The staff were nice, aside from the woman who made my appointment who was not at all interested in providing me with any information about the appointment other than date, time and place (i like to know who I will be seeing at the very least). Their policy seems to be that everyone gets a hearing test, whether you came for one or not. Seems like a bit of a money grab to me. The audiologist gave me the test, never identified herself as the doctor and told me the "provider" (PA) would review the results with me. Just weird. The PA was very nice, took time to explain another, but was not really interested in why I had been referred there (cloudy ear drums). She did a scope of my sinuses, then offered a CT scan as the next step. Surgery would follow that. I came away knowing that my hearing is fine, which I already knew. My sinuses are congested, which I already knew. Can't wait to see the insurance bill for this! read more

I am a thirty-three-year-old young woman dealing with the embarrassing reality of first-time hearing aid use at such an early age.  My hearing impairment has always been an emotional struggle - I never understood why I felt so overlooked and disconnected in social or educational settings before this diagnosis.  However, nothing could prepare me to the shame I felt when I attempted to pay for my hearing aids at Associated Otolaryngologists of Pennsylvania in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. I worked with my Audiologist, Rebecca, for several weeks trying to find the prefect hearing aid. Rebecca has been an amazing Audiologist and she truly guided me through these tumultuous times.  I was excited to commence hearing the world through a fresh and healthy perspective when I went to pick up my hearing aids on April 5, 2021. Throughout the past several weeks, I spoke with Rebecca regarding my insurance coverage, as well as my options if I had to pay out of pocket for my hearing aids.  After processing the hearing aids through my insurance, I still had a balance of $1,036.  I made certain the office participated in CareCredit in order to utilize their special financing program.  I was informed on March 29, 2021 that I just needed my CareCredit account number to process my payment.  I brought my physical CareCredit card with me on April 5, 2021.  I informed Bonnie that I was going use my CareCredit to pay for the remaining balance, however I noticed she was apprehensive and inexperienced in processing such transactions - she was searching in a binder for instructions. Bonnie did not know that Synchrony Financial was involved in CareCredit.  I told Bonnie that I brought the physical credit card with me, but I was not certain if the account was properly activated.  I subsequently called CareCredit customer service to ensure everything was in order. The CareCredit customer service representative informed me that my card had recently expired, however Bonnie could efficiently process the transaction with my CareCredit account number they provided me.  Bonnie seemed to encounter further difficulties locating the account, and told me that she needed more information to process the transaction.  I contacted CareCredit again and was advised that the Carlisle office can locate my account number through a portal called "CareCredit System" and I would also have to provide an ID to complete the transaction, so Bonnie called her billing office. I could not find anything humorous about my situation, however Bonnie and her friend from the billing department were laughing and giggling at my expense.  As I could feel my patience wearing thin, I let Bonnie know that I have an appointment on April 21, 2021, and I could leave the devices here until said appointment.  I then waited twenty more minutes while Bonnie and her office manager conversed.  They located my name in the CareCredit System, but could not process the transaction, because they said I provided an incorrect account number. Bonnie then requested I surrender my hearing aids to her until the office could properly educate themselves on CareCredit.  I was quite hurt and upset since my insurance had already contributed $5,200 for these devices.  CareCredit informed me that Bonnie could have easily resolved this issue by contacting CareCredit Provider customer service, or even asked me for another payment method until she found time to do so. I was treated very unjustly throughout this entire interaction, and embarrassed that the office shamed and made assumptions regarding my economic situation.  I concluded that it would be best for my health to cancel my hearing aid order right there, and sever my relationship with Associated Otolaryngologists of Pennsylvania.  Tina, the office manager, reached out and accused me of attempting to pay my outstanding balance with an expired CareCredit card and a fraudulent CareCredit account number. I have paid several hundred dollars out of pocket for services at AOP; my insurance company has also paid AOP several thousands of dollars.  Tina's accusations painted me as a dishonest patient.  She also told me that Bonnie's laughter on the phone was acceptable behavior because she knows her personally, and she would never laugh at a patient's financial situation.  Tina's lack of concern and professionalism concerned me, especially because she was apparently the only person I could speak to regarding this matter. It is most unfortunate that I cannot continue my treatment and must live with an impairment as a result of this encounter.  AOP should be accountable for their actions instead of blaming patients for their own inexperience working with CareCredit.  I am severely distraught and exhausted that I must now live without my hearing aids as I commence my process with a new provider. read more

