I had heard about this event from the earlier event locations - this is a "pop-up" style market…read morethat moves around Atlanta, typically over a holiday weekend. On this occasion, it was the Memorial Day weekend on 2018.10.5 - 2018.10.07 and the market took place at the North Point Mall at 1000 North Point Cir, Alpharetta, GA 30022, along the side facing the JC Penny's anchor store. This is an outdoor vendor-oriented market featuring imported goods and a huge assortment of food. In Asia markets like these are done at night to escape the heat of the day - typically they go on pretty much all night but of course this US market is a bit more pragmatic. I met a friend after work on the first night (Friday) right when it opened, about 5:00 PM. The market was just getting started so some of the food vendors weren't quite ready and some tents were unoccupied, but this was remedied by the time we left. Admission was $10 but could have been less if we'd bought online prior to the event day - we decided to just pay at the gate. Oh and most of these vendors were cash only so keep that in mind - there are several ATMs but you get to pay those fees. I'd say that the "International" aspect was very well represented by a super diverse assortment of vendors and a crowd to to match. There were the typical saree and handbag sellers plus one booth that had leather jackets. I saw many, many different ethnic groups from all over the world - lots of fun to be had. There's also a stage with music that continued for most of the night with some live local acts and a DJ spinning a broad-time-spanning assortment of well-mixed dance music. But of course the real reason I attended was to sample the food. The food ranged from near-local to far reaching Asian - there were at least two different Lao vendors, Snackboxe Bistro and a Thai/Viet/Lao vendor that served Pad Thai, Papaya Salad and skewers of meat. There were also several Indian vendors including the nearby Dekkan Spice (very good) so a good mix of local restaurants, caterers and food trucks. I saw a couple of Halal places including a whole BBQ goat. We settled on a mix of Thai and Island cuisines, the latter being a veggie and noodle stirfry with teriyaki chicken. I thought both were quite good and less than $10. The Hawaiian rotisserie looked amazing but wasn't quite ready or I def would have gotten the pork ribs or turkey leg. There was also a vegan section with many restaurants within if what I described above scared you. I think there was plenty to sample something unusual and come away full. There were many drink vendors selling lassies and other cold drinks including many fruity drinks. I only saw one beer vendor but it was large and well placed sith several local craft brews - I ended up with a Creature Comforts Tropicalia IPA but also say a Three Taverns sour and a Steady Hand Farmhouse Ale (Saisson) as options. Overall I liked the event but coudn't stay much more than the hour or so (commitments elsewhere) but did have fun while there. The people serving were really nice and accommodating and good about answering questions. It was starting to get crowded so that was my queue to get out anyway - I don't deal with the jostle of the crowds - when my beer gets bumped it's time to leave!

Careful, it gets VERY hot on a June day in Atlanta. I recommend coming in the morning if you're afraid of it getting super hot. My friends and I had tents selling crafts here and it can get miserable so make sure you bring lots of water. This festival had crafts on the far right end of the street with soaps, art, carvings, and all kinds of things. THere are some local businesses of course handing out info and free giveaways such as chiropractic, roof cleaning, and other services. I thought the free food giveaways were a bomb. There was a local peach stand which was awesome, free bags of local organic quinoa chips, and other fun give aways. The local P'tree corners stand will hand out tote bags, I love P'tree corner banners,and free hand paddle fans which you definitely need. There is a giant guy about 7'2 walking around in a peach costume and another guy on stilts as a tree so make sure you see those two. There is live music and I honestly thought for a small festival, the entertainment was VERY good. GOod voices and very good talent. Definitely worth listening to and crucial to keeping everyone happy in such a warm day. Check out the stands that have hot dogs and funnel cakes! There are portable bathrooms at the end and there are cars at the end with some fancy car show going on for car enthusiasts!

