Dr. Mark J. Schneider (DO, Atlanta, FACC) Mark and his AHS office are my newly appointed 'Guardian Angels'. Mark ran a complete blood test to check my well being and uncovered a serious glucose condition! He started me on the appropriate treatment and referred me to an Endocrinologist. The ONLY part of this TUCKER practice that is kind, informative and good at their job, are the technicians who run the tests with the patients. The front desk and medical staff is less than friendly and accommodating. They seem they are just there to earn a living and go home. The Tucker facility is awful. This practice is not only incompetent, but apathetic. My husband has left 5 messages since 12/4, asking for a call back regarding the new medication they put him on, which has increased his BP. No one has called back. His BP is 170/100 today. The person who answered the phone today said the on-call physician would call. They didn't. read more

2024 UPDATE- I still stand by my 1 star review: My doctor (electrophysiologist from Piedmont Heart Institute) just congratulated me on my 7 year anniversary without a pacemaker! The one I never needed to begin with! So grateful to have found this doctor at Piedmont Heart Institute and so glad I fired the old one from Atlanta Heart Specialists! ("Dr" Alikhani and "Dr" Torres.) Edited to add: not only did I not need the pacemaker but when he put it in the leads they were put in the wrong place and the day after it was removed I got a letter from Boston Scientific saying it was being recalled. All my doctor should have done was taken me off the blood pressure meds because I had lost the 40lbs he told me to and I no longer needed the BP meds. And yes, I am still angry! ********* 2017 review below******** Dr Alikhani and his associate told me I needed a pacemaker. Unfortunately I didn't seek a 3rd Opinion and has the surgery only to feel horrible. He prescribed medication that made me feel worse. He refused to adjust pacemaker. My blood pressure got very low and I was lightheaded all the time. I had pacemaker syndrome and he refused to treat it. I fired him and his associate and found a wonderful electrophysiologist and cardiologist, both of whom said they would NEVER have reccommended me for a pacemaker. I was taking a medication that was making my heart rate low. Once that medication was stopped my heart rate went back to normal. Had they stopped that medication that they prescribed I never would have had the pacemaker implanted. Run to a different practice! read more

This practice is horrible. My family members have had success here, but I have not. This is my second time giving this office a chance. Two years ago I attempted to see Dr. Chandra, paid thousands in imaging, tests, etc. only to have suffered with chest pain for two more years without any diagnosis. I returned to see Dr. Schneider last week for a new problem on top of the chest pain. I was scheduled for a repeat echo which was performed almost 2 hours late (without informing me - I had to ask; no apology for wasting my time, and no instructions - everyone there was just as clueless as the next person). While waiting, 3 of 4 patients presented with complaints. An elderly gentleman was spoken to so dispargingly when it was clear they were wrong! When the test finally began, the technician named Ashley wiped her nose the entire procedure and pushed my shoulder down instead of just asking me to lay back to complete the exam!!! I was told a manager would in touch with me about my experience, but of course no one has reached out. I have called only to receive every voicemail at this practice - for literal hours. I will get my records and move on. Please take the negative reviews seriously. I have no idea how my family members have had good experiences here - maybe because they are longtime patients, but if you are newly in need of a cardiologist, look elsewhere. read more

I went to get 3 test done and they bill only 2 and told me other one not covered without sending claim to my insurance company. I would not go back again. For my result of the test I have to pay 40 dollar co pay to find out about my test. I have been Dr. Alikhani's patient or about 2 years now. He is excellent!!! I felt comfortable with him at my initial visit and our doctor-patient relationship continues to be excellent; just as he is as my physician. He does not know anything about my background, education, etc., however, he is always warm, smiling (as I am), explains & talks with me as a patient and he is the physician. I have asked "too many" questions since childhood; he is patient and responds to them. The staff seems to always be quite busy; however, I do not have any complaints about them. If I have to call back re anything I understand that they are interacting with a lot of people. I do have to wait when I arrive for my appointment, but that is not unusual in any business, so that is understandable. My wait time has never been excessive. Someone once said, "You can tell a good doctor by the number of people waiting in the office." I do know that when I extend a nice, warm greeting, a positive attitude, and very good communication, it helps my relationship with anyone. If not, and I continue to be dissatisfied with anything I can take my business elsewhere. read more

