I definitely feel like a number here, not a patient. Everyone seems overworked and they don't seem to care about me.

I became a patient of this dermatology practice after my former doctor its owner closed her…read morepractice and sold it to this group. Metropolitan dermatology is a conglomerate of 20 dermatology practices purchased around the state. It is not managed by doctors it managed by office staff that are not medical professionals. My recent visits indicate that it is the bottom line rather than patient care that is the priority of the new owners. .There are only two doctors on site Dr. Patel and Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen only works one day a week (He is a holdover from the old office). On previous office visits with Dr. Patel, I had good experiences. However, last month (December 2024] after making an appointment, confirming that appointment, taking sick time off and arriving on time, I was told they did not have the supplies necessary to provide the treatment I had sought. Dr. Patel was very apologetic, but I was significantly inconvenienced and ended up burning half of a sick day for my trouble. I rebooked the appointment for January - Dr. Patel offered me a discount for the cost. Because of risk of infection, I was advised to postpone any dental work for the January appointmen, so I did. I scheduled sick time & confirmed my appointment 2 days in advance. I attired on time and was told after a 30 minute wait that the supplies that were necessary for my treatment were not on site and they would be brought from Paramus. Dr. Patel told me it would only take 15 minutes for the drive. This of course was ridiculous because nobody can drive from Paramus to Cedar Grove at 3 o'clock in the afternoon in 15 minutes. I was furious. She was apologetic and admitted she's only an employee and has no role in managing the practice. A lame excuse and not helpful. Apparently, the "managers" shuttle medical supplies back-and-forth between the offices, presumably for cost containment. In my case, A special syringe was required for the procedure and it was moved to Paramus Even though the appointment was confirmed. In fact, the "manager" moved all the syringes to Paramus. I told Dr. Patel beca of this second inconvenience in 30 days, I wanted a substantial discount for the services. She left the room and returned to renegotiate and counter offer. This was astonishing. She told me that the tech who was dispatched from Paramus would arrive in another 30 minutes. Suffice to say she did not arrive. I left the building. So, I have now burned 2 sick half-days - have not had the procedure and need to find myself in surgery of a new dermatologist. I strongly recommend that if you have anything other than a simple rash or a pimple, not to use this dermatology group. Dr. Patel is a cog in the wheel and she answers to offsite people who have little regard or patient's time or convenience. I will not go back.

The office in cedar grove not only had pleasant staff but the doctor who was there worked so well with my son and gave us not only a prescription to heal his rash but also a preventative cream to keep up. I would recommend them 100%!

One part of the staff does not talk to the other part of the staff, and will convey different things to me as the patient. Countless times - I literally cannot count - I have had a long-planned infusion canceled because the company came up with a new hurdle they decided they'd like to implement. The staff is rude, inconsistent, and just utterly incompetent. The services that *have* been delivered have always been done so on an e emergency basis - somebody literally escalates up to a high enough level that something finally gets done. I literally don't know from week to week whether my planned infusion will go forward, and this is no way for a sick person to live. Fuck this company from the bottom of my heart.

He asked the secretary about my insurance coverage and told me it was completely covered. I asked about the cost of a second boot for home use, he told me to pay him another $100. I got a bill from the insurance company for a "medical equipment deductible". When I inquired with the insurance company, they told me his office charged them $630+ for the same $100 boot, I bought from them; and therefore liable for the deductible. The doctor's office informed me that it was common practice to charge the insurance a different price. This is not only dishonest, but an example of why our insurance costs are so high. I complained to the office manager and she had the gall to explain that this was a totally normal and acceptable practice. Doctors are legally obligated to disclose all costs and coverage upfront. Judging from the other negative reviews, this office is not doing that. I went to another doctor, who gave me a totally different diagnosis, received one of five weekly treatments and walked out feeling better than ever. He was surprised to hear about my previous diagnosis and totally ruled out the necessity of a boot. Stay away..

When I inquired about treatments of toenail fungus dr. suggested topical solution distributed by some unknown company He was working with directly. He falsely stated that only one month treatment is needed and success rate of 92% which isn't true! The price for small bottle -one month supply was $85. Meanwhile my personal information was faxed to this company even before I left dr. Joshi office as I got bombarded the same day by texts, calls non stop prompting me to order their product !!! The calls continued for few days until I threatened with charges of harassment ! I was also sold orthotics to alleviate foot pain which did absolutely nothing , on the contrary a heal pad provided by another doctor at considerably lower price REALLY HELPED . And to top everything of - this was the ONLY OFFICE I ever seen that imposes interest CHARGES for using credit card to pay the bill !!!
