On both days of testing, staff were very clear with their instructions and efficient for the most part. Staff members were a little more short tempered in the morning when there was a lot of people but definitely friendlier later on. The testing room itself was much more spacious and surprisingly quiet (despite being in downtown brooklyn). There were a good amount of lockers with 2 coat racks. A lockers can definitely fit a standard backpack/moderate sized tote bag. There was a lot of space/seating for breaks, from tables to couches. Bathrooms were also clean. Only thing is that I wish they had more signs and clocks were more easily visible. You're supposed to wait for a staff member to conduct a security check when you head into the testing area but sometimes they don't see you from where they are sitting so I was initially very confused if I just walk in or wait. For those with time-sensitive breaks, they only have an (older) analog clock in the break area and none in the hallway/bathrooms so you really have to keep track yourself. Overall my test days went pretty smoothly at this testing center. Good luck to you!

I am so grateful to have found Brian and to have had numerous intensive lessons with him before the exam. I have been teaching for a long time myself, and I can say first hand that Brian is an amazing teacher. Not only was he attentive to my specific mathematical needs, I could also tell he was very invested in wanting me to do well. Brian never made me feel like anything was too difficult or unattainable. He explained all my questions in depth and was always very concerned with making sure I understood everything. Even if that meant going over it again...and again. Brian helped me make diagrams for a statistics research project I was working on as part of my degree in Psychology. I was later asked to present that project at a honors convention my college was hosting. I am sure that his elaborate graphs/diagrams and extensive knowledge in statistics which he imparted contributed to that. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, fluent in every math concept known to man, enthusiastic, patient, efficient, eloquent and kind tutor--look no further. Brian was so instrumental to my success on the GREs and in boosting my confidence. I never thought I would be able to comprehend half the concepts I did. I strongly recommend Elite Ivy Tutors and Brian if you are looking to invest in a tutor. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. Going back to high school, I had a terrific experience working with Advantage on my college entrance exams. Even though I hated studying in school, I genuinely enjoyed working with AT's teachers. Aside from being gifted instructors, they are some of the friendliest people you'll meet, and they seem to genuinely care about their students. I remember they customized a study plan for me, focusing on the areas of the test that I needed to improve the most. Following their plan, and using the strategies I learned in class, I earned a 760 Verbal, 750 Math I, 790 Writing, and an 800 Math II, all a significant boost above my diagnostic scores (which I recall being in the low ~600 range). Years later, when I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer, and began looking for the right LSAT test prep service, turning to Advantage was a no-brainer. On my first LSAT practice test, I received a diagnostic evaluation in the 55th percentile. I knew that I would need a significant (aka Elle Woods-level) jump in my LSAT score to have a decent shot at the top schools. That's when Advantage came in. Studying with Advantage tutors, you learn to break down each section of the test into a set of consistent techniques, which you hone and solidify over repeated practice tests. After months of test prep, I took the LSAT and scored a 99th percentile on the official exam. Equipped with a great LSAT score, I was admitted to my top choice for law school, a feat that had seemed impossible only a few months prior. Now, as a practicing attorney looking back on it, I am certain I would not have been nearly as well prepared with any other test prep service. In sum, I don't think there is anyone as professional or effective as Advantage when it comes to the hard work of preparing for high-stakes entrance exams. I recommend them without hesitation.

The owner could not have been more supportive, brilliant and knowledgeable about the entire process. I was delighted to visit on testing day to see a bright and warm school environment that was carefully prepared and planned to help every single student succeed. I am so inspired by this place that encourages students to work hard and reach for their dreams! Sky's the limit! Everyone there is so kind and so helpful. They're just happy to be there. I met many former graduates and enjoyed learning about this exceptional place of learning. The care and attention to every detail in this school is phenomenal and I would trust Frances with anything. She is a brilliant woman who is kind and caring beyond what I ever imagined possible. Thank you so much! We came just to take a test but left inspired. Look at these healthy snacks they give their students to recharge! I'm telling you, this is a place that has been engineered to the highest level of success in all the right ways, with the best of intentions. They've also given back to their community in so many ways, helping so many young people to achieve their dreams. Kudos to this place!

Choosing test prep at Kweller has been one of the best decisions we made along his academic journey. Thanks to @kwellerprep, my son's essay writing, reading comprehension, math and vocabulary knowledge have improved measurably. Before Kweller, my son would use basic vocabulary to convey his thoughts, often in run-on sentences. Now, he can compose a compelling coherent essay with an interesting introductory "hook" incorporating the rich set of advanced vocabulary he picked up through Kweller courses. This transformation has clearly shown in his ELA and math grades this year! Covid took many things away from us, not the least of which is a valuable in-person learning experience in the classroom. We could make up for lost time with enrichment classes at Kweller. I'm happy to recommend this excellent, rigorous academic program. $100 Discount code: Tristate100

The staff from this place seemed to be everywhere, handing out flyers like they were the hottest concert tickets in town. My parents probably got roped in by one of those enthusiastic paper-pushers and there we were a few months later... enrolled and ready to study. We got some discounts due to my parents' negotiation skills. You also get a $50 discount if you max out on the elementary state exam and bring proof (definitely do this -- ethically or... not). Despite having taken all the exams and now being a college student, I still receive letters from this place. Just the other day, I found one with my name despite being years into my college degree and almost ready to graduate, and I couldn't help but laugh--talk about commitment. I spent a couple of years here tackling both the SHSAT and SAT. The teachers were passionate, and they gave out report cards to track our progress, which was nice. However, posting test scores on the hallway walls felt more toxic than motivating. Also, some of their SHSAT prep material was questionable. Did it help? Well, I got into an Ivy League, but I wouldn't attribute all my success to this place. It's not as bad as some reviews claim. It's a mixed bag--passionate teachers and solid progress tracking, but the public scoreboards and some questionable prep materials bring it down a notch. And if nothing else, they're certainly persistent in keeping in touch!