If you are looking for good a cardiology practice, DO NOT go to the Altlanta Heart Specialist Dekalb office. Although the staff is always friendly and pleasant, they can care less about your welfare. They drop the ball on important healthcare matters and are either slow to respond to messages or do not respond at all. I gave them 2 stars for their in-office friendliness. Doctors and staff move like a well-oiled machine, Everybody is young and energetic! Dr. Polkampally was quite thorough in his exam and thoroughly explained my ekg and what would happen with subsequent tests. The nurses were fantastic as well! The office has clear seating guides that observe the covid problem, there was hand sanitizer wherever you looked and God Love 'em. Everybody wears masks throughout the day. So every time I get here it is a time suck..... this time THEY rescheduled my doctors appointment to a different day, at a different time.... so after changing MY schedule I make it work and come to my 11 o'clock appointment.... (that they set)...it is now noon and I still have not seen anyone.... if they really cared about your heart, they would make sure your blood pressure doesn't rise with every visit..... I have a literally seen people come and go who came in after me........ maybe time to file a complaint with the board? They do not care about you, they only care about the money obviously.... Update, they finally got me in here after an hour and 10 minutes... I have never been to this location before. This is a complaint regarding TaKera the person who called to confirm my appointment. Wednesday I was scheduled for some test she called to inform me that the machine was down so my appointment had to be rescheduled. I explained to her that I was a wreck waiting for Wednesday to come to take the test and now I had to wait another day. She stated the machine would be up by Wednesday afternoon. I was trying to explain to her if she could get me in on Wednesday afternoon when the machine was up I would really appreciate it. Every time I tried to speak she kept cutting me off. I had to tell her that every time I wanted to say something she cut me off. She hung up on me. I tried to call back but it went to the answering service. You did not offer an once of compassion to the fact that I was nervous about having to wait for a test. I understand the machine broke and that is not your fault, but your customer service and inability to empathize with someone's situation you're in the wrong field young lady. I should have never hung up that phone feeling the way I felt. You should have ended that phone call like this. Ms.______ I understand that your nervous about the upcoming test and I am sorry that the machine is broken. Besides the nervousness that your experiencing right now are you feeling ill? I assure you, you will be fine. if you should experience any discomfort please go to the nearest hospital or call 911. Do you have any question for me at this time? I went to Atlanta Heart Specialists on Aug. 10 and Aug.12 where I saw Dr.Song and Dr.Chandra. I was very upset with my previous Doctor and my blood pressure was off the charts. They tried to do several tests but it was clear that the people doing the tests did not know how to do the tests, they had to stop and get help 6 or 8 times. I am convinced that the tests were flawed because I was so upset and the people doing the test did not know what they were doing. Then after telling the Doctors I could not take Ace Inhibitors or water pills guess what they prescribed for me? Ace inhibitors and water pills! These people cannot be trusted! read more

I changed from another well known cardiology group to Atlanta Heart Specialists in April, 2018 and it continues to be the best decision that I could have made. Dr. Yan, Dr. Alikhani, Dr. Ahmed as well as the others that I have had dealings with have been consummate professionals. Where I felt that my previous providers were keeping me alive, I believe that the professionals at Atlanta Heart Specialists are more focused on improving my quality of life while getting me stronger. You may not have heard of them before reading this but you will find that there is not a better cardiology group around and take it from someone who has been through quite a few heart issues over the past 10 years, my only regret is not finding them sooner. read more

I am extremely disappointed in the follow-up care I received from this practice. I woke up dizzy, and dehydrated and fell to my knees. I called the office and was only able to leave a voicemail; no option to talk to a live person. I left a message that described my condition and told them it was urgent to contact me right away. I followed up with an e-Mail with same request. After two hours with no response, repeated the same voice Mail message and e-Mail. At 6 pm, I called the Dr on call and described my condition and was assured I would receive a call from my cardiologist this morning. I called again at 11 am this morning and had to leave another voice Mail and no one has called me back after 24 hours of telling them I was in distress and needed urgent attention. I could have died and no one at this practice would care. Avoid this practice if you would like to live! read more

