But when Medicare decided to cut off my mother's coverage, the staff at Ingraham Manor didn't tell my mother, or myself as her Power of Attorney. They just quietly moved her to their long-term care wing, claiming that "she'd be more comfortable there," and switched her to self-pay status - again, without saying a word to us about it. It took about 10 days for me to find out accidentally when one of the social workers mentioned that my mother was self-paying, and I was absolutely livid! I removed her from the facility a few days later and my mother was forced to pay a very large bill for those 10+ days. Oh, but it doesn't even end there. Nine months later, I received another bill in the mail for an additional $3500 because the billing department at Ingraham Manor had "mistakenly" charged her the wrong rate. I feel so much disgust towards this facility because the whole situation seems like a deliberate and calculated money-grab against an elderly woman who didn't have much money to begin with. These types of practices should be illegal. At the very least, I feel like they are unethical and predatory. Needless to say, I would never again trust anyone at this facility.

The supporting staff from Admissions to the Social Worker/Transitions professionals, and other Staff were simply great. Other reviews mentioned issues with the food - but we found the food to be unexpectedly well-prepared and delicious! Sure, 5 weeks, 3 meals a day, to hundreds of patients, there were a couple "misses". But my Wife and I were stunned at how good the food was overall. Great job everybody! We are SO grateful that Carol was able to go to the Southington Care Center. (A Note to management... and this is NOT a SCC issue...
