What can I say! Of the 14 days of my Paris visit, 5 days I did not eat there, because it was closed on Sunday and Monday and the May 1 holiday! There was an ongoing joke about "small portion" desserts, which are anything but! I have been coming here for 5 years since discovering it passing on the 2234 bus taking me to RER A. Luckily, I now belong to the Clean Plate Club because the spousal team will not let you leave anything on the plate, which is impossible anyway, as everything is cooked to perfection and absolutely the best meal(s) you will have anywhere in France. I found this restaurant on yelp and it had all excellent reviews on the food and about the owners of the restaurant so we thought we would give it a try. I can't even say enough about the wonderful experience we had. Our party consisted of four and we all ordered a variety of dishes so we could sample each of the meals. All of the food was amazing.. However, the most wonderful part of our dinner was meeting the husband and wife owners. They made our dining experience magnifique!! They were charming, funny and by the time we left we ended up feeling like we were family!! I can honestly say I have never had a more unique and attentive service. The wonderful restaurant was a convenient surprise. Being from the USA, we were the first to arrive and we're greeted by the chef himself. He was most friendly and speaks English well enough to tell us of this dream to serve people like us his special cuisine. My wife and I both started with the escargot which were flawlessly prepare in the traditional way. Our main courses were Riz de Veau and Filet de Bar (striped bass) which let us know we hit a home run in finding this place. The wine we shared was a Muscadet Serves er Maine that was a perfect match as the chef (who with his wife are very hands-on) recommended. The tarte au Figues was enough for both of us. This is mostly a restaurant for locals and seating is limited so reservations are advised (but the chef lamented that business is still down from its pre-COVID highs). This is probably one of the best dining experiences I've ever had in my life. And hands down the best meal I had in Paris. Though this isn't located in Paris (a little less than an hour by car outside in the suburbs), if you happen to be in the area such as visiting Disneyland, then I highly recommend stopping by and having one of the best dinners ever! It is ran by this lovely married couple who converted the entire first story of their home into a restaurant. So you are pretty much getting the best hospitality you can imagine by the actual owners, serving you at their own house. They are both very friendly and you can feel the warmth of their welcoming the moment you walk in and take a seat. Not only that but they are both hilarious and seem to crack some pretty funny jokes (especially the wife). Despite having our friend translate everything for us into English (not every time), we can tell she was being sincere and had the best sense of humor ever. Anyhow, let's get to the food! I can't even recall what exactly we had ordered but I do remember having two dishes of literally everything that was on their menu for that night (for our group of 6). And what makes it even more awesome is that they grow much of the produce themselves right there at their home, kudos for that! Ordering dessert is a must. I'm telling you, regardless of how full you are, you must take a bite or two of their tasty sweets. The wife was nice enough to bring out a bottle of some liquor she made herself at home out of pear. Wonderful meal in quaint small town cafe. Lobster bisque, sea bass with seasonal vegetables, a light white wine, the name of which escapes me. The food is stupendous. The single man operation should not scare anyone off. The daily menu is well prepared and brilliant in its simplicity. We had the duck as our main entree. This was recommended by our concierge as her favorite restaurant and where she brings all her guests. We understand why this is her top rated spot. Located in the living room of a delightful couple's home, it is small and very sweet. This charming husband and wife do it all! Three course lunch for 11 euros. Delicious and we were stuffed! We had vegetable soup, boucher, an omelette, chicken with rice, apple tart and a raspberry/fig mousse tart. Clean your plate or Madame will fuss at you! We had such a lovely time we returned for a second, equally delicious lunch! Melon with ham, beef bourguignon, chocolate tort, and meringue aux glances with several ice cream options. The second time we were here there were only locals and they were all so welcoming. Wow! What an experience. We found this place on our first night visiting France and we're sure happy we did. If you're looking for an authentic French meal, this is the place. Each dish (which was individually prepared by the wonderful chef/owner) was delicious and meticulously crafted. From the scallops and the duck confit to the raspberry mousse made with fresh raspberries from their garden and the deconstructed macaroon, the meal couldn't have been more enjoyable. This was by far the best dining experience I had during our 2 weeks in Europe. As Roger M. mentions it is run by a husband and wife who converted the first floor of their home into a restaurant. He does the cooking and she manages the front of the house. There are only 6 tables that can accommodate about 30 people max. The menu is limited to 3 appetizers (entrees), dinners (plates) and desserts. Each portion however is HUGE. For starters we had escargot, salad with goat cheese and melon with ham. My husband was served about half of a melon with prosciutto topped with port. My son's escargot were some of the biggest snails I have ever seen and my goat cheese salad was perfectly dressed with the equivalent of a log of goat cheese on toast points. Our plates were equally as good. My husband got adventurous and ordered the tongue which was wonderfully tender. My salmon was expertly prepared and our son's chicken was extremely tender with a delicate mushroom sauce. Each dish was served with roasted potatoes and cauliflower which was to die for. I have to write to them for the recipe since my husband would not let me ask while I was there. The desserts are created from ingredients from their respective gardens. My husband ordered the rhubarb flan made from rhubarb from the husband's garden while my son an I ordered the cherry clafloutis which cherries from the wife's garden. For the life of me I do not know why this restaurant was not packed even on a Wednesday night. We were the only people in the restaurant and were treated like royalty. Just prior to leaving were were given a complimentary shot of homemade potato alcohol as a digestif. During the course of the meal, we had little conversations with the couple and learned that they have no children. The wife said she had a cat and a husband. While we were waiting for our taxi the husband brought their cat our to meet us. What a lovely couple with an excellent restaurant. This is an amazing restaurant and the couple that run/own it are so nice. We had a fabulous meal including melted goat cheese on toast salad, salmon and melon w prosciutto, duck, steak and fish entries and apple tartan and meringue dessert. The service was unassuming and it was truly a lovely evening. Great way to spend our first night near Paris. We will likely go back before we leave. You can't go do better for food and service and enjoyment. Highly recommend if y9u are staying at or near Disneyland Paris. read more
