The place was rather empty on a Sun night so I was a little concerned. I had the fried calamari with a sauce that was so good. My entree was the steak frites which was cooked the way I liked it. This restaurant is attached to the Hilton London Hyde Park hotel. The afternoon was lovely so decided to sit out on the terrace. The service was good and friendly even though they were busy. I ordered a white peach Bellini and the beef carpaccio. Firstly, the Bellini cost £17 and was a tiny glass. It did not taste peachy at all so kinda disappointing. The carpaccio was okay. It was on the thicker side and while a good portion it had a pesto based sauce and puffed cracked wheat or rice. It was also pricey. I am grateful for the discount I got since I am a guest of the hotel so for that they're getting 3 stars. We had breakfast there today too and it was okay. Their coffee is from a machine and does not taste good. I think the food is better and less expensive at the local cafés. I haven't tried other dishes but likely won't go back. Had a reservation so was able to sit down right away. After sitting, no one came over to give us a menu. No one came to give us water. Had to wait 15+ minutes for each of those items. We got a brunch menu but we wanted the other menu. Took another 15+ minutes to get that, and had to ask 2 different people. Mind you, the place was not packed at all. Contrary to the "all-day menu" we found online, the "all-day" menu is in fact, not served all day, and only after 12pm. After spending over 45 minutes to get started, we ordered 1 dish off the brunch menu and asked to get the lobster spaghetti "at 12pm" when the other menu opened. Food took ridiculously long to come but they said they were making the lobster spaghetti early for us (food came around 12:03pm) so our 2 dishes could come together. Ok that's nice I guess. Lobster spaghetti was good it had a good amount of lobster. We also got the English breakfast and I especially enjoyed the beans, they very sweet. Bathroom is in the hotel next door. I would not come back and I would not recommend this place due to the poor service. read more

We saw this place the night before after dinner and decided to try it for brunch. We got seated right away, which was nice, but it took more than 15 minutes for someone to take our order, and honestly, only four tables had customers inside. Eventually, our server came to take our orders. No introduction, no have you been here nothing. READY TO ORDER, and she's looking at the tablet, not at us wasn't very helpful we asked questions she was very vague with her answer eventually we got the food disappointment and honestly we are a few bites. Not worth the wait or the pounds, she brought us a basket of bread that we got charged 7 pounds even though we said no bread. She didn't check back after bringing our food didn't see her again at our table. It could have been her off day, so she wasn't focused but lousy service. The French host/waiter was absolutely terrible & by far the rudest restaurant worker I have ever encountered. I had forgotten to cancel my reservation for that morning & he greets me by saying I am an hour and 20 minutes late - insanely rude off the bat. To which I respond by explaining that I must have forgotten to cancel the reservation and I am very sorry but I do have one for the time that I arrived. He then rolled his eyes at me and was continuously rude to me throughout the experience. I made a mistake, apologized & the way he responded was so unprofessional and honestly, very strange. THE MOOD: A very convenient location and less than a few steps away from Queensway station [Central Line] and within walking distance from two bus stops [Buses 70,94,148, N207]. The hotel itself needs some work to update its simple decor but the restaurant itself is up to current standards being large and bright with a semi-industrial and cottage feel. Within easy reach of the park should you eat a little too much and need a nice walk after. Tables are spaced out well so you don't feel crammed in. THE FOOD: Tried the new Vegan menu and my first time trying a vegan meal. On what you hear I thought ok I am not too hungry so might as well try this menu just in case the meal will be bland and tasteless as per my personal views, which I must add not based on any fact. For the starter I went with the Cauliflower, which came with a light and smooth creamy mash. Now the mash potatoe base did not disappoint but the cauliflower was as I thought turned out to be both bland and tasteless. So now I was a little more worried about the forthcoming main course. My main course selection was the portobello and black bean burger with dip and fries. The fries had no seasoning but they were still delicious. You also get a homemade dip with a tomato base and aniseed overtone but really complimented the dish well and a good dip can really add to a dish to lift it. The Black Bean burger was both crispy and tasty, albeit a little dry but having the fresh lettuce really worked well and not having a bun also means you can finish the dish and I cannot see the need for a bun on this dish as it would only take away from the taste of the burger itself. I was glad I ordered this item as my faith in Vegan meals was re-established and I will be trying more in the future. THE VERDICT: A great location and with good service and nice and bright decor this is a pleasant place to have a great lunch. Unfortunately turning up to an empty restaurant just before 7pm on a Thursday evening doesn't bode well. If I hadn't bought 2 vouchers for £15 each (starter and main from the prix fixe and a glass of prosecco and macaron each) that expired that week I would have not sat down buuuut I was hungry and the restaurant itself is really nicely decorated with a lovely bakery at the entrance showcasing their desserts, pastries and bread, sooo I thought we should give it a go! I'd booked a table however obviously there was no need. We also tried to explain that we had prepaid voucher but the waitress didn't really listen and ushered us to a seat at the front of the restaurant. The fixed price menu (at £15 for 2 courses anyway) gives you 3 options per course. For starter there was a choice of soup of the day (tomato and basil), Serrano and fig salad and red mullet. For mains there was a seabream dish, steak (for an extra £3 supplement) or butternut squash gnocchi. We were brought tap water and our glass of fizz after explaining it was part of our deal (she just looked at us blankly) along with some warm crusty bread and butter. Both fizz and bread were good! We both ordered the Serrano and fig salad. It came about 10 minutes after ordering which I think was about right. The presentation was good, portion reasonable, ham quality good and it all together was a good dish. For main I ordered the 6oz steak (medium rare) and chips and my bf ordered the gnocchi. It arrived and I almost laughed out loud! The gnocchi portion was so so small! I cut in to my steak and unfortunately it was quite rare so had to send it back. The waitress again looked dumb founded however another waiter brought it back with an apology and it was perfectly cooked. Overall it wasn't a bad meal however there were a few chewy/gristly bits which meant a 1/5 of my steak wasn't enjoyable/edible. Chips weren't bad - well seasoned but a bit frozen chip-sequel. I tried a tincy bit of gnocchi and was quite impressed with the flavours. My bf was still hungry so ordered a chocolate soufflé off the menu which was actually very good and then we were brought our macaroons with a filter coffee. Macaroons were disappointing as a bit over baked with only one flavour available. After that all the staff seemed to disappear. We eventually got their attention and asked for the bill to be charged for the whole meal! In the end we decided to just go to the till and sort it out ourselves. We additionally paid £12 for the coffee and dessert (requesting they take the £3 supplement off for the faff with the steak) so in total paid just under £45 for two. Not bad, however the service and ambience were a serious let down and some of the food was disappointing. Unfortunately too many negatives outweighing some of their good work. Although the food is good, I would give it zero stars for experience. Tried to charge me an extra £37 (someone else's meal) and was told they'd "investigate it" instead of owning up to their mistake. Ordered a Diet Coke and a tonic then watched it sit on the bar for 15+ minutes while everyone worked around it. By the time is got to the table, ice was melted down. Terrible staff providing terrible service. Everyone working looks like they would rather both be. There's a reason it's empty on the inside. read more

