South portion and the island in lake at left 4/4/2024

We went for a lake walk yesterday 4/4/2024 and it was lovely. I love it in the morning when the lake water looks glassy and birds come out. Highly recommended for a lovely fitness walk. Dogs on leashes only. 1 mile if you circle the lake. Get out there !

Local and easy access, Atascadero Lake Park is a favorite for my family. We've spent many happy hours under the stars listening to free Saturday night summer concerts and have probably put in hundreds of miles walking the well maintained trail around the lake with our dog and friends. I've spotted eagles and hawks and herons along with various water fowl in and on the lake. Many turtles live there too and can be seen sunning themselves on fallen logs in the lake. My grandchildren have played on all the great play structures and picnics are always fun under the giant oaks. We love A town lake park.

Another beautiful evening for a run

Many events and festivals are held in the Atascadero Lake Park. It features a large grassy area with established trees. There are many picnic tables throughout the park with individual BBQ grills, as well as large-group areas that can be rented for parties or events. The children's playground base & equipment area were fully remodeled last year. There is a paddle boat & kayak rental office at the lake, Atascadero Lake Paddleboats. --Fall Hours: Thursday and Friday 2pm to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 6pm. --Rental fees: Adults (15 +) - $10, Children (3-14) - $5, Baby (0-3) - Free. They accept credit cards. The lake park is an excellent place for exercise. The pathway around the lake is just over one mile. There are several built-in fitness stations for exercising other than walking or jogging - such as pull-up bars, sit-ups with or without inclines, etc. You will not be disappointed exercising at this lake while viewing and enjoying the wildlife. There is ample parking in two main lots, as well as in the surrounding areas.

Not only is this park really beautiful but there's always events going on here and it's right next to one of the coolest zoos Charles paddock zoo there's plenty of room to stroll around this park and even better bring your fishing poles for a little bit of light fishing all kinds of different fish are in this lake also I recommend going on the paddle boats for a little while for it it's very fun and relaxing

A nice place for a leisurely stroll, picnic, or bird watching. See ducks, turtles, heron, occasionally an eagle & Osprey will swoop over. Deer off the path near houses & take advantage of the nearby small zoo

Unless you're checking into the Atascadero State Mental Hospital, there isn't much else to do in this town. However the Atascadero Lake Park (and the adjoining Zoo) is a good choice, especially for families. There's a nice playset and a walking path around the lake, if it's cool enough. Large grassy areas to run around in. - Boat rentals on weekend - Waterfowl everywhere - It's hot out here!!

Sweet green after all the rain! We headed for a walk through the park after visiting the zoo next door. We took our almost three year old nephew to carouse around on the swings and generally burn off that burger he ate for lunch. We could keep our cars parked where they were for the zoo, and check out as much of the park as we wanted. Using the playground today, and saving a walk around the lake for our next visit!

Such a lovely community! The lake is super low but the people are super friendly. I'm hooked on this little local loop.

This is a pretty beautiful park - the past three times I've been the water level in the lake has been pretty low, though, which is kinda sad. This is the ideal scene for the stroller striding mommies - A nice 1-mile loop around the lake, a big playground, lots of open green grass, picnic tables, a kid's care center, and the zoo. Little more you could ask for really! I, however, am not a stroller striding mommy, nor a mommy at all. I enjoy coming here with my mommy friend, though, and see the overall appeal. Don't know if I would drive up here otherwise all the way from SLO, but it's a great addition to the neighborhood. Check it out!

We followed the snake rock trail around the east side of the lake and stopped at the southern end where there is an island, the perfect spot for photographing birds, turtles and dragonflies.

Great play structure, lots of room to run in the grassy park area as well. Lots of seating around the structure for parents.

The Templeton Park is a 3.5 acre park a block away from South Main Street. The park looks to be well maintained and clean. It has big canopy shade trees, green lawns, children's play area, swimming pool, gazebo, group picnic areas with Santa Ana bbq grills, and public restrooms. There are paved walking paths. Great for a walk about. I saw lots of folks seizing the moment and enjoying a blissful summer day. The park hosts community events... farmers market on Saturdays 9am-12pm and summer music concerts to name a few.

We knew it was drizzling, but hadn't had a message that the party was called off, so we headed up to Templeton Park to meet up with the rest of the family. At first the park looked empty, then we spied a group gathered in the picturesque gazebo in the center of the park. We parked close and walked over to discover our far flung family gathered for a festive birthday. The gazebo! Of course! Great shelter from the rain and room for at least thirty people to mill around. The kids were lining up for pin the tail on Pikachu as we arrived, then they took turns battering a pinata till the candy cascaded to the cement. As the rain came and went, the kids could run in and out of the shelter while we grownups congregated on folding camp chairs or just stood around chatting. We welcomed the rain and were so happy we got to safely enjoy an outdoor event!
