There's tons of housing, education facilities, and sports venues. Some of them are by the Town Lake! All of the buildings looked fresh and inviting. I visited during the off-season (winter break) and people were still roaming the campus enjoying the many amenities and eateries nearby (or should I say inside?). It seems like ASU is the heartbeat of Downtown Tempe, I never felt overwhelmed, I just felt this warm, scholastic pride for Tempe's esteemed campus. I definitely want to visit Mullet Arena soon to see some Sun Devils hockey!

Then I asked them to confirm if the outlandish number I was seeing was accurate and they couldn't give me an answer I had to ask 6 more times via calls and emails. When I finally convinced someone to respond to me via email? Yes, the outlandish number was correct. Having two associates and a bachelors already, Arizona State still wanted me to take general education classes on top of literally double the amount of classes my current college required for their CS degree. It was quite literally shocking and wasted everyone's time by not simply having a transfer tool or DARS report available for potential students. All in all, I highly recommend anyone considering Arizona State to compare schools, as attending ASU would have increased my degree runway by more than a year and cost me thousands more dollars for the exact same degree.

It is a great college for those who apply themselves. Even though I'm not catholic I had a great time learning about theology and values. I found that the morals of the campus help set the bar for a better learning environment. The part I liked most were the small classes and the teacher to student interaction. The most students I ever had in one of my classes was 31 students! I had some really great teachers that invested their time and talent into helping me decide where I wanted to focus my education and career path. Teachers like Prof Laurin, Perry, Tole, Raul and Kirkham. With this knowledge I was able to open my own business and am already able to say that my business would not be capable of growing so fast and smoothly had I not had such a great experience at Benedictine.

I like to take a quick, quiet walk on my lunch break and take in the scenery. It's a really peaceful area that is convenient to public transportaion and shopping.

When it comes to the Jewish students at ASU, Hillel is one of a very few places that they go to for support whether it be a talented group of staff, a building that feels like home, and plenty of intentional programming and activities that take place both within the building and across the four ASU campuses. As an ASU staff member and a Hillel board member, I have found myself staying in touch with Hillel staff members and student leaders on a regular basis and making it over to the Hillel Jewish Student Center whenever I get a chance. This year, being based at the West Valley Campus has made it more challenging to do so, but when I plan the drive out accordingly, I can make it to special events on the Tempe Campus or at the Hillel Jewish Student Center. After having worked at three universities each with a Hillel center, I have been impressed with the work put in by the staff, volunteers, and student leaders to create such a meaningful experience for the students and community members who find themselves at Hillel. Hillel offers programming to celebrate the many Jewish holidays throughout the year including weekly Shabbat services and even the High Holidays when classes are in session. Their website (https://www.hillelasu.org) highlights many of these events in a calendar. They also have communities within the community at Hillel including groups for students involved with Greek Life, engineering, business, journalism, the Downtown Campus, the Polytechnic campus, and those interested in social justice. There are also Birthright Israel trips sponsored by Hillel bringing students on 10-day trips to Israel. For many of the programs and events, even non-Jewish students are welcome to join. They also offer Kosher food onsite, scholarships, employment and internships, travel opportunities, and an opportunity for families to connect. In fact, there are events during Move-In, Family Weekend, Jewish holidays including the High Holidays, and other times throughout the year when families are welcome to join their students (though they technically are never turned away). There are also opportunities for the community and alumni to make donations to support such programming. From the annual fundraiser L'dor V'dor to the new capital campaign to get a new building built, there are many ways to contribute. I certainly recommend anyone knowing a current or future ASU student who has Jewish ties to continue reaching out to the ASU Hillel to connect with them.

despite phoenix (or AZ in general) not being a hotbed for art and design, the school of design at…read moreASU is actually pretty good. speaking at least for the Industrial Design program, the school has managed to pull together a knowledgeable and likable staff. most colleges within ASU have an incredibly high teacher/student ratio, the college of design keeps it very low. your professors will get to know you on a personal level and it would be too evident for you to miss a class. most importantly, the structure of the program WILL prepare you for the real world, if you let it. a lot of times it will be hard to see the importance of certain lessons, especially early on, but the later classes are very relevant. the school does a good job of teaching both the artistic and scientific perspective when it comes to design. but be warned, this program (ID) is not for the faint of heart... be prepared to spend all-nighters in the studio while your friends may be out partying. the studio will become a new home for you and your new design family. despite the long hours, the friends you will make in the program will be friends for life because of the struggles you shared together! if you're interested in the program meet with Prasad Boradkar or Pepe Velasquez!
