We came here due to great reviews on Google but collectively were not impressed with the food here. I had the pasta with swordfish which came highly recommended but found the swordfish lacking in flavor. My friends had the truffle pasta (noted the pasta was really hard and had a weird texture) and another fish dish which were nothing to write home about either. We did appreciate the generous truffle flavor in the pasta though and the staff was very nice. Restaurant itself had a nice ambiance. The little dessert shots they provided at the end were probably my favorite part - a mix of lemon, vodka, and ice cream.

Assaggi located in the Jordaan is a quaint Italian spot with a nice selection of wines and a good menu. The prices are a bit more than the other eateries in the area but the Food is good. The river was tender and David filled. We also ordered the shrimp and calamari which was delicious. The service didn't quite hit the mark. The server was a bit stand offish and only saved by his female counterpart. Would I return? Probably not but if you are in the area and can handle the service it's a safe bet.

Amazing service and really special experience. Our server was so sweet and made great recommendations. Would recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Excellent food. Reminds me of my Grandpa's cooking. (From Sicily) Would definitely come back!!

GO TO THIS PLACE! Oscar (our server/host) will treat you with upmost importance and respect. Super nice man. I can definitely see me and him being best friends in another life. I got the sea bass cannolis and let me tell you, they were DIVINEEEEE. If you're looking for some delicious Italian cuisine, go here! 10/10 GO AMSTERDAAMMMMMMMMMMM

Daniel was the best server & the food was so good! They have gluten free pasta which was delicious. We got the grilled eggplant, Ragu and Carbonara.

Main dishes - ravioli and veal

The closest to authentic Italian food you can get without being in Italy! The veal and ravioli of the day were amazing dishes and the olive oil starter was delicious. I would eat here every day if I could! The wait staff is friendly and attentive and there is plenty of seating inside and out.

What can I say but that I am a fan! We wandered around the Jordaan neighborhood in Amsterdam as we were told it was a foodie area and we stumbled across this restaurant quite by accident. Maria was an absolute delight! They offered any pizza AND any pasta dish gluten-free for Marci, which is not something we find often enough. The focaccia bread was brought to our table with an olive tapenade, along with our Panna water. Mike & I shared a Tirolese Pizza; tomato, buffalo mozzarella, oregano, mushrooms & bacon. The girls shared a gluten-free Assaggi Pizza; tomato, buffalo mozzarella, mascarpone, pancetta, cherry tomatoes, oregano & rocket (arugula). We drank a nice bottle of Barone Montella Montepulciano D'Abruzzi, very reasonably priced, floral on the nose, medium bodied and dry, great with the pizza, and a couple of Aperol Spritzes. Wonderful!

Was able to get a table with a short wait time. All of the servers were attentive and provided excellent recommendations. It's a great place to step away and enjoy a quiet meal in the city.

Our pizza came out slightly cold, the waiter didn't ask if we wanted any drinks and it wasn't a great pizza. Not recommended.

Amazing Italian food. Had the ravioli and shrimp and both were great. The gluten free pasta was also good.

Nondescript atmosphere, lousy food, lousier service and rude to boot. Really nothing good to say about this place.

So next time I was in town, I was sure to make a reservation. They anticipated my arrival and sat me at the bar. They have WiFi that works! The pizza was really good and you could taste its freshness. I had a couple of cocktails but it was really tempting to get beer on tap. The interior is cozy which adds to La Perla's exclusivity and reservation-only culture because there is limited seating inside. My friend recommended La Perla to me. He goes every time he's in Amsterdam. I can see why. Service was also great and quite friendly.

When we arrived we were seated immediately, though service throughout seemed a little slow as they were quite busy and not many waiters/waitresses. We ended up ordering the proscuitto and margherita pizzas, both of which were great! The margherita was so fresh and flavorful - I loved the sauce so much and the thin crust. A great classic pizza. The proscuitto was a bit more elevated with parmesan and arugula, and was also delicious! It was almost a little too much though to the point where I preferred the margherita. Also be sure to try their chili oil - it's so good!

Another very nice Italian place in the little Italy street from Amsterdam…read more Don't expect pizza's here though this is a real kitchen! This very small Italian is always packed. In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. They import a lot from Italy themselves, and you can even but a bottle of olive oil here. The place is full of ferrari signs, foto's of Sophia Loren, etc. It feels like a second home. Great for a nice romantich night out or a double date, maybe not so good if you go with more then 4 people, as the place is very small. Expect to spend about 115 euro for 2 persons incl a bottle of wine. Make sure you reserve a table!

On the outside it doesn't look all too fancy. Inside, the tables are closely arranged; making getting up from your table quite a challenge at times. However the waitress was friendly, and the atmosphere cosy. I had the truffle tagliatelle, which tasted excellent, but sadly wasn't cooked properly; it stuck together. Same goes for the pasta with sausage we had. Maybe the secondi taste better, but I'm not prone to go check them out after this experience. All in all, good service, but for the pricing they might pay a little more attention to the food.

The service and environment were friendly, and the food delivered. We enjoyed a Burrata tomato salad made with arugula, focaccia, penne pasta arriabata, and a rib eye steak. We also purchased a bottle of Italian wine, a barolo that was very nice. I will tell you that if we had drank more going to the bathroom, would've been a harrowing experience as the bathroom is located upstairs up a very narrow, steep stairwell. So, this Italian restaurant is very worthy of being considered while you're in downtown Amsterdam.
