Went to Attack of the Tatsu and honestly... I was not prepared. We found this by chance and decided to stop by. Given that the seating outside was full, they took us to the bar, and it was WOW! The ambiance was just subpar. Walked in thinking it's just another Japanese spot. Walked out questioning why this place is ONLY in Chattanooga! the drinks were fun, but the food was next level. Had the katsu curry and Menchi burger. Every bite felt like: "okay wow... this is serious" Only complaint? We didn't order enough. Rookie mistake. We will def return whenever in the area!

So, my focus this week has been Chattanooga's Buger Week and we visited another local spot that offers a burger only one week a year. Being a Japanese restaurant, they of course used Waygu beef and the thickest burger I've seen this week, fused with a variety of Japanese flavors and ingredients. It was a great burger and I accompanied it with some pickled vegetables and edamame. The food was superb and with their expanded Japanese beer options, it made for a wonderful meal. Service here is always top shelf and I just love the vibe of the restaurant itself.

Man- Chattanooga we then found out! Attack has been one of my favorite dinning experiences in a while! From the food, to the ambience, the free arcade games, and then the fire food! Yall dont pull up because I want a table! I arrived at Attack on a Tuesday night after a long drive in from the coast. We were seated immediately and waited on by a great server. We tried everything, Japanese sodas (4/5, coolest part was the open) chicken katsu sando (5/5 especially with the chilli oil),edamame (2/5, was dry while soggy when salty, while flavorless lol idk), and an order of Ramen (4.5/5). We sat at the back bar, and it was the perfect vibe for this meal. Really transports you to Japan, while getting Smoky so wear clothes you dont care about smelling like Wok smoke! Come check them out for sure

Feels like I just stepped into a side street in Japan! Great! First impression in the back room of this place. We sat at the bar and could watch them make ramen. Very busy, loud, active environment. I ordered the vegetarian ramen which was great. The portion size is amazingly huge but I have a belly for ramen and so I ate all of it. Their sauces are definitely commendable and you should try them out. They also had a free sake shot for select guests in that room. Definitely a good buzz. I also tried their lychee spritzer which was average although I was expecting it to be much better than I thought it would be. Overall a great place for ramen.

Great spot! I almost forgot how good this place is. Asher was our server. He answered all our questions. I had the classic chicken Katsu bowl and my wife had ramen. It was all delicious. I thought we were done until Asher told us about the late night menu which had drink and food specials. We had the dumplings and 2 shots of hot sake for $1 each. We sat I. The patio which was illuminated by red paper lanterns to set the mood. Can't wait to come back and try the curry. Highly recommend.

From the moment that you walk in, you get the feeling that you stepped into some Back Alley, Ramen shop in Kyoto. I mean that in the best way. The motif is distinctly Japanese and the menu is a little bit of eclectic. But I suggest that you start off with the scotch egg. Yes, that's right - SCOTCH EGG. If you've ever had a scotch egg, you'll like this one because it's taken to a different level by using Panko as the crust. The egg in the middle is a perfectly cooked Ramen egg, and the combo in fusion of traditional meats. Japanese is amazing. Next, let's talk about the Ramen. There are other things on the menu, but why not go for what this place really does well. For this adventure, I chose the Japanese curry Ramen.. The thing I like Japanese curry for is the distinctive heat and bite. It meets all the criteria of a good curry sauce, but there's a very subtle wasabi element to it it doesn't just add heat, it adds punch. The curry Ramen had a very tangy and warming field to it right along with the perfectly cooked Ramen noodles and the perfectly cooked chicken Katsu cutlet. The service was excellent by the way, and our server was always attentive. There's a back room that has more of a cocktail bar feel to it, and that's where you can get a variety of beverages. If you're feeling adventurous, I would suggest the Japanese whisky. Enjoy a glass of Japanese malt is a scotch egg. I think the combination pairs perfectly.

This place is dope, we took a chance on a place that was close to our hotel and it did not disappoint! The ramen was insane, made especially delicious with the black garlic oil. The servers were so kind and attentive, we were sat quickly and received very efficient service. The cocktail lounge was a little loud for our liking, but we loved the vibe by the bar with the lanterns and there was ample seating. Excited to rate this place highly so others can find it!

What a cool spot, definitely recommend the back area if everyone is 21+. Menu options are all so good, especially the soba pork belly special I got. Ambience is so cool and drinks were great. No complaints!

The food was delicious, the staff was understanding and helped me choose the Shoyu Ramen--which was incredible. The second time I went, I decided to try the Tonkotsu Ramen which was also a great choice. I love both and I will be coming back to Attack of the Tatsu!

Attack of the Tatsu is Chattanooga ramen bliss. Started with a mini katsu (crispy perfection), leveled up with tempura shishitos and that addictive dipping sauce, and ended up swimming in a massive bowl of shoyu ramen that I'd happily slurp on repeat. Big shoutout to Olivia behind the bar--keeping the vibes strong and the drinks on point. This place isn't just dinner, it's a whole mood.

