    The Attic Gallery

" Nice Small Art Gallery " This Attic Gallery in Vicksburg offers a wide range of Art work which includes Posters, Photographs, Sculptures, Blown Glass, and many Original Art Works. The Attic gallery is very small and every time you turn around you see something else that attracts your attention.

The Attic, positioned right at the start of the commercial district on Washington Street, sits like a metaphorical crossroads of culture in the state of Mississippi. All manifestations of creativity - from paintings to sketches to dioramas using found pieces - push this gallery to the edges, making a delightful playground for any art lover. I debated for a considerable time in front of a fabulous piece involving Elvis Presley's head superimposed on a guitar, but sadly, I had nowhere to display it at home. What a nice problem to have - admiring raw, authentic folk art and desperately trying to figure out how to make it work in your own home. Lesley and Daniel themselves are kind and delightfully kooky - a tall order to fill in a state whose culture loves its artist community but quietly layers on the weight of suggested conformity. It's my wish to figure out how to support the Attic Gallery for years to come. I might just have to move into a new place.

Best part of my visit to Vicksburg. Wonderful gallery above coffee shop on Washington Street with an amazing array of local /Southern art. All sorts of mediums and themes. Be sure to visit when at the lower Mississippi River Museum across the street!

So much here- signs, glassware, folk art boxes, clay masks, the place is crammed with artwork floor to ceiling, wall to wall.

Located on the shore of the Yazoo River where it meets the "Mighty" Mississippi, the Mulberry (a…read moreWyndham property) is near the "heart" of downtown Vicksburg. However, even though it's close to downtown and the riverfront, the views are a little more industrial rather than historical. However, you are just footsteps away from lots of restaurants and local attractions. This is not the Ritz Carlton, so if that is what you are expecting, you will be in for a surprise. This is an old building. Three floors of this hotel have been converted into apartments., so I am guessing this is a form of steady income for the slow season. The walls in our room were painted concrete, therefore, it was a little "rough around the edges". However, our room was clean and the air conditioner was freezing cold, which I loved. You can crank down the thermostat down to 60 degrees and it will get there pretty quickly. The lobby was also very clean and there was a little nook with a pool table that we enjoyed, The swimming pool was very enjoyable. The water was nice but they needed to strain it as it had some leaves at the bottom. Also, there was only one luggage cart that I saw and it was covered in pet hair as if someone gave their pet dog a ride on it. The rest of their carts were like laundry "wagons" and they are really not made for luggage. I stand by my 3-star rating of good as "just barely" good. The front desk personnel were all very nice so if you are looking for a "plain" clean room at a good price, this may be a good place for you.

This place is STRUGGLING! If the week of the Miss Mississippi pageant is booked solid, they better…read moreget their act together before then !! I honestly don't know how it is staying in business. The entrance was nasty. The pool was disgusting-as in a health violation but there was no sign indicating the pool is closed. Because according to the staff, the pool was open... Garbage cans left out in common areas. The ice machine is broken. The shower leaked. The handicap access at the entrance was broken-the lift to get patrons from the front door down to the lobby is broken. The Internet and television were out the entire time we there. Plus, employees were parked in a CLEARLY marked no parking area at the front entrance where guests should be able to unload their luggage. We will be calling the general manager to get a refund. And if that doesn't work, we are calling Wyndham's headquarters. I realize this hotel received the Best Hotel in Vicksburg Award in 2023 according to a sign in the hotel. But 3 years later, it has turned into a DUMP! Perhaps 3 years ago it was nice, but clearly nothing has been maintained since then.
