When glass shattered in my dominant hand, I severed connective tissue, blood vessels, and a nerve. The ER referred me to AOC, and I went without thinking. I wish I had shopped around. Treatment was straightforward: I would have outpatient surgery and occupational therapy. The surgery didn't work out as well as hoped. I still can't move or feel my thumb. The occupational therapy helped me learn how to write again. It was the records and billing process that really made me never want to work with them again. $30000 is a lot of money for me, especially for an unexpected and unsuccessful surgery. There were multiple instances that added insult. 1. Being forced to pay 250+ dollars per visit because insurance was billed incorrectly over and over. 2. Having my information stolen and no protections given. 3. Someone in billing failing to find and/or consolidate all of my charges AND THEN turning me over to collections for a stray $180. Had I known I owed that, I would have paid it. It was never, ever on any bill mailed to me. read more

would never recommend.. doctors & front office staff defer to PA's- IF you can get a response. horrible billing & will not inform you if insurance is out of network until AFTER the expensive tests are completed. At walk in clinic - goal to see provider regarding neck pain and loss of motion / strength in arm. I was told that provider would not see me unless cervical spine X-rays done elsewhere 48 hours earlier were repeated. A radiology tech prevented me from being seen/evaluated by provided. Would love to tell you about my experience at AOC, but unfortunately, I could not make an appointment. When I called I had a referral from my doctor and I have TRICARE, which is military care. I'm a veteran Brooke, who I finally got to scheduling for 17 minutes on hold did not know how to run TRICARE to see if I was eligible to even come to to office for my referral. I have a referral to Dr. Prince or Dr. Talley, but apparently their staff does not know how to run TRICARE or referrals so if your military, I hope you've had a good experience and if you're not go somewhere else. read more

My experience with Athens orthopedic has been anything but great, from having to reschedule every appointment made, to miss diagnosing my knee injury and the very unenthusiastic staff. I would highly recommend finding someone else to go to as you will be very disappointed in the quality of care and their attentiveness to your needs! read more

My review is the same as some others I see. I loved my Doctor who did a knee replacement for me. But when I started having problems with the knee I was told I could not get an appointment with him. I was told I had a no show fee of a hundred and twenty five dollars. I managed to get a 100 of it paid in small installments before I got so sick that I couldn't move but by then I had full-blown staff infection and had to go to a hospital in order to finally see the Doctor. Which resulted in three more surgeries and a year of infusions for staff infection. In my mind the billing department is responsible for that. There was a mix up about my appointment. As they have like 3 other affiliates there in town. I did show up for the day of my appointment. It was told I didn't have one. Their billing department nearly killed me. Because I didn't have cash to pay for a visit that I never made. I confronted her when it was all over. And she called me and I told her. I should Sue her for nearly killing me. I wish I could remember her name. I haven't heard from her since. Needless to say I will never have another surgery like that. I had planned on having both knees done. Now the other knee is a mess but I will die with the pain.. I believe my Doctor was a truly caring Doctor But someone needs to really focus on the billing department! read more

Amazing urgent care!!! I highly recommend going here! I have four orthopedic doctors I see here, who are all amazing and have helped me through the most hardest time in my life. I injured my hip badly back in July 2021, Dr. Waldron and Dr. Register both are wonderful, caring, reassuring and understanding. I was 21 years-old and badly injured my hip, they both helped me feel relax and I trusted them. I have bad experience with some doctors due to chronic health problems and the doctors here are wonderful and I always feel I can trust them. I unfortunately ended up needing hip surgery, after just turning 22 and that was the hardest and scariest scary of my life. Dr. Register was wonderful, he talked me through what was going to happen during and after the surgery multiple times with me to make sure I understood it. I still see Dr. Register for my hip, along with David Wright for my ankle. Dr Katz did my trigger finger surgery and he was wonderful with keeping me calm and relaxed before and during the surgery. read more

My boyfriend broke his hand and scheduled an appointment over the phone. We drove an hour out to the clinic just to be told that the appointment was cancelled a few hours ago. They claimed they called him but never did. They didn't even give him the option to reschedule. They just told him "we ain't got no hand doctor" and told my boyfriend to go to an urgent care. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They couldn't even schedule an appointment correctly. read more