In early 2020 my wife was having an ear problem called Bullous Myringitis, which is a type of unusual ear infection resulting in blisters in the ear canal. This causes you to lose a considerable amount of hearing in your ear, or ears (if both have it), usually temporarily. After antibiotics from the family doctor's practice, she felt she may have lingering symptoms and continued poor hearing. To have things checked out more closely she chose to go to Associated Otolaryngologists of Pennsylvania (Camp Hill) for a routine checkup. She liked that the photo on the website showed all-male doctors which she prefers, for reason not important to this review, and also company reviews were not bad. Below are the exact steps she was subject to (other than the typical waiting). The standard tone hearing test, including a man's voice range test, in a booth from, we assume, an Audiologist. Currently, the website does not list any Audiologists as working there. Keep in mind you can get a similar test for free, or near free, if you are a member of a SAMS type club. Next, it was into the "doctors" office, only it was a PA and not a doctor. OK, we know this is typical especially if one is a new patient, which is fine as long as nothing complex, like surgery, is going to take place. So the PA asked some questions, looked in the ears and then decided to do an endoscopy type exam where she put a camera tube up my wife's sinus canal from the nose to the ear. My wife was told no pain was involved. The PA, of course, numbed the area, although my wife said the one side was very painful, with no explanation given for that pain (other than an apology). Total time for all of the above, 30 minutes. This is all that was done, and it turned out my wife's ears were fine, other than routine old age hearing loss. They did not try to convince my wife to buy hearing aids which was a positive. Customer service was OK, other than the PA was not the friendliest person on Earth. They get an average rating for that. The "Audiologist" was nice. Our main complaint is how the visit was billed to insurance. To sum up, the charges were as such. Hearing Care $95, Hearing Care $40, Consultation $170, Surgery $275. Of course what the insurance "allowed" was less. We won't get into that stupidity. We were not sure what the two "Hearing Care" charges were for as my wife did not have 2 separate "Cares" in that respect. As well what was the "Surgery" charge for? So we called our insurance company to see if everything looked legit. We were told it was although the kind lady on the phone agreed with us that the medical community is overusing the charge of "surgery" in order to bill a higher charge and the laws are letting them. She said the insurance companies are not happy about it. So, since we have a $150 deductible on any "surgery" we had to pay $150 out of pocket. Whereas had the "lets stretch the truth" surgery been billed more correctly as a "procedure" we would not have had to pay anything and we would not have felt there was some unethical behavior taking place. Of course, Associated Otolaryngologists of Pennsylvania did not inform my wife of these horrendous charges before they provided service. Buyer beware I suppose. But now you know, and can make a more informed choice of provider. read more

First off if you move to the area do not expect this office to take transfer patients. I moved to PA and my insurance supports me having my cochlear implant and testing maintenance no questions. They told me this office services my specific brand advanced bionics. However when I called this company they flat out refused to take transfer patients. I tried to plead my case and explain well I moved and you service advanced bionics. They said to me oh well not my problem. Really? Great service when they could.have understood my situation knowing I have only two options in my state. This office has a bad impression because they do not want to help someone who moved. I work 5 mins from this office and they don't want to take me at all when I have moved. I bet this is the worst place to go so I suggest you all check other locations out. read more

I have had severe bilateral Meniere's disease for a number of years. I've been to specialists at Albany Med in New York, Penn in Philadelphia, Geisinger, Johns Hopkins, and Osteopathic in Harrisburg. It wasn't until I met Dr. Isaacson that I found some relief and some answers to the symptoms of this disease. He takes the time to listen and research things, unlike some of the others Doctors I visited. He didn't shrug me off like one of the others did. He didn't resort to immediate extreme measures like another I went to. He is knowledgeable, patient and thorough, though I know he has a heavy case load. I highly recommend Dr. Isaacson. He will try his hardest to help and if there is nothing more he can do, he will tell you so. read more

My twin toddlers both had issues with their hearing at a young age. I cannot express how much their bedside manner was and still is appreciated with regard to the care and concern of my littles. Highly recommend! read more