I've taken two exams with Pearson in the…read morepast and both times I've found the system in place to be efficient and pleasant (or as pleasant as one can be when taking an exam). It's important to note that in this particular building, the earliest you can arrive is half an hour before your appointment. Any earlier, and the security guard will force you to leave the building (they will not let you stay in the lobby). When you arrive at the security desk in the middle of the lobby, they already have your name on a list with all other test takers so you just need to show your ID to verify who you are. Upon entering the suite, you again show your ID (and a credit card or something else with your signature) to the guy up front. They give you a set of instructions to read over and when you're done, you get your picture taken. Depending on the test you're taking, you may also have to get a pulse reading. You then stash all your stuff in a locker and take your ID, locker key, and maybe a calculator if one is permitted to the entrance of the exam room. Your proctor then goes over rules with you (basically whatever you need whether it's to go to the bathroom or you need more scrap paper, you just raise your hand and the proctor comes to you). The proctor then walks you to your seat and logs you into your exam. You're taking your exam in a room with a bunch of other people separated by cubicle walls and there's a timer on your computer. This center also had two clocks on the walls so you can check what time it is. Noise canceling headphones are also on your desk and ear plugs are available upon request. Once you're done, you go to the front and there's usually a printout. Either you get your results right away or the printout instructs you on when to expect results. You get your stuff out of the locker and you're free to leave. The staff at this location are all super friendly and efficient so definitely come here if you're an anxious test taker like me and want the moments leading up to your exam to go smoothly.

No cellphone use or studying of any kind is allowed in the test center and only test takers are allowed in the center. Your exam starts the time when you are seated at your assigned workstation and although your exam time is at a specific time and you are seated after that time you still get your all your allotted time for your exam.. Delays happen if computer updates need to be ran, if you leave your items in your pocket when they are to be stored in lockers delay time being seated. If you have specific exam questions like how many sections or the time allotted for sections, how long before you get your results and all other exam specifics you need to refer to your exam board. The test center staff is there to deliver the exam, help with computer issues, give you materials that is allowed in order for you to take your exam. I cannot stress enough that the staff is given limited information detailed information you can receive from your exam board. They do not schedule exams or make changes to the schedule. If you are late it will delay others if you are accommodated. No one wants to deal with the attitude that comes from test takers just as much as test takers don't want to deal with the attitude from the test center staff. The staff understands that test takers are nervous and try their best.

Genius Prep was described to me as Kumon meets Chuck e Cheese. I'd say that's an accurate…read moredescription (and a million dollar idea). Lance, the founder, is not only an engaging and potent math teacher (and I say this after blowing through 5 math teachers in an attempt to find "the one" for my teenage daughter), but he is goal oriented and authoritative. He was the first teacher who had a plan and told ME how and when he was going achieve the goals. So far we are on target. I am referring to Lance as a teacher as opposed to a tutor because I believe there is a distinction. A tutor helps students with what they don't understand in school (or to prepare for a test). A teacher goes beyond "tutoring" and knows WHAT needs to be taught and has efficient and varied methods and a curriculum. A great teacher is much harder to find than a great tutor. The closest comparison to Genius Prep is Kumon. Both are what I refer to as "after schooling" or "caulking." They go beyond "tutoring/homework help" and are intended to shore up foundational skills to the point of automaticity (not something most schools do). Kumon moves a student up to the next level after the student passes a test to prove mastery (speed and accuracy). Lance tests for mastery too. My daughter must achieve an 85% or higher on the state exam before he'll move her along to the next level. Hallelujah. I don't want to hear from my daughter that she gets it. I want to see the results...from a test. I'm a huge fan of Kumon and somehow managed to convince my teenage son to do 20 minutes of Kumon worksheets for an entire year (and he had his best math year ever), but there wasn't a lot of "fun" involved; there was a lot of whining (him) and cajoling (me). Lance adds fun into the equation at Genius Prep. Half of the center is working space (i.e. quite rooms with desks) and the other half is a game room (think Chuck e Cheese). After students complete their work they can take a break and play fussball or video games or basketball, etc. What a novel idea! And there are prizes and snacks too (and do not underestimate the magic of this. I've heard my daughter refer to those juice boxes a surprising amount of times and she seems to be motivated by those little toys, which sort of surprised me). Sessions are 90 minutes long with a 10 minute break in the middle and are very reasonably priced. It's intense work but with a high level of joy. Incidentally, I believe "learning" can be fun too, though it's just hard to convince students of this because most have experienced so many un-engaging teachers that they don't believe it. My 16-year-old daughter actually likes going to Genius Prep to learn math. I never thought I'd write those words. I was shooting for "she'll do it without much complaining."
