Scam and Fraud would be two words to describe them. First red flag: The sales rep came in for a no-obligatory water test and tried to sell the system for $9000 for EC5 and he wanted us to say yes then and there itself. Not letting us take the time for doing the research before giving a commitment Second red flag: After a lot of back and forth messaging, he brought the price down to $5500 and promised a financing option at $55 for 100-120 months. He also promised a soft pull on the credit. BOOM! Next day, you have a hard pull on your credit and the financing company sends the documents over for signing. You read the terms and there is no mention about $55 for 100-120 months. All you see is $55 at 9.9% APR. what this literally translates to is you pay $55 for 213 months and not 100 months. For $66 you would need to pay for 140 months. There were also annual fees and monthly fees associated With these payments. Twice the price that we agreed on. I reached out to the sales person about this and he in writing texted me that it is $55 for 120 months or $66 for 100 months. He said it's a revolving credit and my calculations were wrong and kept on insisting that I sign the document. They expect you to be complete idiots with no understanding of how the financial system works. He promised a lifetime warranty and there is no additional cost associated with the system. I did my own research and found the following: 1. Everytime something goes wrong with the System, you need to get someone over to fix it and they charge you $500 per visit and diagnosis. The filter needs to be changed every two years and they will charge you an amount to put it in for you. 2. If you ever move, you can take the system with you. He said it was $139 to removed the system and install it in your new place and no additional costs for that. On doing some research people have paid $500 for for this. Imagine paying $5500 for the system and $600 on an ongoing basis yearly. Dont fall for that 4.8 star review they have on google. They have censored the reviews and so no negative reviews go through. Do your own research and don't fall for the scam that these are Home Depot people. They are pure SCAMMERS. Good thing I read the fine print. read more

I am very pleased with my new RainSoft water treatment system. Water is clear, ice cubes are clear, hot tun refill resulted in best water chemistry ever. From the initial appointment with Dave, all of my questions and concerns were addressed. The installation was next day and it was done with great care and clean up. This system has a higher cost than some, but the lifetime warranty and transportability of the system was key. Plus they offer some additional savings perks! This company distrubutes phony "free water test kits" through Home Depot in order to drum up business. Shame on Atlantic Water, and shame on Home Depot. Let me explain. On my way out of the Mantua, NJ Home Depot several weeks ago, I spotted a rack of "Free Water Test Kits." I wanted to have our home water tested for contaminants, specifically lead, so I grabbed a kit. I filled the sample vial with water that had been filtered through our reverse-osmosis system and mailed it in. A few days later I got a call from Fred at Atlantic Water Products. He said he wanted to review the results of my water test with me. I asked Fred to email the report so we could go over it together. He said that there was no report because the test was "very basic." He went on to tell me that my total dissolved solids (TDS) and minerals were both "high." I asked what the actual values were and he was unable to tell me. I called him on his BS because I have a TDS meter I use to periodically check the efficacy of our RO system, and I know that the filtered water has a TDS of about 8 parts per million. Even the tap water is only about 160 parts per million, and we have never had any problems with mineral scaling or staining. I am absolutely sure they didn't even test the sample. I went on to ask Fred if they offered a more comprehensive water test. He told me they could send out a tech with a "mini-lab" to do advanced testing in our home for free...an obvious ploy to get someone in the house to make a sales pitch for a water treatment system. I can't speak for the quality of the products they install or for their service, but I wouldn't trust these guys any further than I could throw them (with wrist and elbow tendonitis). Reading through the other comments, it is obvious that Atlantic Water engages in the kind of old-school, sleazebag salesmanship that reminds me of the door-to-door salesmen of bygone days. We had a water system installed, was not done by a certified plumber, the tests were faulty (by admission of the company head) and had leaking. Had to fight to get my floors replaced. I woke up Christmas Eve morning to no water, called the owner and was told that it was a homeowner issue and tried to blame us. I informed him that our water pipes were insulated and the pipes to or from the unit were frozen. Had to argue with him for over 2 hours before he said he would get a certified plumber to come fix the problem. Now we wait and see. read more

