Awful. I returned a book in good condition. The library then claimed that I hadn't returned it. Several days and multiple phone calls later to sort out the matter, the library then claimed that the book had been found and had water damage. I definitely did not damage the book. This isn't the first time this branch has pulled a scam like this. I'm done with this library. It's cheaper to use a Kindle than to buy a new book for them every few years. read more

I love this library! I go there often to read and do research in a quiet setting. It is clean and the librarians are professional and helpful. I am sad to see that another reviewer was angry about the library having materials that represented diverse viewpoints (or just viewpoints that didn't coincide with their own) I hope they will continue to purchase books that will challenge us and make us think! I really love our library. The building is beautiful, it's always clean, lots of computers for adults and kids. The teen area is cute and I like that it's away from the area for the little ones. It always has activities going on. Plus, lots of DVD's, no late fees, and easy lending from other libraries!! I will also disagree that the staff is subpar. While I've had a few less than personable encounters, most employees are lovely. My one gripe with our library has to do with safety. I'm a firm believer in the library being a resource for everyone and know it can make a huge difference for someone who's fallen on hard times. Unfortunately I've had a few run ins with people who weren't using the library for its resources, or even just as a cool/warm place to spend the day. In the last year I've had someone follow me and my children to the door. I've called non-emergency on a man passed out in the parking lot. And recently when my husband and I visited to drop off a book after hours, there were two men just circling the front of the library by the book return. They disappeared as soon as my husband got out of the car. I'd love if our library could have a security presence like the one where I grew up. read more

This place sucks! It was harder to try to get a library card than to buy my last car ! The lady at the front acts like she is working for the fucking pentagon. Dude libraries are Dying and you are denying people library cards ? WTF? Get a life. Also, the bookstore is literally never open. The volunteers don't feel like working here either I guess. I'll go to the bigger better nicer Paso Robles library, where the bookstore is actually open and people are helpful and not ridiculous. read more

What a nice place! So very clean, easy to access, polite staff, and it's quiet of course. Lot's of public works going on here, from North County offices on the second floor, along with meeting spaces, this is a great public building. Good spots for kids, quiet reading rooms, and plenty of books and things to occupy the mind. What's not to like? read more

Kids and I came here in July looking for books on Independence Day. The only Children's picture books on display(over a dozen) were about "protesting". Clearing pushing an agenda and not a balanced representation of community. Will not return. Hoping Paso has better choices for children. read more

I have been utilizing the SLO Library system to order books to read during these Covid times. I have found the system for locating and ordering to be user friendly for this senior citizen. Once I locate the particular book, you can easily click on request and have it sent to your local library. You can even return easily to your search results! I am loving this whole arrangement! I called today with some questions. The nicest lady answered and provided me with answers. She even walked over to the books being held to check. I could see her smile through the phone because of her friendly and so pleasant voice. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. I just want to send a huge "Thank you" for the employees there for providing me with lots of books to read during these trying times. Bless you all and wishes for a very Happy Holidays! read more

We love this library, especially the children's section! The children's librarians have always been fantastic here. The selection of diverse and inclusive books is amazing and the librarians are always open to suggestions for new books. I love that they keep their displays fresh and reflective of current events so I can always find books that help my kids understand what's going on in our world. We love this library! They offer so many fun activities for every age. There are computers for kids, teens and adults. Books, games and movies for any taste. The summer activities are great and there is an amazing assortment so there is always something to do. It's air conditioned with free wifi. There is a play area for the small kids and a special spot for the teens to hang out. read more

Staff has always been over-and-above helpful and friendly. They have a dedicated teen area, children's and summer programs. My kids have mostly outgrown these activities but they have included lego building, animal programs, movies, magicians, crafts, and teddy-bear teas during the holidays. I also love that they are part of the blackgold system so you can place holds from as far south as Montecito to Paso libraries. Holds are now free. Only downside is as someone else said, a matter of safety. I have felt unsafe at the book return at night and several times they had (probably) homeless people who were loud and angry in the library to the point where I did not want my 12-year-old to be there by himself. This seems to have improved but I gather from the news is a general problem with the neighborhood at times. read more

Our little Library is Fantastic! The great work the friends of the Library did to get the Library opened in the new location is wonderful. The selection if books and tape is great for a small town library and seems to get better every year. We really like to books on tape selections.