FESTIVAL TIME, (Peachtree Corners)…read more I attended this festival a couple of years ago with my family and we all had a very nice time. The parking is great and there are shuttle carts that take you from your car to the venue or you can easily walk. It was a hot day and we were lucky enough to have the mayor as our driver. The festival is great for families because they have activities for everyone. The little ones will love the bounce house, face painting and other activities, everyone will enjoy wandering from table to table checking out the arts and crafts and who doesn't LOVE classic cars! It is just the perfect opportunity to get out, listen to live music, get some fresh air and just meet people. This year the festival will be marked by a pre-festival concert on Friday night, (June 12th) and the actual festival begins on Sat at 10am and continues until Sunday evening. Clear your calendar and save the date!

Many things to buy crafts, jewelry, pots & pans, cheese cutting boards, baskets, paintings and more. There is a kid's inflatable area and petting zoo. Sooo much happening at this festival close to home with that fall vibe, was a perfect activity for me. It is always held the last Saturday and Sunday of September. I got to go back this year after a longgg time and was kind of surprised in how it turned more into a food festival, there was literally a whole strip just dedicated to food vendors. There was such a wide variety of foods from all sorts of different authentic cuisines to snacks and homemade treats for on the go! We ended up getting a frozen pink lemonade, elotes and the impossible gyoza. One of the stalls did sell fresh apple cider donuts and I would definitely recommend getting them if you go! Overall such a good time and experience with your friends and family! You can easily spend a couple hours here and they have a mini pumpkin patch, face painting, live music you name it! There were delicious foods and booths that recognized Korean small businesses and restaurants in the city. We got the lamb kebab and cotton candy for our kids and they both were enjoyed though we felt the cotton candy priced at $5 was a bit high. It was nice to be in the midst of fellow Korean Americans and seeing people from all cultures come to recognize Korean culture and the positive contributions the Korean community has bestowed on Atlanta. Price per ticket is $10 and food ranged from $5 and up. There were performances inside the building and a few outside as well. We got there a little later in the day after the festivities had started so we missed the raffle and some of the outdoor performances. Parking can fill up pretty quickly but it was nice to see Victory church of Atlanta allow patrons of the festival to park in their lot which is where we parked. 4 solid stars for the Atlanta Korean Festival and a high five to the organizers who put on this gathering every year. There isn't much information available online about this event, especially in English. The only reason I found out this event even existed is because of Angela H's event posting here on Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/events/suwanee-4th-annual-korean-festival-october-20-21-2012). If you're into or have an appreciation for Korean or just Asian culture in general, the Korean Festival is definitely worth checking out at least once. The venue (Suwanee Town Center Park) is nice and the event is very family and pet-friendly. Suwanee Town Center is a nice little outdoor mall with park, playground, and fountain. Suwanee City Hall is also located here. The park is big and clean and there's a stage in the center where all of the festival's performances are held. I went on Saturday afternoon and quite a bit of people showed up. It was busy, but not packed or outrageous. It was a good, manageable crowd size and there were hardly any lines. Several tents were set up around the park. My favorite and the most popular tents were the "food court" tents. A variety of restaurants and vendors sold food and drinks here including sundae (Korean blood sausage) and odeng (Korean fish cake on a stick). There were also several outdoor grills where chefs were making galbi (Korean BBQ short ribs) in large quantities. The smoky smell of the cooked meat was absolutely mouth-watering. I tried the sundae and the odeng. IIRC, prices were $6 (or was it $8? cash only) for each. Both were delicious. The sundae was sliced on the spot by an old Korean lady. The staff recommended I season the sundae with the pre-packaged salt packets, but I think I overseaoned it. You should try it first without seasoning. The odeng was great. One order came with three sticks of fish cake in a large Styrofoam cupful of steaming broth. The portions were big and the fish cake was savory. I also tried some of the $3.50 iced coffee from Kopiara, presumably a Korean coffee roasting company. It was very good and refreshing for an afternoon outdoors. Other tents around the park included an assortment of vendors such as Morning Glory, Mega Mart, White Windmill Bakery and Cafe, and H Mart. H Mart was handing out coupon books. There was even one tent that was playing the Gangnam Style music video non-stop and selling t-shirts that said: "Keep Calm and Gangnam Style." I wonder how many t-shirts they sold. I also wonder if the trio manning that booth went insane from listening to Gangnam Style all day. Center stage played host to many performances including traditional Korean dancing, taekwondo exhibitions, samul nori (traditional Korean drum performance), singing and K-pop performances, and more. Everything was surprisingly entertaining to watch (I typically get bored with some of these performances). My favorite were the K-pop covers performed by different musicians from males to females. Some bands were complete with guitar, keyboard, and/or choreographed dancing. The day was capped off by two or three renditions of Gangnam Style, to which the entire audience in the park danced along, from little kids to the elderly. It was like a Gangnam Style flashmob! The weather was beautiful, which really increased everyone's enjoyment of the festival. Parking was a little hard to come by, but you *should* be able to find a spot. Parking was free and there were several lots located in and around Suwanee Town Center. Just be sure to obey all the signs.

