Almost a year later, I found that between mobile applications and dozens of hours of telenovelas with terrible soap opera theme music (hahaha, no seriously), I still couldn't even have a basic conversation in the language. I have only been with Spanish Blackbelt for one term and my ability to understand and speak the language in conversation has grown exponentially. This program is very technical and intentional. The entire class is taught in Spanish and all questions are encouraged to be spoken in Spanish as well. I am not where I want to be in my Spanish goals yet, but I definitely rate Spanish BlackBelt 5 stars and highly recommend. The offices are easy to find, well maintained, wonderfully staffed, and comfortable to take an exam in. The bathrooms are clean and on the same floor as the office. They are strict with security protocols so remember two forms of proper ID. All your personal belongings are locked up in a locker. I was provided with a pencil, scratch paper, and a basic calculator. The office is near construction and some sound does bleed through the walls. Earphones and earplugs were provided. It was a minor distraction. Special thanks to Ria who was my proctor. I was really nervous to take my exam but her calm demeanor and professional guidance helped me tremendously. She was very kind, walked me through the process, and checked on me during the exam. I really appreciated her kind assistance. Overall, an excellent experience!

He followed up every session with a detailed evaluation, which he sent the next day. Our son received an 800 on the math section, and 690 on the verbal. And, most important, he was admitted, early decision, to the college he most wanted to attend. The standardized testing regime is awful, biased, and a rip off. But, until it withers and dies off, places like Competitive Edge Tutoring are very helpful in getting through it.

Megan helped my younger daughter for both the ACT and Spanish SAT 2 and we found her help invaluable.  We even recommended her to other family members. Her final ACT score was 35. My older daughter used Liz and Dimitri for the ACT and Willis for Spanish. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Going back to high school, I had a terrific experience working with Advantage on my college entrance exams. Even though I hated studying in school, I genuinely enjoyed working with AT's teachers. Aside from being gifted instructors, they are some of the friendliest people you'll meet, and they seem to genuinely care about their students. I remember they customized a study plan for me, focusing on the areas of the test that I needed to improve the most. Following their plan, and using the strategies I learned in class, I earned a 760 Verbal, 750 Math I, 790 Writing, and an 800 Math II, all a significant boost above my diagnostic scores (which I recall being in the low ~600 range). Years later, when I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer, and began looking for the right LSAT test prep service, turning to Advantage was a no-brainer. On my first LSAT practice test, I received a diagnostic evaluation in the 55th percentile. I knew that I would need a significant (aka Elle Woods-level) jump in my LSAT score to have a decent shot at the top schools. That's when Advantage came in. Studying with Advantage tutors, you learn to break down each section of the test into a set of consistent techniques, which you hone and solidify over repeated practice tests. After months of test prep, I took the LSAT and scored a 99th percentile on the official exam. Equipped with a great LSAT score, I was admitted to my top choice for law school, a feat that had seemed impossible only a few months prior. Now, as a practicing attorney looking back on it, I am certain I would not have been nearly as well prepared with any other test prep service.
