I used to only do cardio and never enjoyed going to the gym, especially without guidance, but this has been the perfect alternative. With consistent classes, I've noticed a huge improvement in my strength, built muscle, and feel much more toned overall. I've taken classes with several different instructors, and they're all really great, but I have to give a special shoutout to Helene. She gives clear, helpful instruction and thoughtful adjustments, and she really knows how to challenge you and push you to improve. Her classes are never boring. She mixes things up with different moves and keeps it fresh every time. On top of that, she makes class genuinely fun and always gets us laughing, which is a nice distraction from the burn! Then, I have had the pleasure of working with Jaime teacher for more than a year, and I can confidently say that it changed my daily routine(posture) for the better. Jaime teacher's classes are sometimes challenging, but she takes the time to adjust each exercise to my level of ability, making sure that I get the most out of each session. She's also very attentive and makes sure that I am using the correct form. It helped out a lot with the condition I am suffering from. (backache, shoulder pain, the usual that comes with having bad posture). Currently, I am currently taking private and group classes at Crescendo Pilates. Working with Zonnie has built up my core and strength overall. I'm more toned and have lost weight. But what I really need to recommend is working with Zonnie herself. She adapts each lesson to how my mind and my body are feeling that day. She has helped me focus or be Zen when I come in frazzled or will accommodate on days when I'm just plain tired. Zonnie's Pilates knowledge is expert, and she is warm, funny and fun to work with. She's the best!

It is astonishing at how much improvement I have had and how quick it was…read more I had some old and newer injuries that affected balance, movement, walking, knee pain, lower back, hip, etc. It wasn't just that Zonnie knew the exercises that were correct, she knew exactly how to do them, what exact position, and what muscles to activate. She is keenly present from moment to moment observing, correcting, and controlling, and is a very competent, pleasant, and calming presence. Then there is a different way of breathing, standing, balancing, and operating one's body in day-to-day life, the training along with the exercises to activate the appropriate muscles. The improvement in my balance is huge, I was frequently tripping or bumping into things - no more. I love to stand up paddleboard, now my balance has improved so that I can paddle on rougher ocean water. I like hiking again - it had become tiring due to injuries. There are side benefits associated with the core exercises and breathing technique that has improved certain common difficulties associated with males of a certain age. Better sleep etc. My knee, lower back and hip pain seem to be in the past as well. It's a lot more fun to do the day-to-day stuff.

I went to many, MANY places, and they were either too basic or so fast and shouting through a mic that people were going to get hurt. That is NOT the experience you'll get at Pilates Eagle Rock. Jen is a true master, she's had the studio for over 20 years and really knows her stuff. I think I know what I'm doing, then she gives that tiny tweak and I realize I know nothing!! Penny and Sofia are also favorites of mine and SUPER GOOD too. They're former dancers, as am I, so really know how dancers move - and sometimes over extend - to keep me in check. There is no parking lot, but they have small classes and it's super easy to park, so don't let that deter you.

She gave guidance to the guy in the class and one of the girls, but none to me. She asked me afterwards how I liked the class, and I was VERY honest with my response which I can tell she wasn't too happy about. I gave it some time and decided to give it another shot except this time with a different instructor. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! I was so much happier with this instructor. I liked it that much, I came back again and tried out another different instructor but this time, I didn't need any guidance because by the 3rd time here, I was familiar with the class routine. The class is challenging depending on the instructor. It REALLY makes a big difference who's teaching the class especially if you are a newbie to the studio. Studio is nice and clean. There's an area where you can place your stuff. The bathroom is nice and there are some amenities provided for women which is great. Plenty of free parking in a shared lot, but it can get pretty busy sometimes. There is street parking available which is also free.
