Angela and Lori, the two ladies at the front desk, were so very friendly and caring. Since I couldn't write, they filled out all of my paperwork for me. Not only did I not wait that long, but the waiting was extremely pleasant. The facility was impeccably clean and bright and I certainly appreciated the Christian reading material that was available to make the time go faster. Denise was my nurse and she was so very funny, pleasant and extremely professional. Her sense of humor was comforting and distracting. Dr. Vanlue was amazing. He took care of the pain, stitched me right up with extreme precision, and was very detailed in explaining how to care for my injury. Urgent Care centers sometimes seem like they get the "B" or "C" level doctors, but Dr. Vanlue sure was an "A"! Plus, both the nurse and the doctor were foster and adoptive parents who did mission trips, so having faith-filled medical practitioners was an amazing bonus. I would go back to this location in a heartbeat. FYI - It took me forever to type this review due to the injury on my finger. I wanted to do it asap to share this recommendation with others. These folks were worth it!

We explained the issues and he left. They pulled a blood sample and later Amanda stated it came back ok. Long story short Dr. Taylor never came back in the room during the entire 3 hr visit. We left and went home. I made my wife some chicken soup and slowly felt better. Today 7-2 my wife went to her Kidney Doctor. He reviewed her blood work from the ER and stated that her sodium had bottomed out and they should have gave her two bags of IV. I get it, he said / she said, but what REALLY pissed me off was Dr. Taylor's comment that he had a short attention span and give him the short version, like we were bothering him. Maybe his lack of "attention" missed the issue on the blood test?? How does someone with a short attention span become a MD in school? .......we will not go back to this location.

She said that was fine to head over . Within a minute they called back and said don't bother coming , now that we know you have insurance we can't see you . I headed out for Advent health as they recommended and saw this urgent care on my way to Advent Health, I didn't realize it was the same place I called . When I walked in the receptionist clearly irritated called me by name that was on her caller ID and said I told you we can't see you . I think their explanation for refusing to treat me is absolutely ridiculous. Anyway I explained I thought that the urgent care I called was further towards Ponce Inlet . I didn't realize I walked into the same office I called . The ironic thing is I went to Advent Health that this urgent care very dismissively recommended and they also didn't take my health insurance but they were very glad to treat me . They said being self pay was not an issue even though they also knew I have health insurance. Thankfully they did a outstanding job with my care . I was disappointed that this closer urgent care in the Shores would not take my money but Advent Health wasn't to much further . I just have a hard time believing now that they couldn't see me when the other urgent care did with the exact circumstances. They should have just been honest we pick and chose who we want to treat !

They do not accept any government insurance such as Tricare. Ended up going across the bridgeread more

They got him moved as soon as another bed was available. We were both in Halifax after a very serious car accident, leaving him with broken ribs and me with neck fracture and lumbar spine fracture. We went into Brooks rehab after our hospital stay, and that was very good also. Our one main concern was that my husband was without pain meds and food/water for an extended amount of time because they kept saying he was going for a specific MRI (for gallbladder and pancreatitis), but they never showed up until the next day. He was in serious pain, even sweating due to pain, so I was very upset by this. Alex and Brittney, on 7th floor were WONDERFUL nurses! They came quickly when he needed them and never made him feel like a burden to them.

A young Black woman in her mid-20s reportedly presented to the ER in a sickle cell pain crisis and was met with what appeared to be condescension, patronizing language, and dismissal of her pain. Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder that disproportionately affects African American patients and is well known in medicine for causing severe, excruciating pain crises due to blocked blood flow. These crises are considered medical emergencies and are commonly treated with timely opioid pain management when clinically indicated. In the video, the physician was seen talking down to her, due to her need for appropriate pain relief medication while citing vague statements like "studies show it's dangerous," despite the patient being in an emergency setting and clearly in distress. To many viewers like myself, this interaction reflected a lack of empathy, outdated or misapplied reasoning, and troubling bias, particularly toward a young Black woman advocating for herself. Regardless of intent, the encounter raised serious concerns about how pain, race, and chronic illness are handled in emergency medicine. Patients with sickle cell disease already face significant stigma and disbelief in healthcare settings, and situations like this only reinforce that fear. I hope Halifax Health takes these concerns seriously and prioritizes compassionate, evidence-based care for all patients.

The first two times, they pumped me full of fluids and sent me home. The third time I was admitted for a few days. They couldn't figure out what was going on with me so they called it dehydration and began the release process. I had been extremely sick for months and no doctors had been able to figure out the culprit. About 30 minutes after I was told I was going to be released still feeling awful, Dr. Greiper came in the room and told me he suspected I had a rare disease they only see about once a year and he was going to keep me another night to do testing for it. Sure enough, it was indeed the culprit. I was given medication that changed my life. I now go to the Mayo Clinic and have my life back. I am so thankful for this man. He definitely changed my life. As for the ER staff, every time I entered they checked my vitals and based off those they immediately put me into a room and doctors came right in to start trying to figure out the problem. I think they were drawing blood within 15 minutes of me walking in each visit. The waiting room was pretty busy but I never had to wait. I am so thankful for these people.
