About a month of regular break ins, and thefts of this nature, and all we got was 7 days of a decommissioned police cruiser to sit at the bottom of our garage. Oh and did I mention we're all paying $30 dollars a month to park here? But hey we get pancakes and food trucks sometimes.

I'll start with the good stuff: For the most part the…read moreleasing staff is pleasant. I liked the maintenance manager, she is one of the most competent I've dealt with in years of renting in this area. The building construction is awful! Our apartment has leaked three times. Our carpet in the bedroom is soaked from rain water and our living room has huge puddles. Maintenance continually puts in huge blowers and dehumidifiers. Same gross carpet remains, I had to request they shampoo it the first time. Our house is like a swamp when it rains. The thermostat is showing 70% humidity. The noise is unbearable and our baby can not only sleep but had developed a bad cough. We haven't been offered a different apartment or any other accommodations. It's miserable. The handle to the door to the garage always breaks, and there's not an easy way to get to the garage. The carpet was ripped to shreds when we moved in. We hear loud noises whenever ANY neighbor flushes the toilet. That's just a small part of it. The location is decent, but Route 1 traffic is VERY heavy. Get used to sirens, etc. Mostly the other residents are students, or young professionals and keep to themselves. However, some are plain trashy (see pic of note left on my car after accidentally parking in a reserved spot my first week here, they aren't well marked spots). People drive like wild banshees in the garage and then blast music at the gym that can be heard all the way into apartments down the hall. At all hours folks drop heavy weights. Annoying if you're on that floor. There are also VERY wild parties in the common area that residents rent. There is also an issue since there's no concierge and after 6 the leasing office is gone. Packages are hard to get delivered, including meal delivery services (First World Problems, I know). For the price you pay, the construction should be a lot better

As a college senior, this was the worst apartment experience I had. When my roommates and I signed…read morethe lease, we were told we'd be in a large corner unit with a view of campus and that was the only reason we signed. Weeks later, we noticed on the website that the floor plan names had changed, and it turned out we were actually signed for their smallest unit type. No one ever notified us and we only found out by checking online ourselves. When we brought it up, management told us to "look at the lease" and claimed the square footage was the same as the square footage on the smallest plan on the website. But the leasing agent had clearly advertised a completely different layout, which now matched a different floor plan on the site. The only thing they offered us was an early move of 2 days for free, which was none of us even wanted to do anyways. Whether it's illegal or just unethical, it felt like we were bait-and-switched. We were also told electricity bills would be comparable to our previous apartment. In reality, we were charged around $100/month each (4 of us, so $400/month total) for a tiny unit we kept at 70 degrees. Every other complex with bigger apartments around was averaging $30/month or less per person. This electricity bill is not including trash, sewer, and other fees that add up to be around $50-75 a month too (which is also insane because my past apartments it was 1/4 of that). We could've stayed in our old, nicer apartment for the same price with all these overpriced utility charges but we thought we were getting the same thing for cheaper. Huge mistake. Trash rooms were locked on weekends, so garbage piled to the ceiling and the smell was awful especially in a college town where people party every weekend. It was genuinely disgusting and felt like a health hazard. During finals week in fall semester, we had a false fire alarm at 4 AM, with no follow-up or explanation. Bottom line: this place is full of misleading advertising, overcharging, poor maintenance, and zero accountability. Do yourself a favor and live literally anywhere else.

Review: Not Recommended - Unfair Charges and Poor Practices…read moreThis company has been a complete rip-off. We moved in on September 1st, but the lease wasn't even signed until September 20th--yet they're still charging us for the entire month of September. On top of that, they added an unexplained $250 in extra charges to our rent. The lack of transparency and unfair billing practices make this place one I definitely do not recommend.

I love the wooded grounds and the fact that you can see wildlife in the area. There is an outdoor pool which is open in the summer months. It is also a complex that permits pets. Lakeside North is very safe and is near the Greenbelt Police Station. I have experienced few problems with noise or disruption. Residents consist mainly of families, individual professionals, and graduate students. The apartments are spacious, have lots of closet space, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Windows were replaced a few years ago with double-pane windows, which are better for conserving energy. Most units are carpeted but you can also get units with wood laminate flooring. All units have dishwashers and card-operated washer/dryers are in the basements of each building. Maintenance is very responsive to requests for repairs. Probably the best part of living here is the Lakeside North staff. The rental office staff plan events for residents throughout the year, including parties for Mother's Day, Halloween, and a Labor Day barbecue/pool party. They do thoughtful things such as leaving Valentine's/Halloween candies on residents' doors. They also help to publicize community events and volunteer opportunities.

After three years of…read moredissatisfaction, trying to make the best of it, horrible customer service from the main office in Virginia, and endless issues with bad tenants in the complex and people loitering in the parking lot, we found a better place to live. Frankly I would recommend when you consider looking in this place, especially if you're a parent looking for your student at the University of Maryland, that you consider exploring all the options that surround this complex before deciding to move here. At the prices that they now plan to charge for these units, they are high for what you get here. Compared to surrounding complexes, they don't offer any amenities, there's no real 24 maintenance for emergencies (it's a voicemail that's not always responded to quickly), there's no parking enforcement, and there are other issues - lots of them. Oh, did I mention there are roaches here? Some other tenants we are friends with have had bed bugs here, too. Beware. Some tenants move from apartment to apartment, disregarding the moving hours and quiet hours on the complex. There are a group of college kids who have moved in who have quite literally no respect for anyone else. Because of the increase in rent with zero improvements, the bad service, bad experience, and just being fed up in general, we've decided to leave.

Nothing against the Maintenance Team; they try their best, but they are limited by what Management will let them do. I've talked to some of the good ones, and they are actively looking elsewhere too. Oh, and thanks to the location, you get the local "Street Racers" (usually 20-200 of them) showing up almost every night from 9pm until midnight! Domain is a nice place but they have treated us with ZERO respect on this issue after dutifully paying them $2000 a month for almost 3 years. I would NOT recommend Domain to anyone who needs a place in College Park as their unwillingness to respond to a simple issue shows a fundamental lack of respect to a paying customer.
