This was my second not-so-great experience here. While I wasn't impressed, I thought maybe she was just having a rough day and I can completely understand that. However, this second time I brought my cat in, for a much more serious reason, the vet all but refused to help my cat because of his temperament. I understand that a fractious cat can be extremely dangerous and difficult to handle, but I was desperate for help. From the moment I walked in, the vibe of the place was just ... bad. The vet tech was disinterested to say the least, and when the veterinarian walked in the room, the first thing she said was, "This guy has a track record with us, and doesn't seem [any better] today." I'm not really sure what she was referring to, but yes, he's extremely frightened at the vet and doesn't like being poked and prodded. From the guarded way she walked into the room and her attitude towards me, I knew I was talking to someone who had a wall up, and wasn't willing to help me or my cat. However, I still asked if they could give him an injectable anti-nausea med, as well as an injectable antibiotic, feeling very uncomfortable, at this point, at the thought of letting them even touch my cat to be honest. She gave me the reasons why they couldn't. She also stated that his liver values don't look good, and that if I can't get meds into him, and he won't eat, things aren't going to get better. Given that two vets near the Columbus area who performed much more extensive tests told me that his liver values could be consistent with a treatable infection/inflammation process with a potentially promising prognosis, her statement came across as dismissive and uncaring. Note: I would have gone back to one of these vets on that day, but I was ill, it was the Friday before Labor Day weekend, and it would have been an hour and a half drive. In addition, she said, "What's your end goal here?," to which I replied, "My end goal is to treat his nausea and to get him to eat again." (the antibiotics he had already been given caused some nausea). After that last comment, I determined that they weren't able to help. As I was leaving, the vet said, "Have a great day!"

Look, all pet stores get their puppies from puppy mills, it really is that simple. Petland is a pet store, so their puppies come from puppy mills. That means their parents are kept in utter squalor, and are shot when they can't produce any more puppies. If that doesn't bother you, (hey some people are soulless!) the risk of adopting a puppy that has had no socialization, could have infections do to filthy conditions, and potential health issues do to improper breeding SHOULD terrify you. Also, these dogs are outrageously priced. A healthy dog from a reputable breeder can cost less than half the price of a Petland dog. You are just paying double for the ability to conveniently bundle a puppy home at first site, that day. Is it worth it? UMMMM NO!

We adopted our dog from ASPCA recovery center and she had quite a few behavioral issues. She was…read morenippy, barking and jumping a lot which actually scared me since we have little kids. After working with Alex, we realized that her biggest issue was that she was "over-excited". Alex recommended her to be on anxiety medication which we found was VERY helpful and needed. He also explained to us how to monitor her levels of excitement by using commands and waiting for her to calm down before she became jumpy, nippy and barking. We also realized that we needed to use a muzzle when new people came in and around our 2 year old to make sure she's not nippy with them. All this and the commands gave us huge relief. We had 4 sessions with Alex and have had her for 3 months and we feel so much better. We definitely recommend Alex. He knows what he's doing and he's so kind with the dogs.

I want to give a shout out especially to Dr. Maimone, who is the primary caregiver for our beloved Lab "Dixie" aka "Dixiecup". A little history, Dixie is an American Black Lab who turned 9 this past summer. She is a 9 year old puppy! She's got a spice for life and having fun like no other dog I've ever owned, and she is absolutely the sweetest dog you could ever meet. In October 2022 she got dealt a raw hand, and she was diagnosed with grade two, Subcutaneous MAST Cell Tumor Disease (which is an aggressive form of doggie cancer). Dr. Maimone was the one who performed the surgery to remove some tumors that showed up and had them tested. Dixie had an incision that was about 20 inches long due to multiple tumors being found and removed. Our options were limited, we could do chemo or radiation at the tune of $35-45,000. With no guarantee of success. So we made the decision to keep Dixie as comfortable as possible with palliative care, and once it started to affect her quality of life then we would have to make that dreaded choice to let her go. Dixie was given a prognosis of 3-6 months life span with this disease. We were absolutely heartbroken. Dr. Maimone explained that the MAST Cell is a histamine releasing cell, and that Dixies body was over reacting to said histamine, which was causing the tumors to form. She recommended that we try a benedryl and steroid regimin to try and counteract the histamines being released. We agreed to this treatment to try and give Dixie the comfort she deserved, and to be able to enjoy the time she had left with us. At three months we went in for a checkup and Dr. Maimone said she was pleased with Dixies condition. 6 months came, and Dr. Maimone said she was no longer seeing any progression of the cancer. Then at 9 months, Dr. Maimone said "I think her cancer is in remission". At 1 year, Dr Maimone did another checkup with complete blood work etc, and told that Dixie now had a clean bill of health, and that there werr no signs of her cancer whatsoever! Today, at 15 months, Dixie was out back chasing squirrels and playing with her ball like nothing was ever wrong with her. I cannot thank Dr. Maimone enough for her care and love of animals, especially Dixie. By her hunch on the treatment plan, she has truly given Dixie a miracle. And we are truly thankful and humbled by her genuine care. Thank you again Dr. Maimone! Because of you, Dixie bear the odds and KICKED CANCERS ASS! We are forever in your debt.

Dr. Hurst is amazing in the care she provides and follow-up services. When my geriatric pup had to be euthanized due to spleen failure, she was so empathetic and sympathetic. She provided a book I could borrow to share a beautiful story with my younger son that helped him with the tragic loss. More recently, I had rescued a dog from the county shelter that tested positive for intestinal worms. Dr. Hurst was fantastic as she provided the necessary care and continued follow-up until the dog was "free and clear". She even called after each testing herself (unfortunately the first round didn't clear him up) to discuss directly with me. She also made suggestions on items like probiotics and other helpful things I often keep large-xlarge dogs and knowing Dr. Hurst has equine experience, also gives additional help with the bigger pups and the varying care they need vs the smaller dogs. I had a cat years ago and received equally wonderful care. The staff is also super nice and always helpful. I often suggest this vet to those in my area looking for a vet for their pets. Great practice. The sister practice is also wonderful and it's really nice knowing you have a vet on call always between the two for emergencies.
