My wife described her pain, and Dr. Samalio noted that the particular nerve that controls sensation in the stomach was located in a certain vertebrae. He proceeded to treat my wife's back. Within thirty minutes, the pain had subsided completely. Not only does Dr. Samalio treat for pain and discomfort, he also teaches his patients exercises that they can do at home to reduce pain and stiffness. I found them on Zocdoc and they had good availability. Dr. Donahue was very professional, funny, and got to the bottom of things quickly. I felt so much better after his assessment and treatment. I also really appreciate that after you see the chiropractor, they bring you to one of the physical therapists to get stretches and exercises to help you deal with (and hopefully prevent) the issues from coming back. Katherine at the front desk is perhaps the friendliest office manager I've ever met. She always has a big smile and is so empathetic to every patient. At first, I was afraid they'd be way too expensive, and went to the hospital's own PT clinic, which didn't help my neck problem at all. I contacted Sports and Ortho in Evanston, and once I learned that my insurance did cover PT sessions with them, I started right away and am very glad I did. Two, three months ago, I couldn't walk because the gravity of my arm caused great neck pain, and I had to sleep upright on our recliner couch. Now I'm almost completely symptom free. They do a lot of manual work here, meaning that the PT works on you with their hands. I won't call it a deep tissue massage, but to a novice it might look/feel similar. After the manual work is done, one of their techs guides you through appropriate exercises, which you do at the clinic. After a certain period of time, they'll add more exercises and also give you some to do at home.
