Attentive, skilled, and caring Nurses, CNAs, and Aides. And the PTs, OTs, and Speech Therapists were not only highly skilled and effective, but they all had amazing and genuine interpersonal skills - a very rare combination. The supporting staff from Admissions to the Social Worker/Transitions professionals, and other Staff were simply great. Other reviews mentioned issues with the food - but we found the food to be unexpectedly well-prepared and delicious! Sure, 5 weeks, 3 meals a day, to hundreds of patients, there were a couple "misses". But my Wife and I were stunned at how good the food was overall. Great job everybody! We are SO grateful that Carol was able to go to the Southington Care Center. (A Note to management... and this is NOT a SCC issue... I STRONGLY recommend you find a different Wheelchair Ambulatory Service than that from "Nazim" [860-990-1172]. We could not get our questions answered in a timely manner and she should have received more extensive therapy but did not. They basically let her have a bed for a few weeks. They were not helpful in providing strategies for the family to use so all we could do was read the TBI manual and fend for ourselves. We were absolutely not happy with the results of her time there. They would not let her walk on her own so she was either in bed, a chair or wheelchair. My suggestion is that you have family there all day and night to support your loved one.

It is unique not only in the A+ care that all residents receive, but the Little Sisters of the Poor truly live their mission, "to care for the Elderly Poor" with Love, Joy and Respect. Every resident I have come to know absolutely Loves living at the Residence. Their lives are filled with joy which is clearly evident whenever you visit. As one resident says, "St. Joseph's Residence is like living on the Good Ship Lollipop, without ever leaving port". As a result, our family members live longer, happier lives. That is a testament to the Care they receive and the sense of belonging - a sense of Family and being in their own home. I highly recommend St. Josephs Residence for the Elderly Poor. It was cold when we toured but we could see walking trails and were told about gardening areas. We have looked at other communities and none so far have had the range of events and activities that Whitney Center did. They did a great job answering our questions. After our tour we met up with our friends for dinner.
