My loved one lived here during his final 6 months of life. I can't praise this business highly enough. The staff makes all the difference. They are caring, kind folks who really do their best. There is a daytime nurse who oversees the care. She runs a tight ship and creates an incredibly strong team. The facility is nice, clean and smells good. The meal choices are varied and delicious. Love visiting my family member Lupe. Everyone works here. Yasss. The help is very friendly, caring and immaculately clean. I eat here also for a fee of 10.00 for breakfast. Pretty delicious here. The burgers are delicious as well. I really love this place for my family member as i know she's in a beautiful place. She was able to bring her own personal furniture so that she feels at home. They have a library and TV room, game room, entertainment here as well. I highly recommend this business for friends and family. read more

My father was living here for a short time and I thought he would be staying longer but unfortunately he passed away. He was diagnosed with cancer, and along with that my mother passed away 5 months prior so it was heart breaking when he did pass so quickly. I chose Atria for my father because it was close to our home and very grateful he was residing there, even if it was for a short time. The caregiver's, med tech's, Resident services director and staff were compassionate, kind and understanding of his illness and the heartbreak he was going through. My dad still had a sense of humor so I knew that Atria was the right choice for him. I appreciated the humanism the staff engaged in. I am grateful for the time spent there in his last days. read more

I don't write reviews. But for Atria Covina I need to. My Dad in February of 2021 fell and broke his femur. I had to find an assisted-living for my Dad to move to. I looked at several. From the day I walked into this place Atria Covina, which was the last place I looked at, and there were many. I knew this was the place that I was going to move my dad. I read a lot of other reviews good and bad. I don't know that there is a perfect place. But this place was that for my Dad. I have never walked into Atria and wondered why did I put my dad here, or are they taking good care of my Dad. The staff here for me and my father has been amazing from the day I brought him here, to a year later when my father got very sick from his cancer treatments. They were there by my side to help me, help him through it all. They went over and above in the care they took, especially when my Dad got even sicker. They helped me find the right hospice company to come in for my Dad. So know with a very heavey heart and tears. I have to move my Dad from what I consider his home, away from family the staff at Atria and friends. To the staff at Atria Covina your are absolutely amazing, and very much appreciated. The business continuously doesn't follow their set schedule of events, despite posting their event flyers throughout the entire facility and online on their website. The value you get for this place is much less than what you pay for. In addition, our lover one was in the hospital for over a week and not a single phone call from the staff asking if everything is OK. It smells absolutely horrible in this building. If you value proper care for your loved one, please find another place. Don't do this to your family by placing them in this facility. There are so many better places out there. read more

The staff are very kind and courteous with my mother in law. She is very entertained with all the activities. Her favorite activities include bingo, arts & crafts, and weekly field trips to different locations. The food looks amazing and my mother in law is always talking about how delicious it is. A few months after she started at the Atria she visited her doctor and he said that she was much healthier, lost weight, cholesterol went down, and was able to remove her blood pressure medications. My mother in law is so happy and independent at the Atria. This was the best decision we made for her. read more

I work with a placement agency and Atria Covina is one of our go to assisted living bldgs in the Covina area. Why is this? Each time I pay them a visit, I am greeted with a friendly staff. The checking of vaccinations and temperatures give me the peace of mind that Atria has every intention of keeping everyone safe. Rates are very competitive here. It's a traditional building which actually gives me the "home" feeling that our referred clients will feel as they move-in. The staff are caring and attentive from the administration, to the nursing care, onto the care staff, bldg maintenance engineers and kitchen staff. When considering a home for your parents, having a hard working care crew would be the most important factor for your decision making and Atria Covina can easily achieve that each time! read more

The 3 stars above are an average, for the 11 years my father-in-law lived at Atria Covina. In the beginning it was 5 stars. Then after a few years, I'd say 4 stars. But years 9-11 get NO stars. I'm not going to sit here and list every thing that was wrong with Atria Covina, during his 11 year stay. There were many good things, too. Many of the staff were very caring to him and others living there. A few were there from the day my father-in-law moved in, until we had to move him. Funny, some of those staff left Atria Covina within a week or two of us moving him. Also other residents moved out during this same time period. The reason given, according to my father-in-law, was the cost increase. All I know is, we the family, were supplementing my father-in-law's rent and care, in the amount of $900 and month for a couple years, because he didn't have enough income. Then practically overnight, it jumped to $2,200 a month. Depending on who we talked to in Atria Covina management, (not naming names) we got different responses and even unfulfilled promises. It was obvious we needed to find another place. So we did. Now we supplement his rent and care only $400 a month. His room is larger, and he gets far more care. I won't go into the differences. But it's like night and day. He actually told us, quote: "We should have done this a while ago". And he said, "Over all it's better than the other place". We were relieved, because he isn't easy, and at 94 yrs old, we weren't sure how he would take moving after 11 years. I do want to mention the two staff members that helped in the end. Cost, $3,500 per month. My mom stayed 6 months. This place is not good for seniors who have any form of memory impairment such as dementia . For residents with any sorts of mental disabilities, atria leaves them in the dark TV room all day where they are shown crime shows like law & order or the USA tv network. I'd find my mom & other residents in there asleep usually & at all hours of the day until 7PM or 8. My mom's mental decline accelerated while at Atria Covina it seemed. A dark room is depressing. As soon as I took her to a cheaper 6 bedroom Residential care facility , she was awake during daylight hour again & more responsive. Atria did take my mom out to local events once a month using their van. Never did Atria Covina say that my mother exceeded their level of care. read more

