Also, people actually seem to happy to be working here and not overwhelmed. I never saw residents so happy before and I've had many clients at many different facilities. They had a lot of activities for the clients to do as well for everybody no matter what level they were. Nobody got to just stay in their rooms! They had things I had never seen or even heard of being offered anywhere else. They are also very kind and professional and grateful to any outside help that came in whether the family hired the person or they were just there volunteering. Other facilities have been very hostile. They also encourage religious beliefs here where other places even so-called religious places are actually very hostile towards anything religious. People are also humble here they are not so full of themselves. I'm glad to see that the prices have come down some it was $10,000/mo for my patient and family still needed to hire me but of course she was for lack of a better way of putting it, a very unusual type of patient in addition to being paralyzed from the neck down. She was great though And it was my honor to be able to assist her. I'm a hard one to impress in this place did it.

Everyone from the sales staff to the care givers were first rate. I cannot recommend this facility with any higher rating. The executive director, regional administrator and the activity director have blamed the lack of payment on their corporate office. This must justify why they are totally unable to get small invoices paid, do not follow through about providing an answer about sending payments and then do not send us payment. Are they having financial issues generally? Who knows. This is a disservice to the elderly who live there as well as to the honest vendors who provided them with services.

Right before I walked in to meet Raena, the community specialist, for the first time, I said to my sister, who accompanied me, "I have a good feeling about this place." And I was right! Raena was knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. She answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable. The community is clean and relaxed and visually appealing. But more importantly is the culture of the facility. I witnessed employees joking around with each other more than once! They were happy at work - imagine that! The residents were happy as well, and both the employees and residents were welcoming to my sister and me who were strangers on a tour. The community has activities every single day, a doctor that visits once a week, a hair salon, game rooms, meal service, laundry service, a 24 hour receptionist and I could go on and on. On move in day we were all a little nervous, but my family member was welcomed with open arms and that welcome has not stopped yet! I can honestly say that she is getting personalized attention (and love) from the staff and all of the residents have been so very kind and encouraging to her. The first day there my daughter and I stayed with him at the facility for nine hours during this time the nursing assistant came into the room once and this was after I inquired who would be taking care of him. I was told by the RN that the nursing assistant would come into the room every two hours to check if her patients needed any assistance. The man in the room with my husband kept screaming for his diaper to be changed. I returned to the facility the next morning at 9:00am my husband's bed was soiled from his legs draining and his bandages hadn't been changed. The only cover he had on him was a throw that I had brought from home. I was told that he urinated on the floor and soiled his blanket, I had warned the staff that he'd try and get out of bed to go to the restroom, I was also told that he had become combative with the two female staff (not spitting or hitting) but wouldn't follow instructions. A male staff member was called to his room. My husband said the male staff was mean to him with words, to which he told him my circumstance is bad, but I'm still a man. After this he stated the man was nicer. When I asked about his linen being changed and his bandages changed the RN told me wound care, and the nursing assistant would come and take care of him. I was concerned about the lack of attention he was getting and requested hospice to transport him back home. His wounds weren't being taken care of and there was no respite care for me if I was staying with him at the facility, and worried about his care while at home. Administration came to talk to me and asked if he could stay an additional day for them to show the level of care they could provide. I told her in two days the level of care was evident, and I know how mean people can get when a complaint has been filed. I wasn't willing to sacrifice my husband's comfort under the staff's wrath. To solidify my response the RN came into his room fifteen minutes before the EMT arrived to change his bandage. So that was 9:00am to 2:15 pm that his bed was soiled, his bandages on his leg were heavily soiled. I didn't see the nursing assistant at all this day and never met anyone from wound care. When the EMT arrived at 2:30pm they commented on the holes in the wall next to his bed, and his wet bed. I warn anyone thinking about taking family to this facility, they seemed nice, but your loved ones won't get the attention they deserve.

The building is clean and well maintained. My mother was a resident for 7 years. Members of our family visited her or called her at least 6 times a week when she was in Assisted Living and almost daily when she was in Memory Care. I became familiar with the staff and administration and the routines and we worked together to take care of Mom. A person with dementia requires patience and understanding and alot of interaction. Hourly check-ins by a staff member keeps track of care, if a resident is in their apartment.