And it just did not disappoint. The food was amazing. I was so stuffed by the time I left I had to just sit in my car and let it digest. I like that they have lots of tall tables for people to stand it and eat their food. There are also some seats that were closer up towards where the band was playing so it didn't feel too crowded and you didn't have anywhere to go. There were lots of different food choices. Sometimes when you go to these festivals there are more alcohol tents then food and that was not the case at this particular event. I love that there were so many food places to choose from and you were not over powered by the amount of alcohol tents. I will definitely go to this event again next year!

It was my first time visiting the festival and I liked it. After reading the reviews from the…read moreprevious years, I was a bit anxious about the parking scene but the volunteers had handled it pretty well. For such a crowd, they did a splendid job and the location (Athletics club) was perfect. The weather was great, so it made it easy to walk and gaze at the stalls at our own pace. We saw some amazing artwork by several artists and stuff like jewelry, wood-carved decor, clay paintings, water paintings and last but not least, my favorite - handmade chocolates. Vendors were super polite and smiling and some of them told us about their stories and their experiences coming to the festival. I wish I could have bought more if only the prices were a bit reasonable. But, I'm glad I picked up a delicious bag of toffee made by Maybird Confections located in Alpharetta. Yum! I highly recommend checking out their online store.

The BSA Troop adults working the 2023 festival were rude and disrespectfully. If you can get past all that, the vendors and art booths were very unique. You can find a little bit of everything. Not many food choices but enough to keep you hydrated and entertained. We had Cuban sandwiches from their food truck and it was really good. There was a small area where you could sit and listen to the music.. Overall it's a nice event but you should defiantly arrive early in the morning and arm yourself with patience.

You cannot get any better than that! It is not a huge venue but there are enough vendors selling street and snack foods. There are a few toy vendors, as well. There are seats and tables set up for your convenience. The stage is set up for performances for dancing and singing. A few performances are also from martial arts studios. Towards the end of the night, there will be a Lion dance and free lanterns will be given to anyone who wants them. Everyone lights them up and come together and walk with the lantern. Because my daughter is getting older, we took my niece with us to go so she would have fun. Lilburn Daze has a lot of fun activities for young kids, even free ones. Here is an example Free - Train ride 10 am to 4 pm Pony Rides Old Fashioned 'Cup'cake Walk 11 am to 4 pm Free - Bubble Blowing Area Fish Pond Free - Build-a-Craft with Home Depot Balloon Animals Petting Zoo Face Painting Removable Tattoos Inflatables Free - Children's art projects Quad Jump Slide We have always gone to Lilburn Daze to check out the vendors. This year, my daughter entered a raffle to win a free month's martial arts. She won! We got the call yesterday. We went to the studio to pick up her uniform and for her to try her first class. She LOVES it. Back to Lilburn Daze. Parking is limited but less than a mile away, is a church with a lot of parking space. We have always parked there since we knew the drill. There is a shuttle that will take you from the church to venue. We've always walked since we enjoy walking. There are a few food vendors and a couple of food trucks. Honestly, I eat before I go there, and prefer to eat afterwards. I did buy funnel cakes and fries for the kids but no big meals. I love when the vendors have samples for you. There's this one vendor that comes annually and I always buy the ready to make dip sauce mix from her. I need to get it off season too, she has so many variety, even sweet ones. Overall, I think Lilburn Daze is a fun event every October, especially for young kids.

