taking a slightly less amount and the balance on the day the work was done. If they recommend a procedure and you don't agree, no one is going to hold you down and force you. Honestly, ever since my very first visit, they have greeted me by name, treated me like a friend and given me all the courtesy and respect one would expect from a professional office. read more

Do not go to this place at all cost. They will screw you up! I had an extraction with them last year and was extremely disappoint with their services and everything that follows. First, they are fucking cons. They will give you a low estimate of the cost to con you into doing the dental works with them and they will make you sign a paper that you agree to pay any different between the actual cost and the benefit(s) you get from the insurance(s). Of course the cost will be a lot higher than the benefit because they can say whatever amount it cost they want and you have already signed a paper that you will pay any differences. When I had the extractions last year, I have two dental insurances, one through my work and one through my wife. They are delta dental and GHI, both are arguably very good dental insurances. My delta insurance covered up to 1700 annual and GHI covered up to 1200 or 1600 annual (cannot remember the exact now). Delta has a schedule amount for each procedure code but as far as I know GHI does not have one. With both insurance, I still have to pay out of pocket almost $600!!!! Are you fucking kidding me??? I was initially told I would be receiving a refund once they (Asshole-pen dental) files a claim to my secondary insurance, and now I have to pay $600 even with two dental insurances?? Second, they are still fucking cons and are fucking unprofessional. A week before the appointment, i was told by the desk that i do not need anyone to accompany me as long as someone will be there to pick me up after the extraction even though I will be receiving a full anesthesia. I asked specifically if I can order taxi service and they said "Yes, of course!" So I took a day off from work and came in for the extraction, now the doctor said sorry he cannot continue the procedure with full anesthesia because they don't want to be liable for whatever the taxi driver might do to me since I will be dazed after the extraction. Perhaps those who work there should be re-trained, if that would even help. So under the gun, I accepted the an alternative proposal: local anesthesia. That is not even funny feeling and seeing the doctor trying hard to unplug parts of you bones. Ouch!!! Third, they are STILL fucking cons and they will fucking ruin your life. So I owe they about 300 after my primary insurance paid them the majority of the cost and a payment of 300 before I receive the service (difference between the estimated benefit and cost). Although I gave they all the information they need for the secondary insurance they apparent did not file any claim or got any benefit estimate from my secondary insurance. But they did told me that they will file it and I should be expecting money back from them. (of course that was a big fucking lie). So a few weeks after the operation, I received a mail from Asshole-pen dental. Thinking that would be a check but it turned out to be an invoice. Of course, they did not file any claim to my secondary insurance, of course the estimated benefit is a lot higher than what the insurance company is paying, and of course the actual cost is a lot higher than what they "estimated." Furious and raged, I called them a few times to try to make things right. Of course it did not go anywhere. Feeling conned, I refused to pay it and ask them to file a claim to my secondary insurance if they want. Now a few months passed, they hustled me again to pay for it and of course I did not. A few weeks later, the account goes in to collect. Well, should have seen that coming. I was raged, mad but helpless, I ended up calling they and just paid it and get it fucking over with. But now the damage has been done, I have a collection in my credit report. Oh fucking yeah. So if you read my story, do not go to this place at all cost. If you think it's too long to read, know this, DO NOT GO TO THIS FUCKING PLACE AT ALL COST. read more

I was stunned to see anything less than a 5 star rating for this Aspen Dental location. I am a registered nurse by trade but currently a stay at home mother to a young child with a rare autoimmune disorder. I have genetically dental issue prone teeth and have spent my life bouncing from dentist to dentist spending a fortune and feeling like a number. The moment I met Dr. Catania I felt like I was sitting with a good friend. She took such care and time to talk to me and put me at ease and made me feel instantly trusting that she had only my best interests at heart for my dental care. Dr. Frank I saw on my second visit and he floored me as well with his bedside manner and professionalism. I am so ecstatic to have found this practice and actually look forward to my dental visits now. Every single person from the front desk staff, to the wonderful hygienist and of course the awesome Dentists, are top notch and provide excellent and personal care. Do not use Aspen Dental! I had the most horrendous experience with them over the couple of years I used their services. You will wait forever for your scheduled appointment regardless of how many people are sitting in the waiting area when you arrive. I actually had to leave once because it was taking so long. I never felt like they actually knew who I was and constantly felt like just a number. I even had them switch dentists on me... in the middle of a procedure. Now, it's been about a year since I have been in their office and I'm still dealing with them because of their irresponsible billing practices. I had to file a complaint with my insurance company and am still fighting. Do not go there. There are plenty of other dentists in the area who will treat you like a human being. read more