Advice to prospective customers: 1) Atlantic Water and Air has a lot of DBA (Doing business as) names - Atlantic Water Products, Atlantic Home Services, Atlantic Water and Air. That's a red flag that generally means they've gotten bad reviews and are trying to dodge you from finding out. 2) Atlantic Water is a contractor for the Rainsoft product (located in Mays Landing, NJ). There are better and much cheaper whole house filters out there. We paid almost $6k for this system. I talked to another furnace/water purifier expert, and he said that the Rainsoft product has hundreds of parts, making it a much more complicated system. His system was much more basic, just as effective, and cost less than $1500. 3) The machine is expensive enough, but what they don't tell you is that every year, the machine will beep prompting you to call and have it serviced. You can only mute the machine for 7 days. I just asked, and they finally sent me instructions on how to mute the alarm for a year, which is basically pressing different arrows in a set sequence. However, you cannot mute the system indefinitely. If they come and service your machine, expect to pay between $250-600 each service. I now rent out the house, and I just received a bill for nearly $600, but I never received a quote nor did I authorize the work. 4) My understanding is that when you move, they'll move the system for you. I just asked them to flat out remove the system and they said they wouldn't. Whatever you do, say "no" or "not now" to the pushy sales rep, and do your research. You'll be paying outrageous money to this company for life. read more

Do not be deceived by this scam. We thought we could trust Home Depot back in 2015 when they offered us a free water test after we bought our first home. Lo and behold it was a LENGTHY sales pitch using psuedo-science that played upon the vulnerable situation we were in at the time (one of us was having frightening chronic health problems that were getting worse by the day.) We were not allowed to have time to think about our decision and were told our water was bad based on a psuedo-scientific magic trick. Could we get back to them tomorrow? No the decision had to be made that day. To the tune of $7,000. Oh but they were throwing in so many freebies for us! Come to find out this system is only worth a few thousand dollars. Fast forward five years and we have to pay HUNDREDS per year to maintain this system. Additionally, all along the customer service of the distributer, Atlantic Water Products (AWP,) has been atrocious. Very unprofessional. We have to call 3 and 4 times to get a call back. We are clearly low priority now that we've bought the system. We moved recently, to a home that is a 2 minute drive from our previous home. Our first appointment to have the water system removed was canceled only hours beforehand. So we had to leave the system and then arrange with the new residents to have it removed by AWP a month later (which was the soonest we could get.) AWP does not allow same day removal and installation. You have to call them again once the system is removed to schedule installation. BUT they don't call you back until you've called 3-4 times. So we weren't able to get a re-installation scheduled for another month. When we finally got them on the phone they told us that since our system had been sitting for over 24 hours we now were advised to pay an additional $700 for new filters... keep in mind removal was $300 and installation will be ANOTHER $300. So we have to pay $1,300 to move this system, $700 of which we have to pay only because they don't allow same day installation!! The unprofessional way the company is run as well as the scammy way the sale went down has really made me question whether this product is even legitimate. A few years back I grilled one of the customer service people repeatedly to find out whether the system filters our lead. All I ever eventually got was a one sentence email saying "yes it filters out lead." No NSF certification, no "this is how it works" etc. Last year when the technician was installing replacement parts I saw that one of the under-sink cartridges had a new label with just SO many psuedo-scientific claims on it- It said it prevents cancer!? The only thing I will say is that the technicians have always seemed professional. But no one told us when we moved our system that it couldn't sit for longer than 24 hours. No one told us about the risk of bacteria. When we called to complain Gus Pfaundler, who runs the service department at AWP told us HE was disappointed with US! For not wanting to be scammed I guess? Please be aware that multiple lawsuits against Rainsoft and Home Depot for this scam have been filed and won. Please be aware there are other products that do the same thing and are cheaper. And don't be naive like we were when we were scared for our health and desperate- if someone tells you you can't take a day or two to think about whether to buy something you have to stop and ask yourself what they are afraid you will discover in 24-48 hours of research. read more