LILBURN DAZE FESTIVAL!…read more Today was our first time attending the Lilburn Daze festival which is held in the City Park on Main Street. The festival which is organized by the Lilburn Women's Club and the city of Lilburn has been around for more than forty years. This is a one day festival that is scheduled from 9 am until 5 pm and provides shuttles from two different locations, for your convenience. As we entered the park, opening ceremonies were underway and it was very nice to see that they were starting on time with a live band. The park was very open, (with no trees in the vendor area), so it got hot very fast. They had a nice activities for kids which included a large slide, a train, face painting and a climbing wall. We did not stay very long because it just wasn't our type of festival and we also needed to get something to eat. Our preferred festivals have a more elevated selection of vendors, healthy food options, a variety of performers and stages, and shaded seating areas. Ideally, they are located in a downtown area with shops and businesses that are open and welcoming. There was only one open business located within walking distance of the festival. Although this was not our ideal festival, we did enjoy spending time out and talking with other attendees and some of the vendors. It is a nice community event but just not what we have come to expect when it comes to festivals.: Things to consider: *** I really liked the LDS vendors who had a great genealogy booth that provides a free service to those looking to learn more about their history. You simply fill out an application and they will dedicate approximately 4 hours to get as much info as they can about your family. It's absolutely free and a great start to your journey. ***We need more food options, healthier and a bit more varied. Vendors should all be open at the start of the event. ***Its always nice to have a couple of different entertainment stages in order to have options. Every festival has that one vendor that causes you to just scratch your head, this year that honor goes to the guy who was selling lotion in the chapstick tube. Yes, you heard right! He had a tube the size of chapstick that instead contained lotion. Now, I see a problem with this on a couple of levels: I don't know ANY woman who would bother with chapstick sized lotion, especially women of color. I carry a 12 oz tube with me because we are an ashy people. The chapstick sample did not smell good which is a huge problem because people do not want to walk around smelling like medicine or weeds. Imagine what would happen if you mistakenly grabbed the lotion instead of the chapstick. Yuck! In my opinion, this idea certainly needs to be revisited and revamped.

The building I was looking to open in had been vacant 5 years. Additionally, this would have been a woman owned studio. It took 4 months and 20k only to be turned down for no given reason. One council member even said, are we really turning this woman, a leader in her field, down? Another member condescendingly asked who in the area would want this business. I was so shocked I gave a general response. Fact is, half the people in the building asked me when we'd be open! Your job as leaders is to do what's best for your constituency ALL OF THEM. You lost an opportunity by turning me away. Not only for a proven company (I have 2 other studios in GA both established in 1995) but a community minded one. I ended up opening the new business in Marietta. Wow, what a different experience! Before we were even open I did a talk for the health department and a rep from the chamber of commerce stopped by to see how they could support us. The studio is beautiful and thriving. We made it through a pandemic and an up and down economy.

PEACHTREE CORNERS FESTIVAL…read more My husband and I attended the Peachtree Corners Festival this morning and had a nice time. We just enjoy walking around looking at the various arts and crafts offerings, and services. In addition to the live music, there were plenty of food options. We chose to try out the Egg Rollin vendor who offered samples. We ordered the egg rolls and noodles. The egg rolls were large and light like spring rolls and filled with chicken and veggies. They were very well seasoned. The noodles were very fine and contained a combination of chicken and veggies and very little fat. The food was very good. Other food options included bar-b-que, jerk chicken, Italian ice, turkey drumsticks, hotdogs, subs and more. Some of the vendors sold gift ideas for dogs and dog lovers, candles, homemade soaps, granola, wood products, toy shooters, face painting, caricatures and plenty of jewelry. There was a live band on center stage playing an eclectic blend of music and there were covered tables to sit in the shade and enjoy the music and your food. Don't forget to check out the many classic vehicles that are on display. They are always the highlight of the festival. Beautiful and varied. The bloodmobile was on site so if you have time, stop by and give the gift of life!