When I first heard of this senior living home I thought, 'Wow, this place sounds too good to be true! For the price of $2040 a month my grandmother will have a hotel size room, AC, heater, no electric/water bill, cable, vacuuming/laundry done once a week, 3 square meals a day and transportation to and from dialysis! Amazing!' My grandmother and I met with a very sweet sales agent, Jessica Goings in early September. We went over all that Atria of Covina had to offer and my grandmother showed interest, until Jessica said the only room available was upstairs... and the only way to see that room on that particular day was to use the stairs because their ONE elevator was inoperable for maintenance. As we were leaving, Jessica asked if we would like to stay and have a free dinner prepared by Atria's cooks. We agreed. My grandmother ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and I ordered fish accompanied by soggy veggies. The food was Luke warm and something you'd find sitting out in a warming pan at Home Town Buffet. -We all know how far Home Town Buffet has fallen in quality within the past decade. While we're sitting down Jessica brought a seasoned patriot of Atria, Beni, to speak to my grandmother. She spun this idea that the second floor was so much better than the ground floor because the view, lack of noise, library and the recreational room where the residents took part in bingo and such. What really caught my grandmother's ear was when Beni said families can join the residents for any meal free of charge. With the exception of large events when more expensive food is being ordered, such as prim rib, during Christmas. This costs anywhere between $8-$15 per visitor. My grandmother was sold by the time they brought out the cold apple cobbler. So much in fact that my grandmother had me write a $500 check to hold and use as a deposit on the room. We set up an appointment that following Monday to sit down with the manager Samuel Guzman to go over and sign paper work to make the move in official. Sam was a nice gentlemen and wooed my grandmother by "waving" a $2000 fee and allowing her to move in her furniture a week before her move in date, October 1st. Everything seemed great until my brother and I tried moving our grandmother's belongings September 25th. When we got up to her soon-to-be-room, it was fully furnished as a Model Room! Now if my grandmother got the last available room why was it setup as a Model Room? Especially if we had an arrangement to move in furniture a week before the move in date! That was so annoying for the because it seems to me that the Atria team had lied to my grandmother to make it seem like she was lucky and quick enough to grab this GREAT DEAL on this LAST available room! Yes, people move in and out but what are the chances? Okay, so I move in my grandmother October 1st and the next day I see her she tells me "I have to pay $5 per visitor that wants to eat with me. They bill me at the end of the month." It would have been okay if Atria's staff was upfront about this before hand, instead of telling my grandmother things to draw her in. My grandmother has been a dialysis patient for over 10 years now and that is her life line. Atria has a bus that takes it's residents to and from appointments and one of Atria's staff told my grandmother they couldn't take her. She calls me and I agree to take her. She calls me later to tell me that they can pick her up but I would have to drop her off. Annoyed, I agree. My grandmother calls me back a third time to tell me they can't take her at all because they have to do maintenance on the bus to fix bad breaks. Why bother telling my grandmother you'll take her if thirty minutes later you're going to replace the faulty breaks on your corporate vehicle? Seriously. Aside from what I've written above my grandmother's food is either cold or dry. I understand this is a senior living home but these people still have taste buds! A little more effort in improving the quality of your food wouldn't hurt. As for the staff, they are very kind and always have a welcoming smile on their faces. Regardless of the wonderful smiling faces I'm looking into another place for my grandmother to live. My grandmother deserves better than to be treated like the forgotten on Lost Island. Atria saved my Mother in Law's life. After reading the other review it got me thinking. Why do we need a facility like Atria. The days of the Walton's are over, where 3 generations of a family can live in one house and support each other. Today everyone works, children leave the home and our seniors are living longer and fuller lives. My Mom has lived with us for over a year and at 82 is doing pretty well, mentally and physically. But we live in a two story house and the inevitable happened, she slipped on the stairs and fractured her leg. After hospital and rehab care we knew she needed to be in an assisted living home for her protection and provide the opportunity to enlarge her social circle. We looked at fancier (and more expensive) places, but what struck my wife and i most was the people. Staff and residents that we met have a positive open attitude. Of course there are those residents that are by nature quiet and stay to themselves. That's their choice and Atria respects that. Atria's main purpose is to be our eyes and ears, to watch out for the signs of distress and act on them. My wife got a call last week saying that our Mom had shortness of breath, that they called 911 and she would be taken to the local ER. I work in the area and met her there. Seeing her I thought "she seems OK, maybe she just exerted herself too much." After testing it turned out she had a pulmonary embolism possibly brought on by her leg injury. If not acted upon it could have been deadly. I just got off the phone with Sam. He was checking on her status as she is finishing her treatment before she can go home. He told me that he had noticed that here breathing wasn't "normal" and decided to call 911. Cold meals, van problems, elevator repairs and all.. I want a place that looks out for my Mom.
