Ali responded very quickly on Yelp and provided what seemed like a good price. I realized that buying cabinets myself and hiring Ali to build and install them would cost several thousand less than the other installer was charging to do everything, and I'd have a better kitchen for it. Ali did a great job with our pre-fab cabinets, and he also built us a custom range hood and stained our floating oak shelves to match. He customized several of our cabinets to accommodate our needs, and always provided a fair price upfront for the additional work. He's been doing this a long time and his experience and knowledge were always helpful. It's clear that he enjoys the challenge of finding creative solutions, rather than dismissing them as "too custom." Everything turned out wonderful and we get a lot of compliments on the hood. Ali was the best contractor we worked with during our renovation. He spent a lot time in our home and was always friendly and professional. If I'm nitpicking, occasionally communication was hit or miss. But the same was true and worse for every single other contractor we worked with during the renovation, so this is just par for the course I guess. We always thought we would like to do something "someday" but the someday came sooner than we thought when we had water damage and had to repair quickly. We happened upon Funtime by accident when we drove by the showroom on a day it was closed. The door was unlocked as they were working on something in the back so we got a quick peak and it seriously did look "fun". Having been to several showrooms and met with a few companies that did prefab, semi custom and custom kitchens, we were excited as we felt like we finally found things that were our style but didn't want to get our hopes up before finding out whether it would be in our budget. Went back a few days later and using an initial rendering from an interior designer we decided not to work with (but paid for the rendering) Shawn was able to quickly give us an estimate and we were surprised and excited about how fair their prices were. Custom cabinetry for a price that was lower than some of the prefab (where you get to choose from cabinets that are already made but cannot make them exactly as you wish). No mysterious pulling a number out of the sky, they had software where they input measurements and prices were calculated. All very straight forward. We were on a tight time frame but they were so accommodating. Shawn really worked with us to get someone out to measure quickly and they were all super helpful not just with helping us figure out what we wanted, what worked best for the space but also just navigating the emotions of a huge project like this when you don't know what you want and are stressed. The estimate for the turn around time was reasonable and they were able to install sooner than they had quoted. Had a minor personality conflict with one of the installers (because I am a little bit of a perfectionist and can be intense) but Shawn and his entire team handled everything so professionally and made sure that we were happy. I would strongly recommend them and will definitely work with them again when we redo our master bathroom. Thank you to Tony, Scott and the entire team for all your help. Almost a year has gone by and we LOVE our kitchen more and more each day!
