Did 4 training sessions on vacation. I was treated as if I was a VIP by both instructor and academy members, even though I'm not a VIP. They offer gi rentals, a big plus if you're on vacation. They take CC and you get email or text receipts, everything is super professional with respect to the business aspect of the academy. Facilities are amazing, the best I've ever seen. It's like training inside a 5* hotel or spa. Mats are on top of tires and are perfect for breakfalls. Tons of training times available, all taught by the head instructor Leo D'avila. Definitely a competition gym. Prof Leo runs a positive class with good energy. He rolls with all the students . Environment is very friendly, lots of families and women training there. Big range of people training there - from competition fighters to people with some physical limitations. Very safe environment. It's an academy, not a fight club. ATOS is well known for being on the cutting edge of techniques and training methodologies, and that part is evident in the instruction. Very detail-oriented and structured for maximum efficiency of learning. They don't spend all day talking about how tough they are - instead they show their toughness in how hard they roll and the intensity of the drills. Me and my 2 daughters (7 and 10 years old) are training at Atos Miami. In the beginning we was going 2 or 3 times per week because my daughters was doing gymnastic at the same time. After few weeks they ask me to only go to Jiu-Jitsu. Now they are training everyday, also on Saturdays in the morning! The days I can't go, they complain with me. I started after my kids in the Woman's Only Class and I really enjoy it. Now I understand why my daughters love it. The same also happen with me, I started only Tuesday and Thursday and now always when I have opportunity I jump in the next class of all levels. When I moved to Miami I went to have one class to see how it was the environment, if it was clean and how people were. I loved the place! It's everything organized and really clean. The owner is nice and explains all you need to know for starting in jiu-jitsu! They have a lot of different kind of classes for adults and also separate classes for children according to the ages. They have classes for beginners, self-defense, also specific classes for competitors. The teammates were so friendly and receptive. I've been training here since the opening, and all I can say is the training is on another level. A lot of academies focus on different techniques and drills in varying positions which causes you to forget a lot of them. Here at Atos Miami we train on the same position and build up on submissions and sweeps and defense from that position. You get a very detailed view of the position before we move on to a new one. This allowed me to utilize everything I learned more effectively when we do live rolls. Me and my 6 years old have been training BJJ Gi and No-Gi at Atos for the past 3 months and I love it. Leo D'avila is the owner( he is Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro 4th degree black belt) and is very knowledgeable and courteous. I met Prof D'avilla at a wrestling class at ATOS HQ about 6 years ago. My first impression was that he had some awesome judo takedowns. When he started teaching the morning and late night classes I got to see his attention to detail as an instructor. If I lived in Miami, I would go to his school for sure. read more