Incredibly disappointed after having an appointment I had scheduled 3 months in advance be cancelled because the surgeon decided to go on vacation. The receptionist was of no help when it came to scheduling me a new appointment nor in finding a new oral surgeon. I could have made an appointment with someone else if they hadn't cancelled so last minute. Now, after arranging my holiday and work plans all around this appointment, I will have to do it all over again. If I hadn't already paid for my surgery and had my consultation with Aspen Dental (which I would have to do all over again if I decided to go elsewhere) I would not even consider returning. read more

This Aspen dental office is pretty great. I will admit, the receptionists did not even say hello when I walked in and mostly just chat with each other. You sign in and sit down - likely without anyone ever talking to you. For some people, this bothers them. For me, I could care less as long as I leave feeling like my teeth are in good hands. Dr. Frank is incredible. I've always hated the dentist and have a serious fear of even getting my teeth cleaned. I did wait literally an hour before being seen for my appointment, but it was because an elderly woman had been brought in for some serious work a day early by accident (and it was very difficult to get her there from the nursing home). Dr. Frank was very apologetic and did not rush me through my appointment. He even worked through his lunch to get back on schedule (which seems like a regular practice for him so he can fit in emergency patients as needed). He explained everything so that I understood the rationale behind the recommendations and answered any questions I had honestly and thoroughly. When it came time to pay, my payment plan was explained in detail and was reasonable and flexible. I didn't feel pressured to pay everything up front or agree to something I didn't want like some reviews seem to imply. Do not, under any circumstance, go here for dental care. I received three fillings only to have to return a month later after having constant pain. They told me that my fillings had been drilled too far and I now need one root canal for sure and maybe two more on the other fillings and THEY EXPECT ME TO PAY FOR IT. This place is nothing but a living room for soul-less, money hungry excuses for dental professionals that should be ashamed of themselves. It's the wal-mart of dental practices. Basically, I received "treatment" I could've gotten done in a basement for free. i made an appointment for the free xrays and check up to see what needed to be done in my mouth - which by the way i knew was alot like dentures type alot - well i get there and sign in - first person of the day - 4 more people come in and sign in after me - they all get called in and finally someone says oh you need to fill out these forms - so i do - then i finally get called in for xrays and thee dentist is a little abrupt with me when i said i am afraid of dentists he was like what is your drama - everyone has one - ok i had a dentist tore apart me gums with a bad needle one time - it hurt and has made me fearful - then i tell him what i want to have done - snap in dentures or implants for the front anyway - "no you do not - this is what you want we will pull all your teeth and give you an thing you have to glue in every day" that is not what i want can we discuss options - well guess what = there are none - all my teeth have to go and that is all there is to it - so after being made to feel like i do not matter in the equation i say i am going away so let me think about it - - then they make up this treatment acceptance and payment form - i take it and i leave and go home to find i have an email telling me i missed my appointment today - well i go to another dentist and get another opinion - ok not all my teeth have to go - i have gotten partials that attach to the teeth ewe kept and it cost me $1000 less then they quoted and it includes cleanings, and all sorts of work in my mouth and the final denture something aspen does not include..... - the dentist i ended up with made me feel like i mattered in the equation and for the final straw - i looked at the plan they gave me and it includes charges for the x-rays they took for "FREE". i do not trust them nor will i ever recommend them to someone. read more
