I rent a small storage unit in this location. It's super convenient since it's close to my…read moreneighborhood. They have different sized units and have an electronic gate. They give you a code specific to you for entering and exiting. There have been two incidents in the last couple of years that prevent me from giving them a higher rating. My unit got broken into and various items were taken. I didn't find out about this until I showed up to find it with a different lock. I was shocked they hadn't reached out to me about it and the lack of information was astounding given that they're supposed to have cameras. They said I had to file a police report if I wanted to get any more details. This was very disappointing so now I keep a better inventory of what I have and don't keep anything valuable. The second incident was the gate not working. The keypad displayed a message saying the network was down. I called the support number since no staff was on site despite it being working hours. They didn't know what the issue was, only that the system was down and that no employees were able to be on site to assist until the following day. I proceeded to panic because I had an event in a couple of hours and I needed to get a lot of items out for it. I told them that was unacceptable and that I would have to try to get in somehow. Thankfully an employee arrived about 30 minutes after and helped me in. It was so stressful. I now try to go at least a day before to make sure this doesn't happen again. The only reason why I don't move my unit is because it's so close to me. When it comes to pricing, it's pretty comparable to other places.

If you are like me and don't answer unknown calls, returning the manager's call may be a problem, as all calls go to a call center, and of course they have no idea who called me or why. I would really like to know what they are going to do to prevent future break ins, but that information hasn't been forthcoming. Rent here at your own risk.

I was past my reservation date(which was through a third party) getting to the office to actually rent a unit but the unit i needed was still available. Now, aspects that cost them a 5 rating. Mandatory insurance: 1 of two things, either they expect potential losses of property therefore ins would be a substantial concept or if company feels safe within their own environment, why are we paying for things they are not supposed to let happen?? Isnt that the basic idea of storage, a safe place to store items! That also leads to my next point..Locks! Only a disc lock is acceptable and any other has a risk of being removed?! Ill be honest here, i don't know how much of this is common storage facility policies and how much is more lot or company related. But heres the clincher, property maintenance! Area was clean but not properly maintained. Any area not paved or directly connected to the office was heavy with (i think they are refered to as bullhead) stickers, the ones that get stuck in paws and fur of 4legged friends or in shoelaces, socks, toes, pantlegs, i think you get the idea. They cover the field from fence TO the street, and include by front parking lot on property side and on street side of drainage ditch/creek running parallel with Peoria. Any body on foot to/from would have to walk in aprox 16" shoulder along side traffic on south peoria, or get feet fulls of stickers or cross Peoria in a non designated area. As a sidenote not all offers apply to all or any unit rented. Makes sense to me but further proof of-if you see it online it must be...??? Theres my pre move in review, do i still get my $10 discount? Thank you.

So have to say this review is on the process of doing a lease on a storage unit…read more My husband and I in September last year rented a storage unit. I did it all wrong to be honest. I did not go look at it and I did not do much research. We rented from another company, we rented a climate control unit it was in a gated area but the building it was in was never locked. Our unit was broken into in a few months. We asked them to secure the building as they have other locations and the building is secure. The fence around the unit could be climbed. We tried to work with them but had no luck. All that said yesterday we went to Extra Space Storage to look at a unit, find out their security of the units and how secure the units were. As I learned my lesson to not just go online and rent a unit. The experience was amazing the Manager Joseph was a great help. ALL units are indoor and ina. Locked in area no one without access should ever be in there. I felt peoples stuff was very secure, not to say that things won't happen there is always that chance but ai don't feel that it is easy at all for it to happen. We saw the security cameras that are all around inside and we're working an a huge display screen. (Not like our other location that after it was broken into said their cameras have not been working for a while.) These units are all inside the old JC Penny's area or Promenade Mall at 41st and Yale. You drive in the gate inside the building and can get close to your unit or have a drive up unit that you can pull up too. Ours is not a drive up but very close to where you can park. They have carts inside to load and unload your vehicle or storage unit. The lock system they use is a cylinder lock and harder for it to be broken into so that was another security measure I loved.

It is not too much to ask of a business owner to care about what his employee did to a client. My…read moregoal with this review has always been to warn all women to RECORD EVERYTHING and do not be alone if you can help it anytime you have strange men in your home. Bison was hired by DVIS (Domestic Violence Intervention Services) to get me safely out of my home last August 2025 and Bison failed to provide this. I did everything I was supposed to do and reported what happened to DVIS. That former case mgr told me to call Bison. This in the middle of an out-of-town relocation for my own safety and during recovery from two illnesses while experiencing DV. The owner has the audacity to suggest on Yelp 2 things: That I was reaching out to him (reframing) and that I was somehow responsible for what took place, which is a very interesting way to look at things. In truth, I reached out to the business the week before moving day because I knew I wasn't going to be ready for them to move everything by that Friday. The DVIS case manager, who is a good friend of the business owner (her words) told me to call them and asked for extra help. I have chronic Lyme disease and was recovering from mononucleosis (reactivated Epstein Barr virus due to extreme stress). I'm also a senior. Bison Moving said they had no availability. I was left with no one to turn to for help. The business owner has recently stated on here that he fired his employee, J, over the incident. Good to know -- when I called to speak to the owner in Sept 2025, I was met with hostility and no update. But this predator is still out there somewhere, stated to me that he'd worked there for 5 years, and was 27 at the time. He still felt comfortable enough to text me a week after the move "to check on me and see if I needed any more help". It was scary. He showed no anxiety while in my home on that Friday and Saturday, was very superficially charming and arrogant. He had likely done this before and will likely do it again, only next time it may be worse. Women -- take precautions with all strange men coming into your home. You must protect yourselves from these types because they're everywhere right now. Bison Moving's crew walked into my home knowing why they were there -- J expressed his sympathy and asked for a hug first thing, and it felt icky. He knew I was vulnerable, exhausted, and desperate because he knew DVIS had contracted the move. They all knew. He later asked if he could take his shirt off. I fed two of the crew members because one of them told me he had not even eaten before showing up to work and responded that he was hungry when I asked. And I worked right alongside them, even though I was very ill. At the end of that day when we were all on the elevator, J asked me if I was going to give them a big tip. It was a horrible experience all around. And then J showed up the next day since he just happened to be free on Saturday -- to use more coercive control and assault me, and make some good cash. He told me it was fine with Bison and he did it all the time. He was the team leader and the other two guys said nothing. Fortunately, another company was hired to finish the job at a later date by moving me to my actual new city, and they were fantastic. Zero issues, I felt safe and they exhibited total professionalism, so it is possible.

Four hours in while they were still loading, I offered to buy lunch. The driver quickly said that they would rather have a big tip. The driver told me during this time that he didn't think the truck was big enough for everything and it would require two trips. They gouged a couple of walls being careless. The driver assured me that he would take pictures and it would be fixed. He never did. Upon arrival at my new home, they again gouged walls with the furniture and were in such a hurry to leave that they left most of the furniture wrapped in plastic and blankets. I still tipped the crew but also emailed the company. They did offer to fix the damaged walls and unwrap furniture. At that point I had already taken care of everything myself.