My step daughter went to a doctor when she was and put tubes in her ears. They fell out and he tried putting the one back in and really messed it up. So she went to another ear doctor and he tried to fix it but it was no good. So by the time I met her she was 7 and had 90 loss of hearing in her left ear. Dr. Shapiro at AOP we go to the one in Camp Hill couldn't believe it was that bad. She had surgery within a month and she now has 90 percent hearing. She had a full ear drum replacement. read more

This dr along with his staff including voice therapy really cares about their patients. They look at you when you talk to them. I am a hugger so when they asked to hug me that felt heart warming. My surgery went so good, my recovery was super monitored. They listened to every concern. They seem to enjoy what they do, and it is a nice relaxed atmosphere. My thyroidectomy scar looks great. read more

I had a piece of metal in my tongue and went to see Dr. James P. Malone at AOP. He said he could get the item out. After over 2 hours in the OR he tells me it is not out. When I called to have him look at my tongue his staff could not get me in the office in a timely manner. My family doctor called and asked that I see one of the other doctors and I get a phone call from Dr. Malone's office saying they will not see me. Highly suggest if you need a ENT doctor do not go to them. read more

I have an ear completely full of fluid & can hear nothing. I called for an appointment, and spent 15 minutes answering questions. After that, I was told I couldn't get in for 6 weeks! When I said was problem was of a semi-urgent nature, I was told that all ENT Doctors are backed qay up on their schedules. Very POOR customer service! read more

I have to disagree with these bad reviews. All the staff I have encountered in this practice have been nothing but nice. I see Dr. Christopher French for sinus issues. I recently had bilateral sinus surgery, septoplasty & turbinate reduction. I have never felt better in my life. For the first time I can breathe through my nose and not my mouth. For months prior to my surgery I could not smell or taste due to the sinus issues. I can now finally smell & taste. Sorry guys but my experience was a good one! read more

Sadly I never made it to an appointment. The scheduler was arrogant. after waiting 3 months for an appointment at their most inconvenient location, I received paperwork in the mail that was certainly not patient friendly. I canceled and tried to explain why...they could care less. read more

I have always suffered from chronic sinus and allergy symptoms, after years of antibiotics, allergy shots/pills, I haven't been able to fully hear out of my right ear in over a year. Frustrated and exasperated, I decided to give AOP a call. Prior to calling I had my PCP send me for a CT scan of my sinuses, on which showed a concha bullosa (bony air pocket) and fluid in my right sinus. I call to set up an appointment and had to wait over a month to be seen. **Disclaimer** I went to another ENT at this same practice in 2011 who was WONDERFUL but has since retired. When I go to the appointment, I waited for over 20 minutes in the waiting room before getting a room. Immediately after, I was hastily rushed out of my room by a nurse due to the doctor needing to use that room for an exam. I was placed in a room where the computer was initially working, so about four nurses/ MAs came in the room to troubleshoot the computer while another MA is trying to take my medical history. Very distracting. When the Dr. Malone comes in, he is nice but basically tells me he sees nothing wrong out of the ordinary with my CT scan. He scopes me and suggests allergy testing. I ask him about the concha bullosa and he says, "oh we are just going to leave it." My PCP had advised me that since I am having symptoms, they should've done surgery to remove it. Dr. Malone was friendly enough, but I can't help but feel that my symptoms and concerns were dismissed prematurely. I am pretty miserable. He also kept my CT scans, when I wanted the copy back. When I went to schedule a follow-up with him at checkout per his request, I cannot get back in for over a month. If you are looking for a fairly fast turnaround, I would look elsewhere. read more

Been taking my kids to see Dr Shapiro for (combined) the last 14 years. He has done 6 sets of tubes, 2 adenoidectomys and one tube removal between my 2 sons. He is the perfect pediatric ENT...silly with the kids, kind and straight forward with parents. We have also had many visits with their Physician's Assistant, whom my youngest refers to as "Dr Kevin"...and he is great as well. Definately recommend the practice! read more

I have been a patient of this office since 2009 and now have a child that goes there. The doctors are excellent which is why I have not switched, but their front office has been terrible since I have started attending, and I don't believe it will ever get better. After some more recent poor experiences, I think we will have to try to find a new ENT that we love. read more