We moved into our home in Feb 2015 & prior to moving in, the house was vacant for two years... We started to notice a change in our skin and staph infections.. This company has over 43 complaints closed with BBB in last 3 years | 18 closed in last 12 months. They send out a fraudulent advertisement card saying there is a "WATER UPDATE." They have been unable to contact you. Please contact them within the next 72 hours. The advertising campaign seems a bit like a scam and if I had not stopped myself and remembered I have tested my water, I have indeed paid my bills. I would be calling instead of checking up on the company as a whole. My spouse and I made the mistake of doing a Home Depot "free" water test. A week or so later someone (whom we now know was from Atlantic Water and Air) called to say "dissolved solids" were in our water and that we could make an appointment to have a technician come to our house for an hour to tell us exactly what was in it. They were insistent that both spouses be home, and when they called me *twice* a few days beforehand to confirm, then called my wife *twice* anyway to reconfirm, we found this disingenuous and high pressure right off the bat. The magic show began around 7:15pm on a work day. After 80 minutes of a ludicrous live infomercial we finally had to stop our salesman so we could make dinner, when after saying "I'm wrapping up now" he then said, "Now I just need one more hour of your undivided attention." (!!) So instead we agreed on a time a few days later when he could come and do "the second hour." As soon as he was gone we agreed that the show was entertaining as heck (our 4-year-old loved it) but pointless. Instead of truly testing our water he showed us slides of the Earth from space and told us about how the planet was formed billions of years ago by a spinning ball of rock with an iron core that made it an electromagnet, and then the planet was pummeled with "ice comets" and so on. Then he started talking about water pollution in the broadest global terms possible as though we needed convincing that water pollution is a major problem. We're the ones who requested this test. Bottom line, here's what we learned from his couple of science tricks: there's stuff in our water. Good stuff? Bad stuff? Who knows. Just stuff, which he dramatically illustrated by swirling around the sedimented particles in a vial of chemicals. My spouse is a biologist so this was particularly entertaining and silly from her point of view, as even healthy mineral water will sediment out the minerals, so particles don't prove anything. When I asked specifically, is there lead in our water, he wouldn't tell us. He could only tell us their system removes lead (if it's there) and that they don't get into "specific heavy metals...we just focus on removing everything." When I asked if it filters out fluoride, instead of giving me an answer he said there's a lot of debate on whether fluoride is good or bad. I said, whether it's good or bad for you, does your system filter it out? He stammered and said finally, "No, it doesn't." I don't know why that was a big deal, it was fine with us; I'm just pointing out how it was difficult if not impossible to get straight answers. My spouse asked how we can find out exactly what's in the water because we thought that's what he was going to do, and he dismissively said, Oh that's takes a full spectrum analysis, it's very complicated and involves photons and beams of light. Instead he tried to keep us on the track of-why do you want *anything* in your water, why the focus on just lead? In other words - he doesn't have a clue what's actually in our water except for trace amounts of chlorine because that's put in by our treatment plant. We're grateful that we broke it up into a 2nd meeting because it gave us a chance to research this online and find some damning reviews, and to also do an actual water test and find out that there's *nothing harmful* in our water. That's something they're never going to tell you because they want you to spend $8K on a RainSoft system that you don't need. We wanted to cancel our 2nd appt. but realized that our salesman (who isn't from RainSoft as he claimed but from Atlantic) conveniently hadn't left us his number so I emailed them through the site giving them my name and address and letting them know to cancel our appointment. I then predicted to my better half that they wouldn't write me back to confirm but would instead call her to try and get us to keep the appointment anyway. And yep, that's exactly what they did. Divide and conquer the spouses! We could guess this because of the way they had called us both, twice, separately, the first time as though we wouldn't both be sharing this annoyance with each other. Their firm message to her said she needs to call them back to cancel, or they'll consider the appointment confirmed! Instead we just sent them another email saying that if anyone shows up at our house tomorrow night we'll consider it stalking and harassment and will immediately call 911. Do not waste your money(Rain Soft). If you do not have well water or live is a swamp area then it may not benefit you. They do not tell you about the services charges of $200 to change the filter. I was lied to about the FREE promotional soaps that they offer you. I was told that all your orders would be free of charge.......but they are not. Joshua from gohealthy360 which is the company they use...told me that it has to be $75 dollars or more for free shipping, and they say to use the value pack purchase because its better on points but also tell you to get the bottles for the product....but depending on how many points you are provided....you will not be able to use them all because after a certain point...you will not have enough points to reach the $75 mark, which mean you will be paying for shipping. And if they come in to do a test...use your own soap not the soap that they bring with them....because you do not know what is in the soap and if the product will really work with your water. Please do a free water test first to determine if you really need to invest 6k into a filter that you will be paying for..for the rest of your life. read more

These people are con-artists. They come out to your house and lie about everything. Frank was my salesman I purchased an EC-4 system for $6500. trusting him was a big mistake. The system has a very loud alarm that goes off after a year the only way to turn it off is pay them to come out and change the filters (I was doing this by myself) Also if you dont pay them to come to your house ($450) the system will eventually clog and your water pressure will get so weak you cant even take a shower. Frank told me I would only have to pay $90 for filters once a year and could change them myself that is all I would need to do to maintain the system. Now that I think about that I was really stupid for believing this. He also promised me free vacations and coupons for allowing them to put a sign in my yard.That was also lies the "Free" vacations are not free and they were garbage - out of season things - like go to a ski mountain in July when there is no snow. When I went in to complain about all this the girl says we will take Frank's commission away. What the f!!!!k do I care about Frank's commission!!! That really got me twisted.