Tried this spot on our last day in Chattanooga! The interior is super cute and trendy. There's a bright, airy seating area in the front and a moodier section in the back with dimmer lighting. We chose to sit in the front since the music in the back was a little too loud for us. For appetizers, we ordered the sliders and chicken karaage, both were delicious! For mains, I had the Pork Katsu Bowl and my boyfriend got the Menchi Katsu Sando. My katsu was on the dry side but still tasty. I actually liked his sando better, and I'd probably order that next time if we're back in Chattanooga. Service was decent, not very attentive but our waitress was nice.

Came here for dinner on a friend's recommendation. We were in town for business, and I was excited at the prospect of good ramen. OVERVIEW/AMBIANCE: Attack of the Tatsu is located on a main road, but the entrances are either in a (slightly creepy) back alley or on a side street off the main road. The storefront is small, but if you go further in (and you have to be 21+ I believe), you can sit in the cooler back room with red lanterns lining the ceiling and a view of the kitchen. Flat water was available tableside in repurposed Japanese alcohol glass bottles, which I thought was very cool. I will say, about halfway through the meal, my eyes were constantly stinging and watering because of the smoke coming from the kitchen. SERVICE: Our server was great, she welcomed us, walked us through the menu options, and made some recommendations of her favorites. FOOD: The menu was plentiful, with lots of options. I actually struggled to decide what to get. For appetizers, I got their edamame, but didn't love the sesame dressing they did on it. Maybe it's the purist in me - just give me clean, steamed edamame with a sprinkling of salt. The dressing took away from the edamame's flavor for me. I also tried their Katsu slider, it was pretty good, had a good crisp from the breading. The tonkotsu ramen was a bit of a let down for me - the broth was watered down, the pork cuts were i think BBQ based, and the noodles were undercooked. RECOMMENDATION: I'm unsure if I'd visit this place again to try other menu items if we were ever in town. I feel like they took Japanese cuisine and opted to make a fusion or put their own spin on it, which is fine, but I am a fan of authentic Japanese cuisine and flavors - simple, clean, and perfected over their long history, so I don't think this was my cup of tea overall.

Visiting Tennessee during a rainy day, I was craving ramen so bad and decided to try Attack of the Tatsu . It was packed (always a good sign), but the food came out so good it was 100% worth the wait. The whole place is such a vibe super dim lighting, cozy, and lowkey feels like you stepped into an anime scene. Even the bathroom had anime playing on the TV, which honestly just made the whole experience even cooler. Our server was so sweet and made everything feel welcoming despite how busy it was. If you're ever in the area and want solid ramen with a fun atmosphere, this spot is a must. I'd definitely come back.

My humans enjoyed sampling several whiskeys while I worked hard supervising the tasting process from my blanket-covered seat at the bar. We ordered the Asian q burger and the mushroom melt burger and it took quite a while for them to come out and when they did they had unfortunately been left on the grill for way too long and were charred and crunchy. One set of our fries was cold and the bun to burger ratio was extremely off. Luckily, the staff agreed that our burgers were accidentally overcooked and they remade them no questions asked. The remade burgers were moist and better but still not fantastic. They were just burgers with minimal toppings on them. Not really seasoned and the flavor came from the toppings themselves. The buns were still too big for the burgers so there was a lot of extra bread and they have potential to be great but they were just average. This is an open floor plan, modern decor restaurant complete with a lengthy bar area. It is very open and modern except for the kitchen, which remains partially visible through windows from the main dining area. It was a Wednesday night and was surprisingly slow at 6:30, in terms of the crowd, or lack thereof, with only three other tables occupied during our visit. Our server, Jonathon, was very polite, attentive, and professional. Especially in contrast to my observation of the other server, whom I observed going through the motions of waiting in tables like a bored veteran server who might have been half drunk. Just an observation, but he kind of had our attention while serving a nearby table. He clearly knew what he was doing and mostly pulled off a good job, it was mostly timing and tone of voice and the way he was gliding across the room. Good for that guy. It was pasta night and that meant pasta specials, so I figured this was one of those, "our best game" dishes and ordered the bolognese with rigatoni. I also ordered the Appalachian Salad, which was spinach, radicchio, blue cheese, pine nuts, 5 oz beef tenderloin tip, red wine vinaigrette. I asked for medium rare and got well done. But both were fantastic. I did not think the bolognese would satisfy my appetite, it was filling, but I did t want to be hungry an hour later and the steak with salad deliciously helped. My wife had the herb crusted salmon, chive-pepper-corn couscous ragout, fried basil. And there was a lot of couscous, probably a cup and a half if not two cups. This too was delicious. I was intrigued by one menu item we did not try for $25 as an appetizer, deep fried egg yolks with crème fraiche and caviar. I know to get that, the yolks must be frozen, then breaded and fried to be crisp on the outside but runny yolk inside. I couldn't interest my wife in this adventure, but someone else try them and let us know? Staff were all very hospitable. Free valet parking for a couple of hours, right at the entrance in fact. Value was reasonable and good quality, quantity and flavors were very good. It didn't blow us away, but we were not disappointed. The only crazy thing was $14 for a small pour on a glass of Chardonnay, but that's the way it goes for dining out nowadays. This was a decent choice for our dinner out while visiting Chattanooga. I will say, Jonathon, our waiter, did a five star job.
