LOVE this place. Went here with our business partners in a beautiful section of Paris in the 2nd Arrondisement or district. Awesome! I give it a 4.5 star......
1. Menu - OK, I really cannot read french well, however, they specialize in Couscous and plenty of choices. I give it a 4 star.
2. Ambiance - Quite large place with plenty of seating. Very busy and full, but not overcrowded. Can get quite warm inside, so be careful how you dress, especially if the weather is cold outside, it will be warm inside. 4 star
3. Food - Absolutely fantastic. Couscous is a north african cuisine that is like having stew. The couscous is a grain that you would use like a rice. You have a soup based vegetable broth that you poor over the couscous and then you put on top the barbequed or stewed meat. There were plenty of choices like chicken, lamb, mutton. If you like lamb (L'agneau), it was very tender and tasted very nice. The Mutton (mouton) being much older type of lamb meat was stewed first and it was amazingly tender and tasty, on the bone, which is how I prefer it. The chicken was simply dripping off the bone as well. If you like stews, thick soups, this is the place for you! 5 star
4. Dessert - While not a huge dessert fan, I sampled their dessert plate that had plenty of small pastries that were pistachio based pastries as well as some that were like baklava. very nice. I actually ordered the cheese, which was nice quite a bit, so this is good for sharing. Many others ordered ice cream type of desserts that all looked like small sundaes and this was nice too. 4 star
5. Service - Very nice and accommodating. We had originally reserved for 9, but needed space for 10 and this required adding another table to our setting. They accommodated us without any issue. The waiters were all nice and the manager came by and force fed us the dessert sampling since we were either all very full or a bit "shy". 5 star
GK says, this is the place to check out if you want couscous. Also, the area is closed off to traffic, it is about a 2-3 square block area in the heart of the 2nd District and this place has plenty of restaurants, bars and people. It seems not too touristy, and more local. For sure it is a pleasant area to hang out... read more