I would avoid this place! Dr. Yan has to be the least competent doctor she heard her patients like cattle. The staff have even mentioned how horrible she is to them. She is rude, condescending, narcissistic and a complete nightmare I was with my wife each time she had an appointment and I was there first hand. My wife has renal disease stage 4 and has been told by her nephrologist not to take lisinopril ever. We conveyed that to Dr. Yan and guess what!? She prescribed lisinopril for my wife! I saw Dr. Bhuiyan who gave me an ultrasound telling me there was an issue and sent me off to Tucker, GA to get a CT scan. It has been one month, I have called nearly a dozen times, and I have not received a single result or call back. I am livid. Yelp does not want you to see this information. My husband had triple heart bypass surgery on 11/11/13 and I accompanied him to see his doctor at AHS on 11/26/13. The doctor seemed capable enough, but the practice appears to be in a financial bind. They conducted a nuclear stress test on 11/4/13 and they insisted on payment for the procedure ($1043) IMMEDIATELY...like they would not either of us leave the building without payment! We had not even received a bill in the mail yet! Had it not been for my credit card, I believe we would have been chained up in their basement. There are many heart specialists in Atlanta, but I don't think these will be in business much longer since they cannot even wait 30 days to get paid. I've been a long time patient of Dr. Singh's. When I first started going to the practice, the staff was amazing. Very good bedside manner with the medical assistants, and much better professionalism overall. Over the years that has declined significantly. Dr. Singh's bedside manner is ok. I've been to worse doctors, as well as, one's with better bedside manner. He is often rushed through appointments, so you don't really feel like a priority by any means. Also, a simple office visit for the few minutes you get with the doctor are over $200. You do get testing done, which provides a piece of mind, but it is also $$$. Like I've said, I've had worse, I've had better, but the practice overall is ok, hence the 3 stars. read more

I see Dr. Yan at AHS. I am very pleased with my experiences at AHS. The office staff are very pleasant and efficient. I have never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for my appointment. Dr. Yan spends a great deal of time with me and makes sure all of my questions are answered. The testing staff are very nice and get you through your tests as fast as possible. I would also like to say that they are very understanding and cooperative when dealing with financial issues. I have been going to AHS for about 5 years and will continue to do so. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. David Suh for many years. He is a Dysautonomia specialist, which is a fairly rare cardoneurological issue that involves the autonomic nervous system. A few years into my care, I developed autoimmune pancreatitis while out of town and was medically transported from a hospital there to Northside Forsyth where I spent the next 24 days. During that time, I was checked on by whichever doctor from AHS was on call, and without fail, they were great. They networked with the other specialists (gastrointerologists, nephrologists, hematologists, etc.) to make sure I continued to get better, they communicated with one another so that they were always prepared for the unique cardiology problems Dysautonomia presents, and they were kind. Needless to say, I've stayed their patient. read more

Dr. Bakhtiar Ali should be avoided at all cost. My wife had an appt with him before he was supposed to do a procedure. I was there in the office with her during the entire visit. *He wrote up an entirely fake exam and placed it in her records.* He was very condescending and stated that "he's the only doctor that can perform this procedure." he didn't touch her except to shake her hand - I was there and witnessed every moment of interaction, yet wrote up this long exam as if he'd examined her, including listening to her lungs and palpating her neck. He stated in the written records that he advised her to change her diet (never even came up) and lose weight (her BMI is fine). He never said either of those things. Actual eyewitness schedule of events: 1) he enters the room, shakes her hand 2) questions why she's there (wanted to meet him and make sure special accommodations were in place for some issues) 3) takes a personal phone call, leaves the room 4) lets her ask her questions, making eye contact once and dismissing all of her concerns, brags about his skill level, and denies that special accommodations will be heeded 5) leaves with no actual physical exam or counseling about anything We found out because their computer system automatically submitted to her primary care doctor's portal, who then commented to us about the very thorough exam this doctor did. He then submitted charges to our insurance for an EKG he didn't perform. I filed official complaints due to insurance fraud. They had yelp remove my first review not because it was incorrect, but because it "relied on secondhand information" - which I have corrected the wording. I was there with her for every visit and by her side at *all* times. read more

We have used the Tucker facility for about 4 years. My wife and I recently had our annual check-up. Dr. Dorsey is great. He has a really good bedside manner. Parking and scheduling are easy and billing is a breeze. We have nothing but good things to say about this place. read more

There are so few doctors I would say have my complete trust, but, she does.
