The one staff member I absolutely adored was the Janitor. It's sad that the most helpful and kind worker was the Janitor, who checked up on my grandpa and actually took the time to solve any issue he could help us with between cleaning. Unfortunately, my grandpa did pass away here. He was very sick and I do NOT blame this company. However, we did walk in to find him passed way. It concerns me how long he might have been there lifeless. He was a great man and I think he deserved to pass away in a more caring place. My parents talked to the staff often about his condition and what his plan was at the rehab at Shamar. I remember how my parents complained to me very often about how rude and careless the workers they communicated with sounded over the phone. I do have to commend them in the fact that when my grandpa did pass away that they took the time to clean him up and rest him in bed for us to view. The JANITOR brought us water and comforted us while we spent our last moments with him. For real, give the janitor a raise because he genuinely cares about his job.

Then we realized it wasn't the greatest. So we came to visit the Sharmar Village and were so pleased with what we saw. It's been over a year now and my mother passed away recently. The staff, nurses and caretakers have been exceptional the entire time. They have gone above and beyond consistently for my parents. Now my father is alone and the entire staff has taken a personal interest in him to be sure he is happy and adjusting very well. They are extremely kind and they genuinely care. They are always professional and everything I've seen how they interact with other residents, and each other is always with respect and kindness. When I visit my father I stay here for at least 5 to 6 days at a time 24 hours a day. The staff is very welcoming to me and make sure I am as comfortable as everyone else. I have spent time speaking to many of the residents who all seem to be very nice people and are just wonderful. They all seem to take care of each other and show each other respect, and are encouraging to each other. I have found that the residents are not only from Pueblo, but also from many areas around Pueblo and other states as well. It's so interesting to speak with them and to hear where they are from, what they did for a living, and about their families. If you are looking for an assisted living center, rehabilitation center, or nursing care, this is the place to bring your parents or loved ones. My family and I are grateful knowing how well our father is taken care of for his remaining years. Thank you Sharmar staff!

Her doctor told us that she only needed to be here 2 to 3 weeks. The facility tried to make her stay longer against her doctors orders. They also messed with her cardiac medication without contacting her cardiologist. When my mom questioned them, they told my mom that she wasn't a "caregiver" and she shouldn't question them. (she has taken care of both her parents for years). They, Sue the manager there, was extremely rude. We have taken her out now. They didn't get her oxygen ordered like they should have, even though they had more than advanced notice. We were able to get that done with her doctor on our own.

This place thinks about money only and does NOT have enough help on the floors to take care of the patients. They need more help instead of sending extra help home. My family got sick of the way I was treated and contacted the state board. This place is not fit or staffed to take care of patients. The food was not fit to eat most of the time. It was so salty and the drs kept telling me to cut back on my salt intake. Even the cheese burgers didnt taste right. Only thing that was half way eatable was the cold sandwiches. The few good nurses and cna's they did have were running their legs off trying their best to take care of all the patients. I was always glad when I saw one of them come in. I knew I was going to be taken care of like a patient should be. I do not ever want to go back to this place again. In my opinion it should be closed down or the state needs to step in and order them to get more help. Most times when I needed help there had to be 2 on the lift machine. So one CNA or nurse would have to got find someone before I was take care of. The PT and OT were kind and very helpful. But again with all the BAD this place should not be open until they staff it correctly and get better food in it. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is for the Good staff and like I said there was only very few of them. Maybe a half dozen out of all the staff. This is not counting any of the help that came in once in a while. Why not have them come in as employees all the time to help out???? Dont go here if you have a choice. I was not given a choice. I was just told I was being transfered from the hospital to a rehap to help me get back on my feet.

My cousin spent 3 months in the nursing home side of the Pavilion At Villa. It's hard to adequately…read moredescribe the place. The floor of her side of the room was filthy and sticky when she first moved in...sort of a leftover residue of some velcro attachment. I don't think the floor was cleaned the entire time she was there. The whole hall was in pretty bad shape. Several times I observed the dirty dinner dishes sitting in the cafeteria overnight. Yes, sitting on carts for the entire night. The bathroom sink dripped and was never addressed. It took a lot of prodding on my part to get her basic needs addressed. She had extreme dementia, but the staff either didn't know or chose to act as if they didn't know. After noticing that she hadn't been bathed for over 2 weeks, I was told that she "refused," and there was nothing they could do. I asked them to call me when she refused, had them put it in their notes, and put notes on the wall in her room with my phone number (I had power of attorney and medical power of attorney) so that I could make sure she agreed to be bathed. They never called and seemed more than happy to accept her refusal. My two requests were for her to be bathed at least once a week, and for them to put her phone in the charger at night and give it to her in the morning (she was bed bound). Well, the phone was often not charged for days at a time (calling the nurse's station to request help was usually futile (no answer). Her phone was actually washed, so I had to get her a new one. After about 2 months, we did manage to get her bathed regularly and have her phone available, but it truly took 2 full months to make it happen. She was a pleasant patient with very few needs, so I could never understand the ineptitude and lack of attention to her basic needs being met. Why would it take two months to get into this basic rythm? Sadly she passed after her third month there. I will say that the staff were, for the most part, kind and considerate, at least when I was around. We hear stories about the nightmare of Medicaid nursing home care, and they are true. If you have alternate choices, I encourage you to take them. Sadly, my cousin did not.

The Pavilion at Pueblo Villa is a skilled nursing facility. As with all facilities that deal with…read morepeople, there are strengths and concerns. There are amenities such as a chapel, beauty salon, and activities.These are the thing that were pluses when I toured the facility. However, their food service had much to be desired.The residents have to wait 30 to 60 minutes to be served. Residents are wheeled to the dining room only to wait. They could stream line the process by asking the residents what they want for dinner prior to being wheeled into the dining room. They could learn a lot from anyone who works in a school lunch room. Since this is a for profit business, they don't have enough staff. They can really use a hand during meal times. With that being said, when I called to advise them of my concerns they were kind and said they would work to correct my concerns. The next time I visited during meal time things were much improved, but they still need school cafeteria staff to help them stream line the whole process.

Sure the evaluation could possibly be done by ENT that often would report you simply the findings without functional recommendations, education and actual treatment. Then along came this "kid"from Indiana. Jackie Savage, the founder and CEO of this organization is a bright, energetic, young woman who knew what Pueblo needed: good outpatient therapy for those with neurologic disorders and Speech and hearing disorders. She could work anywhere but even more she could be a CEO of many organizations that I've seen. She impresses you and motivates you as well as teaching you and doing the evaluation. She's trained in and expertly performs laryngoscopy but she also uses it a teaching and learning tool for patients during the procedure. She has assembled an outstanding group of young therapist, fully trained, and full of motivation and energy that can't help but infect you. They will get you on the road to recovery. In addition she will also periodically have graduates from Speech degree programs doing their post graduate year. How would I know all this?After all, I have no ENT or neurological training. I am a Patient. I have Parkinson's disease and they have helped me maintain my gain by facilitating a.weekly group of Parkinson's patients pot therapy called " Loud Crowd".