This is in reply to Susan W's review of Westland House…read more It is interesting that the sibling who lives 2400 miles away and visits the least has such a strong opinion. Let's talk about the snafus. These include medication not being given, sometimes for days at a time. A catheter bag put in backwards, which caused urine to back up into her bladder. Not surprising, Mom had a UTI shortly thereafter. Staff using Mom's personal supplies without replacing them and even using her blood pressure cuff on other patients and returning it hours later. There were also many instances of items missing from her room. Most were eventually replaced, often with a lesser quality product. Even though showers were scheduled ( and paid for) twice a week, they were routinely skipped, sometimes for weeks. We had to hire outside help to bathe her. The final snafu was an aide who was going to give mom the wrong insulin dosage, 3 times the level she should receive. There is a strong possibility that dosage would be fatal. You might also look up what the acronym snafu stands for. It is a military term, Situation Normal, all Fxxxxxx up. That is actually an accurate description. There were numerous complaints to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) while our mom was alive and if you look now, there are at least 5 additional complaints since her passing in October. Keep in mind there are only 50 residents at Westland House. Please see the attachments showing a few of the many complaints. As for Chris, he does make a good first impression. We talked to him for an hour about the issues at Westland House. We mentioned that Wanda is overwhelmed by the job. Chris agreed and said they are hiring a full time nurse ( finally) in addition to Wanda to handle the workload. What does that tell you? Chris agreed that there were on going issues with medicine distribution, housekeeping and general staffing. He thanked us for our comments and by his tone, you could tell he knew about a lot of these issues. Soon after the potentially lethal insulin incident, Chris called us back and said that we were banned from the property. So, instead of addressing the life threatening issue, you try to silence the messenger. The people that Susan W saw on her rare visits were probably the hospice staff, which we initiated. We also fought with Westland House for months on the issues listed above and there was some marginal improvement. Susan W saw improved service from our months of battles. Susan W's assessment of a family member's alleged belligerent behavior had to come from Chris, Wanda or the other siblings. And getting animated when someone is potentially harming your mother, or worse, just shows you care. Now, the rules for senior living facilities are clearly in favor of the facility. They can evict the resident or banish a person for the slightest of reasons, or no reason at all. We also had an ombudsperson from Wayne Country on the case, who worked with us for months. She did a great job. I'm guessing Chris's radical about face happened after he talked to his legal team. They probably weren't happy he told the truth about the conditions there. If you actually do decide to put a loved one at Westland House, keep a detailed log of every major issue and problem and file complaints with the State. We kept the records of the numerous medical mistakes. Every senior living facility has issues. The issues at Westland House are dangerous.

I just moved mom out of Villa Marie. After two years of living there because of the current…read moremanagement team. Trucenia Brown, the current resident manager there now is very difficult to work with and most residents are intimidated by her. Very slow to react to situations needing urgent attention. She communicates by email and will not give out her mobile phone number like her predecessor. If you have something urgent, good luck. The food being served is not the same food that was served when mom initially moved in. Low nutritional value and very inexpensive to make and low quality. Staff members that quit or were fired by management have not been replaced. The rooms are only cleaned every other week and it is not thorough cleaning. The rooms are filthy. If you question anything they do or give feedback, you are immediately targeted. My mother was given a "lease violation" for running into Michelle with her walker. My mother is 92 and uses a walker for mobility. Michelle is a kitchen staff worker who thinks she is in charge most of the time. Very condescending and if she doesn't like you will create a story about a resident so that they will get a lease violation. 3 lease violations and you have to move out. This has been a common occurrence since residents have been targeted for removal. Many residents are moving out because of this staff member. After finding out from current residents that there were 12 covid cases at Villa Marie, I had to call and ask management point blank, are there any cases. I was told they were not aware of any. This was approximately March 30th after the entire world knew what this virus could do. After I told them that residents told me specifically who had the virus than a letter was sent out to everyone stating that some residents did have the virus. Poor management. If you love your family member, steer clear of this place. Yes, the monthly rates are low but as Trucenia Brown would say, "You get what you pay for, what do you expect for $1940/monthly." I have contacted upper management at Trinity Health Care and no one there seems to care. Becky Lund is the senior VP and was made aware of everything in this review. All anyone seems to care about is protecting their jobs and reputation and bottom line profits but as far as the residents go, they are at the short end of the list. Pay attention to the corporate response to this review, they will tell me to call them so they can rectify the matter but they won't. They will pretend to care but they don't. The prior team at Villa Marie was caring, attentive, prompt and humane. Not this staff!! I hope this review helps things get better at Villa Marie for the residents!!

We had lunch with my friends aunt (Aunt Lydia) and the food was good. Very fresh and loved the soup. Aunt Lydia loves it at Villa Marie she kept telling my friend (her niece) she wishes she had moved sooner. It is a great place and very clean.
