I agreed on this contact a total maximum amount I would pay out of pocket, I kept records of my payments made from my debit card. Applied payments to each appointment, I also had to keep track of appointments not to exceed the amount I was liable for. They kept making appointments past the date I would meet my maximum. I think this was done to make it to where I would be liable for more then I agreed to pay. Well like I told them my insurance did not cover injections to my knees, all through this process I made them aware that my insurance does not cover the injections, they kept saying it would all work out. After all my appointments, physicial therapy, injections and weight loss consults. Cevene pain management kept billing my insurance for the injections, this was back in 2022 it's now 2026 and they continue to bill my insurance. This place is resentless. In my opinion they are shady and just want to milk your insurance then you for services that should not have been done. If I knew then what I know now I would not have gone through with any treatment. I now can't even get the billing department to return my calls. RUN FROM THIS FACILITY.

Things escalated to the point of incontinence, which should probably have been a clue that this is not a minor issue. During imaging, I was asked to position myself in a way that triggered one of the worst spasms I've ever experienced. I reacted involuntarily in pain and began crying. I was already in significant physical pain, and in that moment, I became emotionally overwhelmed. Without missing a beat, one of the x-ray techs in the room said, "that's how we know you're not faking it." I must have missed the marketing for this place, but here is my hot take: at ORTHOILLINOIS Spine Center in Rockford, we don't take your word for it--we make you prove it. Seriously, if your goal is compassionate care, or even basic awareness that pain responses don't need validation through suffering, you may want to look elsewhere. Empathy is NOT part of the intake process here. I have yet to be seen by the physician in charge--only the nurse practitioner (Kelsey). At this point, I'm less concerned with bedside manner (as I'm confident, it'll never get better) and more concerned that severe neurological and spinal symptoms are being treated like a checkbox exercise. No real diagnosis, just a steady stream of "come back in a few weeks" so they can run your insurance again and get paid. I don't know where they all went to medical school (I should look it up and send them this), but their alma maters should be embarrassed--and someone should remind them what the Hippocratic Oath is supposed to mean. Perhaps insurance companies should also take a closer look at where their payments are going. If your primary care physician sends you here, BEG THEM TO RECONSIDER.

Despite this, he only assessed one small area of my spine, completely ignoring the rest of my symptoms. It was careless and frankly ridiculous. He showed no curiosity, no compassion, and no urgency. I had to ask him to review my MRI with me -- something that should have been done automatically. He dismissed the radiology report outright, claimed there was "nothing wrong," and insisted there was "no nerve root compression," even though the report said otherwise. He then ordered X-rays for some reason, despite already having my MRI in hand. There was no neurological or muscular testing, no treatment plan offered, no discussion of medications, and zero guidance about what I should do next. I had to make suggestions myself, which he scoffed at. He didn't listen, didn't help, and clearly didn't care. I left that appointment with no answers, no support, and no hope.