Don't come if you're hungry or in a rush. We came in for Sunday morning brunch. We'd booked in advance (fortunately as was surprisingly busy). We both ordered egg dishes - they were very small in size. My poached eggs on toast included half a piece of luke-warm bread (I won't call it toast, it was clearly cooked over a candle), half a soggy tomato and a single piece of kale (I'm not exaggerating). After trying to get the bill for approximately 10 minutes I made my way up to the till and managed to grab the waitress before she scuttled off elsewhere (clearly not her fault, understaffed). We were looking for a little lighter fare after restaurant eating for a week . We were able to do that here. I had a salad Nicoise and my husband had a small plate of ravioli. The tuna was perfectly lightly seared on the outside with a rare middle . Some restaurants who do this , give you a piece of tuna that is actually cold but in this restaurant it was nicely warm . The rest of the salad was crisp, fresh and delicious. The ravioli was a small but reasonable and exactly the amount we were looking for. The sauce had both a tomato and a pesto taste. Everything tasted perfect. The restaurant was a little noisy with a family of kids in soccer uniforms talking loudly near us. After eating their cakes the preceded to run around the restaurant kicking a ball and bumping into our chair. read more

On a sunny day me and my new boyfriend decided to opt for A nice break from lounging in Hyde park. I was debating between this and urban meadow café. But ended up going with this as the outside terrace and interior was welcoming. As I entered inside the atmosphere of a contemporary French styled restaurant with a romantic twist was the first impression I received from this venue. The calming atmosphere with the quirky interior and Spring feel was what made it so nice whilst sitting down and dining. The pearl grey walls, romantic French style shake and marble tables with plant pots scattered all over made this place feel slightly staged but still cozy. The menu was very monotone with only predominantly standard options to choose from. My salmon salad with wasabi mayonnaise was well presented within a box like shape with the raw salmon on top. My spinach on the side was lightly buttered and steamed. Just perfectly made. The food was overall impressive. My boyfriend's poached eggs and salmon was nicely presented within a white bowl dish. Who doesn't agree that the dessert is the best part of the meal?? The dessert platter was the best part for sure. I was stuck between selecting a raspberry white brownie pistachio slice and chocolate larva Nutella cake with vanilla ice cream. Being the chocolate monster that I am, I decided to opt for the Nutella cake. It was simply heaven. The vanilla ice cream included just a hint too much vanilla which made the aftertaste slightly bitter. I was beyond impressed with the simple sophisticated but not over the top presentation. And the good quality fresh ingredients of this venue made This place by Hilton at Hyde park a prefect place to sit for an afternoon break. Will go again for that Nutella cake.. read more

We just had breakfast which was included in the room as gold Hilton members. This is by far the worst or non existing wait staff service compared to other Hilton hotel restaurants in many countries. I went to Aubaine and asked to see the menu, as I was in the mood for something light and not too substantia, and maybe a glass of winel. The manager gave me a menu and an attitude. I also went toward the coffee bar to see what they offered (there was a chalk board with breads and sweets). The manager approached and when I said I was looking for something light, he told me they didn't have time for me because "an entire restaurant was waiting for coffee" --I should note that half the restaurant was empty. I guess customer service doesn't matter in such a tourist heavy area. Funny thing is, if I didn't see anything interesting at the coffee bar I was planning to order the paillard, which is one of the pricier things on the menu. Oh well. read more

The food here is pretty nice. Our server tried really hard but was exceptionally inexperienced. The food was fine, especially the avocado with pomegranate and the bread with butter. When France is so close, this food is more obviously not the real thing than it might have been elsewhere, but it is a good option in the area. read more
