You'll get to see many of the government offices as well as go up in the clock tower and down in the basement. For the engineering nerds, you can admire how the building is reinforced for earthquakes. You can also walk in the tunnel underground where Ted Bundy was escorted from jail.

Spent some time in Temple Square when I was in town this week for a conference…read more I learned about the Restoration from statues on the grounds, entered the tabernacle to view the massive organ inside, and was impressed by the architecture of both the Assembly Hall and the Temple, which is currently closed for restorations till April 2027, after which it will be open to the general public for 6 months. Will be back, as I wasn't able to attend the noon choir during this trip.

I try to drink over half of that before I get to have my first cup of coffee in the morning. I think it's the best thing I've done for myself in reducing pain and promoting significant healing. 2. HELP OTHERS!!!! I hope this review helps someone - if not you, then I hope you keep this in mind for someone you know that may benefit from this. The doctors won't be telling you what I'm going to share here..... 3. REVERSE OSMOSIS BAD! I have painful nerve damage in my face for the past 7 years. One mistake - probably the worst thing that I did to myself in trying to heal this thing - was that I was drinking reverse osmosis water. I was thinking that getting rid of all of the impurities of city water would be a good thing (and it is)... but the bad thing that I didn't realize was that I was also robbing my body of all of the minerals (especially magnesium!) by drinking filtered water! 4. NO "FILTERED". Almost all bottled water is just "filtered" and you are not (IMO) doing your immune system any favors by buying and drinking that stuff! 5. SHINGLES, TN & PHN. Trigeminal Neuralgia (or also called Post Herpetic Neuralgia) is the technical term for this outrageously painful condition. Mine was caused by getting shingles in my face without a rash (shingles can happen anywhere in your bod and does not have to present a rash!!!!).... and mine was misdiagnosed for 6 months - leaving me with a horrid damaged nerve that serves 1/2of my face. I couldn't talk for 3 years - too much pain. I've tried hard to not get on the slippery slope of taking more and more prescription drugs for this. There is no such thing as living pain free with it - so might as well let a little pain happen and then my brain has a crack at figuring out what nerve needs healing. And I've accomplished that! So my doctors are shocked that I'm doing much better every year - instead of getting worse. So please share this info if it can help someone. 6. SPRING WATER ONLY. So a year ago, I had the good fortune of tripping across a doctor talking about this on AM radio when I was doing a boring drive from Denver to Omaha to see a neurosurgeon (that was a total waste of time and money!). I started to have spring water (NEVER just "filtered" water) delivered when I lived in Denver. Here, in SLC, the only company that delivers 5 gallon jugs of spring water also charges $13 service fee every time they come by. It gets expensive - quickly. 7. JOINT PAIN To anyone with joint problems, I also found out those crinkly cheap water bottles are very, very bad for you. Do your own homework. I had pain in both knees and one hip starting to happen from me drinking about 75 bottles of the cheapo drinking water bottles from a warehouse store over the course of a little over a month when I was too broke to buy the RO filters that needed changing! Once I heard that doc on the radio, I went to drinking spring water from glass on roadtrips. Pain went away in about 2-3 weeks completely - a year ago. I plan on skiing this winter!!! I'm aware of the perchlorate issue - so I just revisit that issue every 6 months or so. But the benefits (for me) far outweigh that risk that exists from this source. I truly hope this helps someone. Only negative is finding a place to park sometimes. But saving $80-100 a month for my family is worth it.

Decorated for Christmas made the one hour tour even more special. The tour normally includes just the main floor with the parlor, study, dining room, kitchen and pantry. But right now they are also taking guests up the grand staircase to the ballroom. The original art is fabulous. The wood work, plaster work, murals, all gorgeous. The history shared about the Kearns family and past governors was interesting. And the Christmas decorations were the icing in the cake. Take advantage of this free tour which I believe is offered in the summer and part of November and December. Park in the free lot off of H Street and they will let you enter the East gate right on the hour.

The Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Temple Square in Salt Lake City is worth stepping into, even…read moreif just for a few quiet minutes. The lobby is absolutely spectacular and feels like it belongs to another era, with elegant details that immediately catch your eye. There isn't a whole lot to see or do throughout the rest of the building, but that almost adds to its calm atmosphere. I appreciated being able to warm up, slow down, and enjoy the peaceful, serene setting for a bit. It's a simple stop, but a pleasant one that offers a nice pause from the cold and the bustle outside.

Tip: The original Hotel Utah was built in 1911 The lobby of this building has impressive marble columns and a sweeping staircase which contribute to a striking, majestic look and feel.  The building still has quite a lot of character.  The middle floors contain offices, and downstairs there a genealogy research library where visitors can look up facts about their ancestors.

Near the flagpole, you'll find this sculpture of a boy and girl. They are standing on opposite sides of a podium that holds the Preamble to the Constitution. The young lady is holding the Constitution with both hands and the young man is pointing to the flagpole with his right hand. The podium is engraved with: "Erected as a tribute to our Nation's constitution and flag by the school children of Salt Lake City. A.D. 1936-37"

Utah Capital Building The seat of Utah's government is open…read moreto public for tours and exploration. You can visit the Senate, the House Chamber, and the Supreme Court Chamber. The building has cherry blossom tress all around it , so during spring it is a treat for the eyes - that is how our guide explained, but for me, the building on top of a little hill, emerging from the snow looked magical and fairy tale'ish. Being the Capital Building, it has plenty of parking. Vip's and dignitaries have specially reserved areas. Admission is free. This turned out to be especially important with building quite a distance from the city , and being winter, restaurants etc are mostly closed, and the temperatures outside freezing - it was perfect to just stay as long as it was open, enjoying the warm temperatures , admiring the huge buildings, the painted ceilings, innumerable art pieces around, the number of floors, AND a cafeteria! It became a full day picnic .... lol. Mon- Thursday- opens as early as 7 am and closes at 8 pm. The grey building and its sober interiors, with dash of golden , sometimes due to the sculptures and sometimes due to electric lights, makes it interesting for many pictures. Oh! and the stone lions outside are majestic ! The Grand Rotunda dome, the murals and the Gold Room are some of the highlights. Definitely worth a visit.

This is the temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. It's 253,015 sq ft & is the largest Latter-day Saint temple by floor area. It was dedicated in 1893, it is the 6thtemple completed by the church, requiring 40 years to complete, and the fourth temple built. The temple was closed in December 2019 for remodelling & seismic renovations as the temple since on a fault & is prone to earthquakes. It is scheduled to reopen in 2026.