The staff here are frustratingly unresponsive, ineffective, and seem to have lost their desire to help patients. Rx's are particularly poorly managed, you must physically visit the office to pick up hand written Rx's. (Yes - its like a time warp back to the 1960's!!) Some warped idea of PT for orthopedic patients struggling to ambulate? And feel lucky if they bother to even write the Rx you have been instructed to pick up. Leave at least 30 min to stand in line while they try to figure out where the Rx is. Also, check your pain med Rx's before you leave, our pre-surgical Rx was written short a day. Staff won't return calls. Office / urgent care clinic doesn't really open at 7AM as claimed, expect busy signals and VM until at least 8:30 AM. And feel lucky if you get a return call - they don't seem to bother with those. Surgeon apparently struggling with social skills, robotic and formulaic. Definitely not reassuring!! It really would be helpful if they at least did a better job pretending to like their patients. Is the whole place just absolutely wrecked with Covid burn-out? read more

I was referred to Dr. William Tally at Athens Orthopedic Clinic for treatment of a persistent pain in my right hip and lower back. First some background: I moved to Athens Georgia last year from Texas to be near my daughter and her family. For several years I have been treated for pain in my right hip area including surgery and many hydrocortisone injections. Being divorced and alone I considered moving to Athens but hated giving up my pain doctor who I had been a patient of for several years. He took care of my hesitation by passing away. There were other doctors in his practice but I didn't know any of them so I went ahead and moved to Athens. I managed to hold off looking for a pain doctor although the high humidity of Athens vice South Texas caused a lot of pain. Recently I got a referral to Athens Orthopedic Clinic and ended up getting an injection today. I asked about the procedure and was somewhat concerned that this doctor doesn't use anesthesia prior to the main injection. All the other injections I have ever had did use anesthesia prior to the main injection. I asked why they didn't use it and got a somewhat "smartass" answer about why they didn't use it: something to the effect of it being a wimpy unnecessary procedure that can "rot your spine". Being doubtful I still went along with their not using the anesthesia. BIG MISTAKE! I have never had such a painful injection in my life. I estimate that I have had at least a hundred such procedures in my lifetime and nothing felt like this one. I felt like I was being STABBED. I cried out "STOP" several times and they ignored me and continued with the shot. When it was over I could hardly walk. It remains to be seen how much good this procedure will be toward reducing my spinal pain. All I can say is it better be a lot of improvement to make up for what I had to go through to get it. I recommend that you interrogate this doctor and staff before you let them touch you with a needle. Make sure you know what you are getting into first. Very convenient that they're open 7days a week, therefore we drove here on a Sunday from two hours away for a MRI that was not done. How can you give a patient a full and accurate diagnosis without a MRI? How can you know they extent of injury? The doctor was still on vacation and we saw a PA, whom which without a MRI convinced my family surgery was needed, who then persuaded us to sign a non contractual consent for surgery to expedite the process once the MD did In fact return. We were promised to get a call from the MD to discuss surgery the following day. We received no call the next day (Monday), but on the following Tuesday morning at 9:00am we received a call stating we've been put on the surgery schedule for 2pm that day! No warning what so ever, and we haven't even met the doctor that will be operating on my sister. What in Gods name does this place have going on? They don't take surgery serious, nor their patients. The staff doesn't seem to be motivated to help. Your pretty much on your own when you walk in so please bring a friend or family for help. I saw a girl come in alone on crutches and none of the staff held a door, offered her a wheelchair nor help to her car. It's my personal preference but when you go get help you should feel taken care of from the time you go into the back until the time you leave. If you noticed a patient alone you guys should've displayed more compassion. I strongly urge you to look other places for care as i can not attest to the MD's ability's but if this experience is any sign of it, run!! They really wanted to do surgery without presenting a MRI nor the person doing the surgery really? Do BETTER!!! read more

I went to the urgent care because 3years ago i was xrayed by a chiropractor who is great, and found i had allot of shifting in my back and also a full split in my pelvis and it has progressively gotten worse and now is locking up and i am unable to walk some days, this day particularly my pain was horrible and it was even hurting to breath, I'm only 24 with an 11 month old i can't afford not to walk!!! So i told them my issues once they took me back and i stated my neck/back/and pelvis are in serious pain (worse than back labor when having my baby) and i needed to find out what's wrong , well they only xrayed my back and neck and when i got in the room the PA was super rude, asked me what's wrong and then cut me off every sentence , told me she didn't see anything wrong it just "sounded like you're hurting all over" is what she said and that i just need physical therapy , i can't get out of bed due to something locking up some days how is stretching going to help a possible fractured bone .... then continued on to tell me she doesn't know what my chiropractor is talking about that she sees nothing wrong with my X-rays so i reminded her she never xrayed the most hurtful place of all , so will NOT be ever returning and i hate that because I've always dealt with athens ortho read more
