When the weather is nice, the terrasse is usually pretty busy with people having drinks/coffee, but since the space is so large, it is typically not difficult to get a seat. I had previously come once for drinks with a friend in the summer of 2020, when the outdoor seating was especially appreciated for pandemic reasons. Then in early December 2021 I came for a second time to have dinner, this time inside the restaurant. We had made reservations for 2 for a Sunday night around 8 pm, but we probably needn't have bothered since there was plenty of seating still available when we arrived. The server was friendly and spoke English pretty well. The menu was varied and notably had some nice-looking vegetarian options for my friend who is vegetarian. I got the Papa salad since it was packed with ingredients I really like, such as pears, halloumi and roasted pumpkin. My friend got the butternut lasagne, as it looked like a unique dish. Both of these mains were 17€ each and most of the items on the menu appeared to run under 20€. Both of our mains were pretty huge, especially by Parisian standards. My salad was very hearty, and I managed to finish it all since I hadn't eaten much that day, but on a normal day I could see myself being able to take half of it home in a doggy bag. The ingredients were fresh and the balance of sweet from the pumpkin and fruit and the savory from the falafel and the halloumi was very nice. My friend really enjoyed her lasagne, but couldn't finish it and took her leftovers home with her. We both ordered a dessert, I the café gourmand (which is a coffee served with a sampler of small desserts) and my friend a lemon sorbet. Compared to other café gourmand desserts I've had, this one was pretty average so I probably wouldn't go out of my way to order it again. It had a chocolate mousse, panna cotta, a scoop of ice cream, a thin cookie, a cube of cake and a piece of daim candy. My friend did enjoy her sorbet a lot. This was a nice place to get a filling meal in a chic atmosphere. The terrasse is definitely one of the restaurant's best assets, a nice place to grab drinks or a snack with friends when the weather is nice.

We love good unpretentious French cuisine at an affordable price that has great value and La Fresque hits it every time. Their lunch menu at 20 euros include an appy and a main or main and dessert. For the appy, there is always a choice of 5 different things and at least 4 to 5 for the main and 4 to 5 choices for dessert. This week, we have already been 3 times for lunch and a sample of what we had: apples...bulots; home made gnocchi with cream sauce; quail with morel mushrooms; herring and mackerel in a curry sauce. mains....faux filet of beef (steak) with pepper sauce with scalloped potatoes; pork tenderloin with a mango sauce with braised leek and fennel; duck breast with a side of sweet potato puree; beef tartare with roasted potatoes and salad. Everything we have had this week have been absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Steaks and duck breast are not overcooked and so flavourful. A glass of very good wine is only 3 euros and a house bottle is 12 euros. Service is always efficient and friendly at La Fresque and they will never rush you for your table. There is a choice of a table outside of inside and you can people watch during your meal since the restaurant is across from Les Halles shopping center with pedestrian walkway only. We love eating at La Fresque and you get excellent value for home cooked French food that is a good portion. We will be returning again in a few days for more great dinners and lunches.

Le Pas Sage served up traditional French bistro fare made with fresh ingredients and a modern, upscale presentation in a very casual setting. It was located on what can only be described as a fairly busy but seedy side street/alley replete with several sex shops up and down the street from it. However, we weren't deterred by the colorful neighborhood, which only added to quirky charm of our experience. The weather was perfect, so we sat at one of its handful of tables set up outside. The menu was small, but listed some interesting, if not delicious, offerings. We decided to go the 3-course prix fixe route (39€/person). Our meal started off with a delicious amuse (a small bisque whose ingredients I don't recall). I had the Tartare de bœuf topped with foie gras and fresh herbs. The foie gras atop the tartare was a beautifully sinful indulgence, but the brightly colored fresh herbs gave the dish a wonderful flavor, aromatic, and color contrast that put it over the top. The wife and I decided on the Côte de bœuf (12€ supplement/person) for our main course. Talk about a meat-lovers wet dream! It was over 2 lbs of beefy goodness served on a cutting board with grilled tomatoes and also bone marrow. I love marrow! The rib steak was prepared bone-in (the bone was removed for service), nicely seasoned, and cooked perfectly to the Chef's recommended medium rare. We accompanied our food with a 2011 Jean-Luc Colombo Cornas Les Terres Brulees, a full-bodied syrah that complemented the juicy, meaty Côte de bœuf amazingly well. For dessert, I had the Soupe de fruits, a pleasant, not too sweet, end to my meal with its assortment of fruits and sorbet served in a fruit gelée. Le Pas Sage served up a tremendous meal! Considering what we had and its quality beginning-to-end, it was also surprisingly reasonable. Service was friendly and solid throughout. Le Pas Sage was truly enjoyable and a place I would gladly return.

We started with cocktails and a side of potatoes with au poivre sauce - not listed on the menu but the person we were with had just gotten them there last week and couldn't stop raving about them. I was in dire need of some energy and noticed they had liquor and an espresso machine so i asked if they could make an espresso martini, they said yes, I wouldn't personally consider what I got to be an espresso martini, but it was off menu so I didn't expect much. My boyfriend got an aperol spritz and that was definitely the right choice. After indulging in the piping hot dish of potatoes, which were very filling and quite delicious, we opted to share two entrees between the three of us. We got the beef steak and the beef carpaccio. The steak was pretty chewy, not one of the better ones I had while visiting France and Spain. The carpaccio was better, but still not one of my favorite meals we had. The star of the show was the potatoes, the service, and the cafe gourmand (selection of desserts).
